I think great friendships like that are rare, just like true love, cause it’s truly the closest thing we have to magic....it’s a powerful connection that’s so rare-but once had changes you forever. It’s the great “mystery” of humanity period. I pray I might experience that on a human level one day.

Not sure why we couldn't SEE some of these key clips of dialogue, rather than seeing an overlay. That effect is useful at times, but I wanted to see more of them speaking these great words. Nice job though. One of the greatest shows ever created. With two of the greatest actors who ever lived. And such truly great writing. (Seasons 1 to 3)

What does it mean, "the doctor who never came home from the war."?
It's kinda a metaphor - John may have physically left the war but he still retains the reactions and some of the trauma of being a soldier.
Plus I think he misses the thrill of war which he is able to get while solving cases with sherlock.
