I can answer this one. You are not too old. I talked to this woman in 2019 and she helped me understand how an mba could help me and how i could position myself to get admitted to a top MBA. I graduated last May and I’m joining BCG next month. I can confirm, age is irrelevant its all about your drive, attitude, objectives, and personal motivation. Listen to this amazing person and do exactly what she says you will achieve your goals (and even learn how to define them clearly along with a step by step plan to accomplish what you want with your MBA). I’m 35 btw.
I'm 46, and IM starting my MBA this year, this summer actually. I have a masters in social work , been working with it for the past 25 years. Thereby I been solving social problems all this time, but I have never been asked to solve a business or organization problems. So Im a little nervous that I been out of school for so long and I wont know what to contribute to my classmates.
Don't think about the MBA as "school". Think of it as a laboratory for future business leaders. These days most MBAs are also interested in solving social problems and using business to do that. I bet you will have a lot to share along those lines as you all conduct experiments in leadership and business impact. One's unique perspective is always valuable! Congrats and best of luck!
Great question posed ! I am.in the same position as a MSW for 24 years and looking apply for MBA programs this year. We have quite a few transferrable skills that add value to organizations if we network and market ourselves as having a diverse skills set. Best of luck and we got this!
So glad I found your videos. I’m an older, military member who is considering a pivot with 12 years of experience under their belt. It’s encouraging to hear there are opportunities to succeed even as an older candidate. Here’s a question you may have answered in a video I haven’t seen yet: Which are the most “family friendly” MBA programs? I’m not alone on my journey and need to consider that aspect as well. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words!! Most programs bring partners into the mix and make sure they feel welcome and included. The two that we've heard the best things about from our clients are Kellogg and Tuck. These programs are in reasonably insular communities where social activities might be minimal for partners, so they make a big effort to include them. But MOST top schools account for this so be sure to investigate it during your school research!
You guys just read my mind! (And many other applicants' mind I believe) Have you considered to create playlist by Topics? This video could be in the playlist of "Things to Consider Before Application", which also include your videos regarding military applicants, why need MBA, who need MBA, what types of MBA etc.
Nice encouraging video, my age is 47, I have been an assistant property manager for real estate company, I have 3 years' experience right now, before I was taking jobs like insurance, collections, it was post- 2008 recession. I want to pursue either an MBA or EMBA so I can continue in real estate as an owner myself. I was also looking at a law degree which would help in my career, help avoid any perils. As you can see, I am a late bloomer, but this is my situation in a nutshell, but I am trying to figure out which MBA program is more appropriate for me at this time?
Why don’t Journeymen/women qualify to apply for an MBA? Their credential is equal to a bachelor’s degree and they have at least 5 years OTJ training by the time they graduate.

Great Insights 👍
Many thanks, Matloob! Best of luck!
I feel you can be too old if you wont get the ROI of putting in 3-5 years in PT/Executive program at older age. Good vid!
