Nash, I’m new to this and am about to try my first batch. I’ve been making beer for 30 years so this part is very familiar. I have found that the filter bags from the Home Depot paint department or home brew supply work very well to strain out your wort. You can actually stretch the top of the filter bag over the pot when adding ingredients. When you’re done with the boil you can just pull out the bag and give it a good squeeze. Your wort will be nice and clear. While you’re at the brew supply grab a 7 gallon carboy so you can transfer the wort from your cooking pot to the carboy for fermentation. It will also aerate it nicely. Hope this helps. Wish me luck. 13:25
thanks for this video, i'm a neophyte to this thing, I just bought a Vevor 50L and trying to figure out what was the tumper pot... I will try to put just fines herbs, gingember or curative herbs in it. wish me Good Luck ... Ps ...never again I will use ups for delivery ... Bon Temps des Fetes! From Québec.
You killed the analyses when you heated the barley over 165 degrees. Starch conversion stopped at that point. That’s why the gravity reading was so low. Should check conversion with the iodine test.
Your thumper is set up wrong. You need NO pickup tube, so it doesn't push liquid through, only steam. That's why it puked into your condenser. I would run the whole thing again.
Nash - I made vodka for the first time. My final product with the hydrometer goes above the listed numbers above the top line. How can I record a reading...What does this mean?
Please, please, please, I am afraid of distillation because alcohol has been banned in my country, and I want to distill a liter of vodka from a 3 liter of wine. How much toxic methanol can I remove? I am afraid of blindness and diseases. I hope you can answer me. Thank you.

Thumper was to full. or set up backwards
Clean your new still with 50% water 50% vinegar. Steam it for around 30 to 45 min
Can you just have no thumper?
Yes. I rarely use one

Congrats, you've made hand sanitizer.
That's a bit high for malted barley
Some times I use a hand blender
For putting air in my wash

I just did a run that took 11 hours. 7 is normal.
@@the_shine_viking8312 thanks for share. It always confuse ne about distlling time
While I admire your effort. You should do ALOT more research before giving out bad info bro
Where can i get better information ?
This guy has no clue about distilling. His final product is terrible. Ran too hot.
Your candy added sugar
You actually don’t have a clean spirit. I would call it low wines wash. You were most likely running it too hot.
