@@Purpled_EyeTV Yk, I might will! If I ever do at least, but if I do then ay, just know it was you who inspired in a way to upload something after two years 👍
The short answer is no, you cannot combine regurlar rigs with skinned rigs (or bones as I like to call them) and for further proof I spent like 30+ minutes after reading this comment to try to make it work, which didn't worked, so yeah sorry, gotta stick with one
@@HedgeySaravia is there a way to make rigs with parts of a skined rig? beaause i have a character in blender and had to import its body parts sepratly to be uploaded to roblox. so is there a way to rig that WITH the mesh being bendable?
@@LuigiRulez2022Official Again no😭if you wanna make them bend in animation form then you're gonna have to rig them in blender itself, then import it into studio. Ofc you could still rig them normally but they won't bend even if they're a mesh
just a question which one of the steps that the model has to be unanchored 1. Model -- Unanchored Part -- Unanchored 2. Model -- anchored Part -- Unanchored 3. Model -- Unanchored Part -- anchored i just wanna know which one is the right thing to do
Do you have to model EVERYTHING in the model Lets say you joint the arm and legs and there fingers or like parts of clothes that you wanna animate do you just need to rig those too?
Some of which don't really need to be rigged/jointed, but rather welded. Here I just jointed them cuz I like to give my models a bit of "bounce" when animating
If your character is just a whole pack of meshes, then you can just group every single mesh part and name it according to its function and it'll work just fine?
Still works to this day I would say, I don’t see anything that could be outdated aside from the fact that moon animator isn’t free. Overall yeah it’s fresh, I might even change the title abit in the video to like 2023 instead of 2022
Because they’re cutscene tutorials, they’re for people who have a rigged model and wanna make a cutscene out of the model. The rigging is still involved in it though, cuz like, if you’re doing a chase scene, y’wanna position the camera to wherever, then animate the model over there, get me here? I hope so at least
@@DustyTheKiller Like if it built like a goomba or some floating limbs? The torso works like a main part so you could still add a torso and simply make it transparent and position it in the middle of your model, for instance the head if we’re talking goomba style, or if it’s a pair of legs then position the torso/main part where the waist is, it’s as shirmple as that
Tryyyyy animating in a different place? Like the game you’re currently Animating in, switch it to another cuz maybe it might be overloading the pc(?) i’m no expert tho😭So i don’t know if this would solve, theres always DevEx

@@lmlimpoism A recent comment asked me that exact question in my pinned comment, but to save your time I’ll simply copy and paste what I replied to them, you’re welcome if it works out you just gotta make a few tweaks such as putting it in somewhere called “StarterPlayer”, then renaming your model to “StarterCharacter”, then unanchoring the rootpart, annnd then the idle walk etc with scripts, should be able to easily find those too, from there your character should be playable
Nowadays I'm limited on time, but I'll try my best to not show it, but explain it, if you haven't installed Better Roblox ( a chrome extension/plugin) do so now cuz it'll be something you'll need for this In your game place, on the explorer tab where an earth icon shows named "workspace" hit the plus button and a search tab should pop up, from there you type "mesh" and select "MeshPart" A mesh part should appear in front of you, from there you select it, and go to the properties tab of the mesh part, you'll be looking for "MeshID" and "TextureID" (this is where you'll need the better roblox extension) Next, go to the marketplace, select the item you want and near the name of the item you'll see some icons there, you'll click on the one hat has 3 blue squares and 1 green square, from there a tab will open up showing the properties of the item, click the part called "Handle" (aka the item) and there you'll find both the texture id and the mesh id Finally, copy the mesh and texture id and paste them into your mesh part's respective category Simple as that you've brought a marketplace item to your game, I hoped I explained this well, I tried my best to be as a visual in words 😭
I just want to say for people who (surprisingly still) find this video, if there's a problem you have with your rigging process, try checking in the comments, or comment down your issue so either me (don't rely on me) or some other viewers can help along, but if none of which work, try checking the DevForum cuz most of your problems and answers MIGHT I said MIIIGHT be there. this tutorial really helped out but for some reason the upper chest of my model is unmoveable and before you ask yes the human root part is anchored
This tutorial was amazing!!
Is there any way you're able to rig it so that you can use roblox animations for your custom rigs?
OMG OMG OMG OMG TY YOUR A LIFE SAVER
the other video i saw was 46 minutes long.. this saved more time
46?!? Dang…At maximum it’d be like at least 20 but 46??? Guess they we’re showing off every bit of it😓…Nonetheless your welcome for saving your time B)
thank you so much i made like 20 models for my roleplay game and i forgot how to rig models
Good thing i had your back😎, i guess you could say
This is a nice tutorial! I got to rig my model entirely and im proud with the results, though moon animator currently costs 1200 robux and I do not have that luxury, Ive tried to use the regular roblox animation editor but it cant find my rig, chat, am I cooked? im gonna see if I can plop my mech into blender
I forgot to mention this in the video since at the time moon animator was still free, you simply have to put a humanoid in your model and that’s it and done
just in time! I just learned that I had to put a humanoid AND an "animator" inside that humanoid for it to detect it! I thank you and my friend buggles for the help, im currently making the model of some giant monster thatll be roaming around in my world, you have my greatest gratitude

@@ChatterGaming An absolute pleasure on helping you with both rigging and your problem, happy rigging👍!
YOO TYSM DUDE
Man what happened? I'm glad you still respond to comments but you have not posted in ages.
Three words, lack of motivation 😭
@@HedgeySaravia aww hush, try making some simple studio showcases on projects you make perhaps? :)
@@Purpled_EyeTV Yk, I might will! If I ever do at least, but if I do then ay, just know it was you who inspired in a way to upload something after two years 👍
@@HedgeySaravia It's always good to bring back underrated content creators!
The model that you used in the video reminds me of my friend's model
maybe it's because of the similar model style.
Super helpful!
I LOVE YOU TYSM
I love you too man
Wow thank u ur the best RUclips I hope u reach 1k one day lol this helped me a lot (≧∇≦)
Very generous of you, I hope you can fulfill your dreams with the power of rigging 😄
dude u saved my life❤
THANJ YOU FOR THIS DUDE 🙏🏾
thank god for this video actually
Can you combine parts and meshs with this? I mean like have a mesh with a bendable arm and then combine it with legs that are made of parts
Ofc you could still rig them normally but they won't bend even if they're a mesh
best tutorial i gotta say
ththththththhthththththtththththtthhhhaank yooouuuu
just a question which one of the steps that the model has to be unanchored
1. Model -- Unanchored
Part -- Unanchored
2. Model -- anchored
Part -- Unanchored
3. Model -- Unanchored
Part -- anchored
i just wanna know which one is the right thing to do
3, the part (which I assume is the humanoidrootpart you mean?) needs to be anchored
@@HedgeySaravia forgot o say root part not included cuz i already know that it has to be anchored
Ooooh, then yeah, 1 for sure, as I already said in my previous comment
Do you have to model EVERYTHING in the model
Lets say you joint the arm and legs and there fingers or like parts of clothes that you wanna animate do you just need to rig those too?
Some of which don't really need to be rigged/jointed, but rather welded. Here I just jointed them cuz I like to give my models a bit of "bounce" when animating
So in general, no you don't have to model (or rig) EVERYTHING, you just rig what you gotta rig
@@HedgeySaravia alright thanks
hmm it wont work in animation editor
If your character is just a whole pack of meshes, then you can just group every single mesh part and name it according to its function and it'll work just fine?
yes
very helpful!
Did anything change with update's, or that tutorial is fresh and not outdated at this moment?
Still works to this day I would say, I don’t see anything that could be outdated aside from the fact that moon animator isn’t free. Overall yeah it’s fresh, I might even change the title abit in the video to like 2023 instead of 2022
@@HedgeySaravia Cool :)
thank you so much you taught me how to rig🤣
Hooray💃
When i searched cutscene tutorials there were not animation or rigging only camera movement and stuff
@@HedgeySaravia i successfully made a cutscene with a rig made in 50 seconds
@@spriteman1925 woooooo
What if the model does not have an Torso?
(please comment)
@@DustyTheKiller Like if it built like a goomba or some floating limbs? The torso works like a main part so you could still add a torso and simply make it transparent and position it in the middle of your model, for instance the head if we’re talking goomba style, or if it’s a pair of legs then position the torso/main part where the waist is, it’s as shirmple as that
@@HedgeySaravia Thank you!
ssadly moon animator now costs 1700 robux
The built in animator is your next best bet, sorry😔😔😔
Sorry I'm late but everything I rig I can move stuff that stay in the same place. When I animate my rig everything's wacky
hey i made a model and did this it still closes studio when i try animating please help
Tryyyyy animating in a different place? Like the game you’re currently Animating in, switch it to another cuz maybe it might be overloading the pc(?) i’m no expert tho😭So i don’t know if this would solve, theres always DevEx
@@HedgeySaravia ok thanks for the help i will try!
nvm it doesnt work idk what to do :[
yay after 90 re-rigs after the previous attempt failed, i sucesfully rigged a tank from generation zero
They say it takes 2 wipes but it’s been more than 50 wipes
Toilet joke
@@HedgeySaravia LMFAO
Question: can you make this your player?
Yes you can! heck, originally i wanted to say that you could in this video, but i uh, didn't, cuz i think i wanted this to be just a 100% Rigging Tutorial, nonthenless youcan make this yourchareatcer
Bruh i spent 20 minutes doing this because I kept forgetting stuff-
I have watched this about 10 times and I have rigged my model so thank you so much because my peanut size brain couldn't understand anything 👍
Sorry if I didn’t explained it as well🥲, tried to make it as simple as possible but uh, guess not everyone found it easy😓will improve
@HedgeySaravia NO NO YOU EXPLAINED IT REALLY WELL THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD ACTUALLY COMPREHEND
We only use the joints for the parts that we want to move and use the Welds for the stationary parts that move with another object right?
Yup! (That's all i have to say other then yup, correct)
Ok so can you do this with items such as a gun, knife or others?
why doesnt anyone explain the way you did
Surprisingly not much, they were either lengthy or not precise, thats why I made this to explain rigging under 4 minutes with all the info you need, sorta, and nowwww I’m the first video to pop up when you search “Roblox how to rig”, what an achievement 🥹
HELP WHAT TO DO IF MOON ANIMATOR SAYS: "Rig path names must be unique"
i have a question: if you have a lower torso and a upper torso which one do you joint with the humanoid root part, is it the one with the humanoid root part which in this case is the upper torso?
I’d so say yeah! Still nice to ask tho to y’know, ensure your info
If you like these type of Videos, Uhm, well, uh, you just, y’know, uh, Never-Mind anymore
Suggestions are Possible as-well, I’d appreciate since well, i’m pretty dry on Stuff for RUclips
From the looks of it, it’s not doin’ as well it seems, guess i’ll try to not do Roblox studio vidoes (xd)
Nevermiiind what i said 3 months ago, this is actually doing unexpectedly great
Still i don’t know what to upload xd
If you export it to blender will you be able to animate it there?
I’m pretty sure you can, I’m just not sure how to though😓my apologies but at least you got your answer (and a 2 day late response)
The menu on the right isnt there?
im literally about to have a mental breakdown I have not gotten any progress and everything I do fails
@@gabby-g6s I’ve been there before, rigging is pretty confusing at first glance but all you really gotta do is take it slow and go step by step on what this video (or any video) explains to you, a simple two part model could be a good testing model
Hello, so, i was trying to rig my gun model but it was not working, and i know how to rig, then i opened a random tutorial(this video) and it WORKS! I dont know how, because i did the exactly same thing, whatever, thank you.
My pleasure for whatever I said that other videos didn’t B)
just a small question
if i were to, say, want this rig to be used as a player character, how would i go about doing that?
@@lmlimpoism A recent comment asked me that exact question in my pinned comment, but to save your time I’ll simply copy and paste what I replied to them, you’re welcome if it works out
you just gotta make a few tweaks such as putting it in somewhere called “StarterPlayer”, then renaming your model to “StarterCharacter”, then unanchoring the rootpart, annnd then the idle walk etc with scripts, should be able to easily find those too, from there your character should be playable
When I try to create a joint with the HumanoidRootPart and the Torso nothing happens. How do I fix this?
For some reason, when I click my rig on moon animator, it doesn't show the rig despite me adding a humanoid and properly rigging it.
What about SUPER complicated stuff? Is there a way to speed up the process?
What do you mean by SUPER complicated stuff? What I show here is pretty much all you need to know about rigging, like literally🤷♀🤷♀
Can you show how to import marketplace accessories?
Nowadays I'm limited on time, but I'll try my best to not show it, but explain it, if you haven't installed Better Roblox ( a chrome extension/plugin) do so now cuz it'll be something you'll need for this
In your game place, on the explorer tab where an earth icon shows named "workspace" hit the plus button and a search tab should pop up, from there you type "mesh" and select "MeshPart"
A mesh part should appear in front of you, from there you select it, and go to the properties tab of the mesh part, you'll be looking for "MeshID" and "TextureID" (this is where you'll need the better roblox extension)
Next, go to the marketplace, select the item you want and near the name of the item you'll see some icons there, you'll click on the one hat has 3 blue squares and 1 green square, from there a tab will open up showing the properties of the item, click the part called "Handle" (aka the item) and there you'll find both the texture id and the mesh id
Finally, copy the mesh and texture id and paste them into your mesh part's respective category
Simple as that you've brought a marketplace item to your game, I hoped I explained this well, I tried my best to be as a visual in words 😭
Hey I tried to rig a model and when I finished the whole thing east animatable
The only thing animatable was like the arm and that was it how to fix?
It works thanks
