I've met him a couple of times. He is always very nice and will talk to you at length. Went to a seminar he gave at GalaxyCon Raleigh last year and he told some great stories. Will seek him out anytime he shows for a convention close by
I never got into Valiant back in the day. I have acquired a couple of Magnus issues from some comic packs I bought. I like them, just not something I'd collect. Awesome video!
Great books! He was at a Con here six months ago, no fee for signatures with CBCS option. He was overly chatty and some people had 25+ books and line went slowly. I got my three books done and he took his time, chatted and would carefully find perfect place to sign the books and used a ruler to insure a straight signature. He is also very intimidating with his height.
Tall guy! I was second in line so I lucked out. He does take his time. Im surprised he didn’t charge for signatures but perhaps that was because there were no facilitators set at his booth? He had some deal with them.
Thanks for sharing. I have one Jim Shooter signed CGC book. Adventure Comics 253 featuring the Legion of Super-Heroes (Death of Ferro Lad). Silver/Pearl sharpie used. 6.0 due to a stain on the back cover.
Just personally I would have gotten a Legion from the 60s signed. I loved those stories and the stuff he's said about being a teenage comic writer is quite interesting.
I was a Valiant Junkie too have whole runs of Magnus, Solar and X-O Manowar. and trying to complete some of the others Bloodshot missing 1 issue, Harbinger 2 issues, Secret Weapons 3 Issues. Good Books to have signed and graded met Shooter in the late Nineties and had a bunch of books signed,
I remember Valiant being all the rage when I was in college and having the hot, FOMO books. I was buying so much Marvel (and some DC) that I didn't pay much attention to Valiant. Don't think I bought my first Valiant book until late 1992. The only Shooter autograph I have is on an Uncanny X-Men 156 raw issue I won at an auction recently. Would love to have him sign some of my books in person. He was EIC at Marvel through my teen years in the '80s when Marvel was killing it. I'd probably have him sign some of my Secret Wars issues. That and the stories Shooter wrote during his first Avengers run is the work I most associate him with.
Pretty cool books🖒 I remember seeing alot of magnus robot fighter back in the day by a company called Gold Key who also done multiple other series including tv series. Here in Australia those sort of titles were big in the 60s and 70s and then dissapeared. Im 54 now if l could turn back time l would have collected alot of them as there were some great titles. I think valiant done reprints of those titles but not quiet sure.🖒
I had a stack ready to get signed and then saw the price. I think I ended up with 2 books. I did go back to see Jim after visiting John Beatty and picking up some of his and Mike Zeck's Captain America and Secret Wars artist edition prints to get signed. Hope to see Mike Zeck again to complete those prints.
@@LongboxLoveAffair Still waiting for my Joe Quesada Daredevil 1 to come back. The facilitator was going to get Jimmy Palmiotti for me and then get it CGC.
Lol i personally hate valiant titles.id have had him sign some of his own stuff! Defiant universe titles etc.I find "valuable" valiant stuff in 25 cent boxes constantly!!!🤣 But i can understand the personal attachment!👍
Yikes Defiant! Not my jam but to each their own right? He wrote some Valiant too, wasn’t just the head of the company. Regardless, these are all PC. Thanks for watching!
@@LongboxLoveAffair I have enjoyed every upload of yours that I have ever watched. I've seen most of them I am sure. I too am big on Valiant and Image and even Dark Horse comics. I've got lots of DC and Marvel, but my indie titles have grown in the last year.
Most are not. Really depends on which ones you have. Early issues from 1991-92 are the sweet spot and considered pre-Unity (before the Unity crossover they did). Those are lower print and more desirable, as are the final issues in each series. And of course first appearances.
Great books. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool. Shooter is a legend.
It was nice to see books you don’t see all the time 👍 nice haul
Archer and Armstrong along with eternal warrior were the absolute best books for me. I loved Valiant and Jim Shooter is the best.
Books from our youth always carry more meaning. Congrats on the Shooter sig and solid grades!
Thanks bro!
Nice to have all those more rare issues. The MA 12 was my favorite. The velour shirt was pretty rad too.
Ha! Thank you!

Awesome shooter signatures. Very cool
Thank you sir!
Just like a kid a Christmas, got to get that package opened as fast as you can!
I’d have it no other way🤣

Those a more good choices too!

Back in the early 2000’s I made it my mission to complete the sets. Final issues in the runs were hard to find and sought after.

Yeah the early ‘90s was when Valiant was blazing hot. My first taste at the hot spec market (before movies were even a factor)
I liked Solar I think he was valiant
😎 🏄♂️ love silver surfer
Solar is Valiant, yup!
Pretty cool books🖒

Gold Key are the originals and Valiant took over the rights of Magnus, Turok and Solar. It’s always fun to see those in the bins.

Yeah I wish the price wasn’t so high. I paid more than I wanted to as it is, but it’s my only time to seek out his signature so I just bit the bullet.

If there was a prize for being first, then I'd win it. LOL. I can't wait to sit back and watch this one buddy.
Enjoy, my friend!

I have over 40 books that I submitted in July that are still at CGC. Sometimes I can't figure out what they are doing.
That’s the cover story. Everyone has books there so I imagine they are quite delayed. I’m waiting on a bunch too.
i have a few valiant books like eternal warrior - harbinger - eternal enemy out thy worth anything
