It's videos like this that I search all over RUclips for. No BS, no gimmicks, clear explanation with detail, all precise and down to earth asf. Happy to be the 1,000th like on this vid for sure. Thanks for the info 😊
Just a note, double stitching was introduced in the early 90's in Europe. So a lot of European vintage tees will be double stitched even though they're on early 90's tees.
So Drekd even some 90s American tees will be double stitched. I’ve seen some as early as ‘95 with double stitching. Companies didn’t just stop doing single stitch and start single-stitching in the late 90s like this guy makes it seem. It was a transition, but it’s true that the single-stitch did stop around 98-99
@@vettecityvintage932 never mentioned American tees, was merely saying European tees were predominantly double stitched for the most part during that time. Hence how i say 'a lot' and not 'all' same goes for the american tees. But it also says that 1% of Americans have autism, i guess that figure is a lot higher in Kentucky.
Good video. Thanks for explaining it. I had seen people who dumpster dive (or buy lockers) mention single stitch. Since I sew, I couldn't imagine why a double stitch was 'worse' than a single. :) LOL
I have Levi Strauss and Co tee and occasionally wearing this for the past 10 years, the neck and arm with Levis tag. The neck tag has labeled "MEN-M-95", is the 95 the year or size? The front print is just "Levi Strauss & Co." with two green and yellow parallel lines in the text. I am not quite sure what's the specific color of this shirt, it seems pink/ amaranth pink :D , I got this tee from a former housemate.
Great video. What if a shirt is double stitched, doesn't say "made in.." and the tag looked more modern, but the shirt was mid to late 90's. How would I know it was vintage in that scenario?
I think tags are the most important thing to identify whether a tshirt is vintage or not. Not all tees from the 90’s had single stitch, some of them already used double. So make sure you spend ur time studying those tags😂
I have a FOTL shirt that is single stitched and says 95 at the bottom of graphic so I’m assuming that’s the year 1995, but it also says “Made in Mexico” on the tag so would that disqualify it from being vintage?
the Mc.donald and flintstone tee to promate the movie. the live actions move came out in 1994. the date on the batman doesn't mean when the shirt was made. it's a copy right symble meaning the image on the shirt was copy written that year. if that shirt was made again the date would be the same dates.
LOL... These youngsters are crazy man. High end JUNK, I'm blown away by the ridiculous nature of this trend. I have a bunch of old tees they would love to get their hands on... Not gonna happen though! LOL!!!
Does a vintage shirt have to be single stitched all over? Or can one have single stitch everywhere but double at the waistline? I ask cause I found a old indy racing T that all the signs say its vintage but the double stitch at the waist. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the informative video.
That’s false lol. I’ve never seen any shirt from the early 90s or 80s that’s double. If you have some please shoot me pics because I would love to see.
RYAN MOSLEY there are so many tees that are from 94 and even before that are double stitched you’re obviously new to the game if you think only single stitch equals vintage😂
you posted this on my dads bday and you just give away some secrets. why. keep it inside man. all the way from sf. why give pointers. whats the point to just do it? this community loves over flooding with clones lmao.
Abel Saavedra why should it be a secret? People should be able to justify why a shirt is vintage and why it’s worth $80. More consumers means more trading. Telling people about a shirt doesn’t necessarily help people find items but more or so helps people when it comes to buying an actual vintage shirt.
Thanks for the great straight forward info. Much appreciated! Would like to hear more of your wisdom.

Thanx for the info still a lil unsure of single stitch and what it is and looks like exactly but I think I'll figure it out through trial and error

Double stitched was used in the late eighties and early 90s in Europe -- US made tees srarted switching to double stitch in 95 range

Eye-Riz It’s still vintage most likely, certain companies started to move production outside the united states in the 90s for cheaper labor.
Jsthebomb I see. My shirt was made by someone overworked and underpaid. 😔
