Freaking awesome!!
kit sounds amazing
Thanks, Brady!
I place this right on the top shelf with the best ever drum covers on the Tube.
That is quite an honor! Thank you! I'm hoping to be able to record more soon!
Your killed in Brother, one of Rush’s hardest drumming tunes!!
Fantastic performance of a track that I have always considered pretty much uncoverable, trying to record well over Neil's powerhouse drum track is virtually impossible and slightly off time hits stand out like a sore thumb upon playback. Your drums sound is very similar to the Different Stages disc 3 mix (live in London 1978)
Even though it was one of their earlier songs, it was still very complex. You nailed it Mister.
Good heavens. I'm just blown away not only with your playing which is SPOT ON, but the sound is incredible. Speed, touch, accuracy, you've got it all here!
WOW! Good job!!!
Thank you! :)
This is brilliant. Great job man.
Thanks, Michael!
I was glued to the video for the whole thing! Very good excellent job, perfect sound and everything. You had that dry sort of sound he had on that album, you had it down! Well done!
Good grief this is amazing. I'm visually entranced by ~3:52 to ~4:15 especially. Loveeee this.
I agree, bloody fantastic. Take a bow son! :)
You're too kind!
Greatest of all time. Watching you cover that just makes me appreciate that drum line so much more. When you watch Neil play it so perfectly it seems like a robot. It is kind of neat to see it covered and feel a little human-ness to it (backhanded complement to Mr. Peart who can play to perfection). Awesome. Great choice. The verse and chorus are so very interesting. His parts are the greatest art on the drums.
Thank you so much! He really put such a unique touch to Rush's music; one can't help but appreciate it. I'm thrilled you liked my take on it! I hope to do more in the near future.
Flawless effort Ryan! Thanks for sharing such musical skill on a rather challenging Rush gemstone of a song!
Thank you so much!
Immense Ryan!!!!! Expect a call from Geddy/Alex!
Outstanding young man! Nice crack on that snare! Don
Phenomenal!!
That was impressive! Amazing. Incredible concentration to pull that off. I know, I've watched Neil play it live a few times
Nice to see some ancient Rush drum covers. Everyone wants to do YYZ. Excellent job on the fills/solo.
Maybe Geddy and Alex give you a tryout for a fill in drummer?
Well done!!!
This is absolutely perfect ❤
Dude!! I'd audition for Neil's replacement if i were you!
There could never be a replacement! :)
Outstanding!!
Fantastic! The precise playing, the tone of your drums, and the obvious dedication to your craft are apparent. Thanks for doing this, and keep it up!
Much appreciated!
excellent in every way! great playing :) way to put power into it.. reminds me of neil!
Thank you! Neil is certainly my drumming hero so I'm glad it shows! :)
Bravo!!
Melhor música do Rush.10 pro batera!!!!
Obrigado!
Outstanding young man! You drum with authority!
Thank you so much!
Fantastic!!
Thank you!
Started off amazing and just got better!!
🫡
stellar job man!
Thank you!
Amazing man!
Great job👏👏👏👏👏👏top top top
Nice job!
Thanks, Fred!
Excelente!!
Gracias!
Beautiful kit, and amazing drumming :), if you don't mind me asking, and i'm fine if you don't know :P Do you know what type of kit you're using? :P
Thank you! And certainly! The toms and kick are Pearl Masters MMX (circa early 2000's, if my memory serves me correctly; I bought them used in 2009). The snare is a Tama SLP 7x13 maple. Thanks again!
Thanks :P
Any danger of showing the breaks you begin at 3.51 in slow motion? You've nailed them but I've been trying to work it out for about 40 years!
Neil Peart was a genius.
Absolutely!
Slightly off in some parts but good job!
he fell apart totally at 350 till 415... playing stuff that isn't there and botching up stuff that IS there.
There is a HUGE gap between being a good basement musician and being a professional who can cut it in the studio and also live. Neil was a monster for his compositions plus the ability to play them full power live; he beat the living shit out of his heads.
@@michaelzilkowsky2936 Agreed.
Ryan is a very talented drummer and very hard working and focused in the same way that Peart was , this is the very best Peart cover I’ve seen so why don’t you guys stop nit picking and post a clip showing how it really should be done.
Great rush song. But dude. You need to put some good Tom heads on your toms. They sound worse than a cardboard box.
One sorry sounding drum kit. 😢😢😢😢😢
Anyone who can do all those fills so perfectly is a fantastic drummer in my eyes. Fantastic, I don’t think I’ve watched a single drum cover more!
Wow! Thank you so much!
@@RyanSimpsonMusic I have watched this a dozen times! Where the hell are you today?
Ryan - that was insane! Watched it 5x over and will get back to it again! You sir are a major talent.
Thanks, Jose! :)
Hey Ryan - back to it and subscribed. Anyone down with Rush is a friend of mine. Keep it comin'
WOW NAILED IT. Mr Peart would be proud. RIP Neil.
Terrific job! great timing and technique.
Thanks, Rick!
Jesus Christ!! I just had a stroke and man did this put my spirit back in place. You kicked some ass there!! I can do the guitar but the drums are the shit. Can't swing my arms like that. Great job!!!
Tremendous!!
Best By-tor ever.. Wow, you got it... Recapturing 22 year old Neil.... Amazing!
Not a lazy drummer. Effort to make to correct drum strike even if it is just one hit into fill that most wouldn't even notice. . Excellent. As an older drummer who still gets at it in bands take it from me. Continue to not cut corners. Time will do that for you hopefully not until MANY decades into the future. I would go to RUSH concerts as a teen back in late 70's and while all my friends would sit in assigned seats id go to back of arena alone where i could sit at railing front row of empty section of seating and look down to see Neil and just the backs of Alex and Geddy. The entire concert was just watching Neil and it was frigging great. As good as Neil became...early Rush was when he was , to me, a frigging monster drummer. He didn't have to spend energy wisely. lol He just went all out
Love your bass drum treatment. You channel the dark lords genius well, my friend.
Brilliant cover Ryan - beat perfect
Thank you!
A lot of energy behind your hits, and very accurate. If I could play drums I'd hope I would be something like you sir!
Thank you so much!
Right on dude. You sound great.
Powerful!!! ^^
+Alobytes Whitestone Thanks! :)
You deserve more views sir, great drumming !
Thanks so much!
Dang! I don't see many By-Tor and the Snow Dog covers! That was awesome!
Neil Peart would approve ! Very well done young man !
Fills and signature changes were on point. Enjoyed this.
As long as artists such as yourself continue to play these songs (and very VERY well at that), we will always remember the joy Neil brought us.
That's quite a compliment! Miss Neil every day!
You nailed the drum fill/solo section, dude. I've been playing 30+ years and i still have a hard time nailing that part of the song. Kudos!
Nailed it big time! Kix azz!
Thank you!
Ryan, are you familiar with Cardiacs? That could be your next assignment! A lifelong learning potential right there.
I am not familiar, but I will make myself familiar! Thanks!
this is fucking awesome
Excellent!!
Awesome cover!!! I've been a fan since around '79-'80, when I first discovered them as a young teen. I've listened INTENTLY to this album, over and over again, to catch every note, and to completely analyze this album as well as all of their other material available at the time. Unfortunately, there was no video of this song available at that time, at least, not that I was aware of. So it was a GREAT pleasure to come across your video to see an accurate visual of the playing that I could only envision in my mind up to now. I realize that this upload is 7 years old but it was still relevant to me so I give big thanks and HUGE props for doing what you did.
Dude - A for effort man - that was killer
This is by far the best sounding drum kit I have ever heard on RUclips😍😍😍 what kind of heads are using for your toms?
Wow, thanks! In this video, I'm using Evans Blue Hydraulics on top with clear G1s on bottom. :)
Ryan Simpson 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻😭
Wow !!❤👍👍👍
Fucking TIGHT. Neil-approved. No drums were harmed in the making of this video....NOT!!!
EXCELLENT
Awesome Brutha, you play like a dream and those drums sound fucking fantastic! I just uploaded my guitar cover of By-Tor and the Snowdog. Wish we could kill it together!
Thank you so much!
Holy cow man that was awesome. Right on the mark and, on a very difficult song. I been playing my whole life I wouldn’t even try it.
Fantastic
Awesome job. That is outstanding.
Thank you!
Out of the park! Absolutely stunning and Neil would be smiling down on that ❤
