@@Rebelass74 Also not entirely true. Some regiments recruit Rais and Limbus from the Darjeeling region and from Sikkim.
@@indrajitgupta3280 You are correct but let me elaborate on this subject so there is no confusion. Only people with Nepali ethnic background can join the Gorkhas. They can be from any Nepali diaspora living in India or Nepal. Rais and Limbus you mentioned are ethically Nepali. Bhutia and Lepchas from Sikkim are also permitted to join because they are culturally Nepali. Other Tibeto-Burman tribes from the Northeast are not allowed. They have to belong to a ethnically Nepali tribe or have to be culturally Nepali like the Sikkimese. 👍🏽🙏
Neighbor country?? Have you ever heard of the place called Darjeeling which is in India?? A grown man like yourself lacking this knowledge is really sad. This one here is Indian Gurkha Regiment. Gurkhas in this regiment are mostly recruited from Darjeeling and other places within India like Sikkim where people have Gurkha origins. I am a Gurkha too but not from Nepal but Darjeeling, India. The other one is Royal Gurkha Rifles in the British Army. Now people in Royal Gurkha Rifles are recruited from Nepal which was part of a treaty British and Nepal agreed on.
