In my opinion the 997 is peak Porsche. To me it’s the perfect mixture of analog and ‘modern’. 991s and 992s are phenomenal, but they just don’t compare to 997 for pure, raw, analog driving. Hoping I can own one in the future !
My first 911 was a 997.1 Carrera X51 with ceramics. I still remember exploring the chassis dynamics of arguably the last true 911 and just “getting” what everyone had been taking about for decades. The slightly light and bobbing front end, the sharp steering, the other-worldly grip out of corners, the astounding braking ability (engine behind the rear wheels) and that flat 6 howl near the red-line. was all just so-right!
This car, this road..... Man it´s by far my most favorite RUclips video of all time. I´m dreaming of owning this car since it first came out, this exact spec was my poster car on the wall... I´m almost in tears watching this. You have made my day sweet, thank you so much Ted. #RespectTheDrive
Tedward I just want to say I appreciate you man, for showing everyone that not everyone has to have a Subaru or a Supra. There are hundreds and hundreds of fun cars out there, and you show a lot of unique stuff. Much respect to you bro.
Owww man I've waited this video for sooooo long. The 997.1 has "that" little something that makes it age very well. It might not rev to 9k but I wouldn't care one bit. It looks fabulous, it sounds incredible, it represents the 2000's so well I dont know I'm kind of speechless. I thought I couldn't afford a M3 in the past and then made it, hopefully I'll acheive it with that car one day 🤞
I totally get why these cars are so expensive: Hydraulic steering, manual transmission, port injection for reliability, a chassis that was designed to communicate with the driver instead of a stability control program, and natural aspiration with power and torque way up top to encourage regular downshifting! It's sad that nothing this awesome will likely ever be built again...
2006-7 is a dividing line for me. The dash and controls are all analog. I appreciate that digital controls can make everything centralized, but analog always engages me that much more.
You can't say it's the best day of the year already there's so many other cars you're going to drive! However I do gotta say the best days are when there's a Tedward video to watch :)
Great generation GT3. As an aside, the best part about GT3 reviews is that no one complains about the tall gearing. We would have to sit through at least 2-3 minutes of that if this was a GT4 review even though this GT3 does pretty much exactly the same speed in 2nd (just with less torque than a GT4).
Nearly purchased one of these end of last year. The 997.1 is my favorite gen GT3 and that drive hooked me even more. Shifter was very direct and precise like everyone describes. I was shocked how well composed the suspension felt despite having full spherical bushings and low profile tires. Cup side muffler deletes weren’t too over bearing either. Ultimately I couldn’t agree to their price but my friend ended up buying the car instead so luckily I still get to enjoy it
I love these cars. Passing up one of these for $70k in 2019 is on my list of large regrets. It was a driver with 70k miles and some rock chips... Exactly what I want in a fun gt3!
I have this car, it is amazing. Bought it back in 2007 and it has 27000 kms on the clock. Completely stock and sounds like a race car, kind of dangerous so I never drive it in the rain. One of the best cars ever made in my opinion.
I’ve had the pleasure of owning a GT3 991.1 since it was new. An absolutely amazing car, which demands driving it well, but in return will give so much driving pleasure. I rally with a number of new GT3’s. Even though excellent drivers, good, 997 has no problem keeping up through the turns. Never wanted a newer GT3.
Mr. Tedward, I have a feeling you’d greatly enjoy a Singer Porsche. As so would your fans. I think you’ve single-handedly turned me into a Porsche fanboy. Keep it up!
Latigo Canyon Road, then turning on Kanan Dume Road. I used to ride my motorcycle there all the time when I lived in LA. I think it's even better on a motorcycle than in a car. Although you go slower, you have more of a feeling of being in the environment. The views are better.
Hi Ted. I own a 997.2 GT3 and will be picking up my new 992T in two months. I discovered your channel looking for reviews on the T. Crazy that you drove both cars recently and 30 days apart. The GT3 is the most modern 911 I've owned and driven to date. Would love your notes to help time pass while I impatiently wait for the T.
@@TedwardDrives my bad. Confused you with another reviewer. Did see you've reviewed the base with PDK but that may be too much of a departure from a 992T with MT. Looking forward to your review and would love your notes afterward with a comparison. Cheers.
Hey Tedward - your pov 992 4S video convinced my frugal, conservative dad to buy a 911 - which I have the enormous pleasure and privilege of getting to drive. He and I are both the biggest fans of your channel - over and above all other car RUclipsrs. Cheers my man! P.S. I am curious what your first name is haha
Fantastic. It’s crazy to think that’s not even anywhere close to what that car is capable of. (no offense!). That car wide open to 9,000 then stomping on those brakes would make most people yack from the forces. Crazy. And a stick! Can’t go wrong!
I’d say the 997’s design still holds up today. Seriously, beautiful car
It absolutely does. That’s Porsche’s forte. It took an offbeat, 80 year-old design, and made it cutting edge, continuously, for 60 years. AMAZING!
Can I actually say it's probably my top-favourite 911....
Yes!
The .1 is outdated, meanwhile the .2 is timeless.
agreed
This has got to be my favourite POV car video of all time. The road, the lighting, the car, and the commentary..... All perfect!
Thank you!!
Yes! I almost agree with being perfect though. My favorite is the old Winding Road magazine of the Superformance GT40. It’s like car guy ASMR
agree. there was something about this that had me fully hooked. perfect video
This is up there with his LFA videos. Those are legendary.
even the audio equipment shut off with satisfaction
In my opinion the 997 is peak Porsche. To me it’s the perfect mixture of analog and ‘modern’. 991s and 992s are phenomenal, but they just don’t compare to 997 for pure, raw, analog driving. Hoping I can own one in the future !
"Whenever we can afford them, they go higher" - Topher was spot on here.
Top her didn’t say that
Topher did say that 4:19
Please do more vids with topher. With his conversation it's like we're on a virtual journey with a virtual friend at the passenger seat.
That car is nuts, hope your day is well Ted!

997 is by far the best Looking Generation of modern-day 911's

Epic how the best sound in this video is at 9:11
997 is my favorite 911, its the last of the "small" bodies and it has enough technology in it.
2006-7 is a dividing line for me. The dash and controls are all analog. I appreciate that digital controls can make everything centralized, but analog always engages me that much more.
SHEESH I need to up my audio game. 3.6L Mezger with binaural audio is eargasmic! Glad I was able to set you up with this amazing car.
Love that car, man!
Your channel is very relaxing, entertaining, and enjoyable. thank you!
Nice drive . I think the rawest generation of gt3 series in Porsche.
I appreciate your comments about keeping ALL (yes, even us with Spandex on) road users safe. Keep up the good work, @Teward!

Then next few weeks of content are bonkers.
997 are perfect 911, still looks modern enough but retains those old classic 911 mechanical feeling.
The 997.1 gt3/gt3rs is my dream car

Porsche is hands down the best car manufacturer ever
that tunnel acceleration sent a shiver down my spine haha ! great video man, thank you

Jealous
Man this video just reminded me of the why Porsche are amazing vid. Keep up with the good work Tom
the noise it makes at 3:29 is amazing
I feel grateful for having a piece of this in my 997.1 C2S, but this is the life goal. Sublime...
UGH, I’ve got a project to work on but how can I not watch a 997 GT3 video from Tedward?!😂
One of the BEST sounds in the world.....no doubt....good video! 😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
always a joy to see a Porsche
The two of you doing stuff is so fun :)
these cars sound amazing.. so therapeutic to listen to lol
This one hits different and I own a 997
I feel like this is the best 911gen before it gets too big but also new enough
One of my favorite cars 997.1 or .2 GT3.
The best Tedward video I’ve seen.
Beautiful car, super well done and narrated video. Absolutely made my morning. Thank you. ☕️
Thank you!
Best generation of the 911 👌🏾❤️👌🏾
Tedward casually dropping a gem
Wow by how much luv you have for this model, it must be amazing to pilot this car.
Awesome car, beautiful roads. Great to see you making videos with Topher, please do more in the future!
very polite driver, great video
ALL MY HOMIES LOVE THE THE TEDWARD + TOPHER COLLABS

Gawd damn that car sounds good
My favorite modern classic! I'd retrofit a 997.2 steering wheel and take the lower buy-in cost of the pre-facelift
I never look down at the centre console in my 997.1 - you don't have time. I can't remember the last time I turned it on. Smiles for Miles :)
Best driver's car of all time! Thanks for the great video
Tedward and topher loyalist here, wish I could double like the Porsche vids
Tohper + Tedward this early in the year, a nice package.
He’s my boy!!!
This is such a goodlooking machine 🔥🔥
Mr. Tedward, I have a feeling you’d greatly enjoy a Singer Porsche. As so would your fans. I think you’ve single-handedly turned me into a Porsche fanboy. Keep it up!
Beautiful car, beautiful sound, beautiful vid
More proof that the aughts were peak ICE cars
That is not a sports car. That is a racecar!
Exactly 🥵🔝 like all Porsche GT models
So much teasing in this video, I've been waiting for the redline in 2nd and it never came😭😂
WAIT YOU TWO KNOW EACHOTHER?!?! I haven't even wtached the vid yet and I know it is going to be amazing
That sound....such car is a cultural heritage.
My favorite 911!
These roads! That Porsche! Love it all.
Porsche from Stuttgart
Love it! Keep up the great videos.
Beautiful car
God damnit this is incredible.
Love this car as well

what a coincidence you saw J Ryan haha. Fellow GVBC driver here too! Nice video as always
Just got back from breakfast club :)
@@TedwardDrives hope you had a good time! Todays weather is perfect.
if I could have any road car ever it would be one of these, white paint with black wheels too
As a package it just is a thrill to drive every time, and why I never plan for mine to go anywhere.
This is awesome
Some day im gonna buy one of this, and be happy, and want nothing else !
also the last GT car with factory roof rack option i believe. theres photos of these things with tires in roof baskets
The last 2 naturally aspirated engines produced should be the Porsche flat 6 and Ferrari V12
Timeless.
I need a Time Machine to buy one when these were $85-90k.
I stupidly passed one up at 90 a few years ago.

That steering looks heavy AF.
wait till you see the 1991 NSX
5:39 heart skipped a beat
Does it get better than this? My vote for the best GT3, on a canyon road, what an experience!
Is that a Carrera and a Corvette parked there? Would be interested to see videos of those!
Really some great stuff i wonder how the corvette would do compared to the Porsche
TW you have a great job. I hope your YT work pays you enough, because this would be my ideal workday
This is my job :)
@@TedwardDrives i want your job. 😁
Topher: "The splitters are awesome on these cars!"
Tedward: So anyways, I started blasting 🤣
hahahahaha
Simply savage.
The location makes my brain think this is a SmokingTire video
Literally sounds like my car

dont stop doing videos together
I drive race cars in Assetto Corsa like this... Tedward: "hold my beer"
Amazing
Great roads
Beautiful car❤
Up till now I was convinced you and topher were the same person
Where was this filmed ? Very pretty
I’m guessing this is in Malibu any chance you can share with me where this road is so I can go drive it. Love the vids!!! RTD!!!
