The director Chad already confirmed they will use the original soundtracked. They won't even retouch it.
My God, that is some of the best cinematic news I've ever heard. I was too young to take myself to the theatre when it first came out, but I can't wait for that intro to fill a dark theatre. I'm so there. It would be legendary if they used Sean Connery's voice for the intro too, but I don't see how they'd fit in that badassery

The Queen soundtrack was epic, but of its time. I would be happy with an easter egg, but we should have something fresher. Notwithstanding that at the time this was a re-boot for Queen, so a band that has been around for 1 or 2 decades would be appropriate. As long as its British and its ROCK! Def not Runrig or the Proclaimers, hey Donald? :D

Christopher Lambert will always be 'the Highlander' , for me. His portrayal of a man who's lived for centuries, had friends and lovers lost to death, having to battle to keep his own existence. I felt his accent was perfect for Connor, and his private collection of items in his library... wow. I liked the TV series and the follow-up movies, and looking forward to the White Wolf as Connor. Yes, cameos by the actors from pervious Highlander stories would be great. Connor as a Watcher.....just how hands off could he remain? Queen's music for Highlander is as iconic as the franchise, it should be included.

I will be absolutely giddy if they have Queen's Princes of the Universe in the movie again.
I'm sure they'll use some of that somewhere in the movie, but I'm expecting the main theme to be new.

@emergencyawesome they'd better do a good job making this if they want cameos, because both Christophe and Adrian both said they aren't interested in cameos in a reboot (they've been trying to make this reboot since 2007).
In other words I'm a fan of both so would like to see them in it. But they need to do a good job to sell either of them on this to change their minds.
@emergencyawesome Mario Van Peebles. I tried to pitch a Highlander fighting game but I’m a regular degular old average person so I got no response. But they totally fudged this franchise with the last 3 movies so I hope they do a good job. Cavill also looks more like Duncan than Connor.

The Highlander McLeod sword is a type known as a Claymore. They were pretty common to own for men of most clans and it would likely have been made for Connor when he came of age. While they are fine swords, Ramirez' Katana would have been much easier to fight with in a lot of circumstances - especially when swords started to become lighter and smaller than the two-handed types

Nope. A claymore is a large 2 handed sword. It was never the main weapon and people often mix it up with the classic Scottish basket sword still used by officers in Scottish regiments. The first sword used in the film is pure Hollywood with no historical basis. There was a particular style of Scottish arming sword which pre dated both claymores and basket hilts but the one in the film looked nothing like those

Like many have said, the Queen music was a huge part of what made Highlander so special. I really hope they use some of it. They should totally open the movie with a bang using Princes of the universe, would be awesome. A kind of magic and who wants to live forever are great. Queen's New York New York was perfect in Highlander too.
Cavill is the only one I'd trust to do this.

You forgot to mention that the reason he is seen in holy places is because immortals can not fight or harm each other on consecrated ground. Also they have said several times that this film will finally blend and smooth out the edges and mythos from the movies, and the Duncan McCloud TV series.
