The Subway/Lightrail in Newark, New Jersey, USA 2022

- The line is a "subway-surface" line which runs underground from Penn Station to Warren Street, and above-ground north of Warren Street. Before becoming a part of the Newark Light Rail service, it was also known as the #7-City Subway line, an NJT Bus Operations route number carried over from its days when it was part of Public Service's Transport of New Jersey subsidiary. The number still applies internally. (During subway system closures, replacement buses would also bear the route number "7 City Subway.")
The segment is 5.3 mi (8.5 km) long and runs between Grove Street in Bloomfield and Newark Penn Station, a major transportation hub with connections to the PATH rapid transit system to Manhattan, multiple bus routes, and both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit Rail Operations trains.

The Newark Light Rail/subway originally operated with PCCs. There were several lines that entered/exited via ramps.
Modernization and new light rail equipment has bought the system into the current state offering better transit for the population.
Thanks Tim💚😀
Thank you so much. I made a one-time business trip to Newark in 2015. I wanted to perhaps ride the trolley, but in fact couldn't even see it because it was down in a tunnel. Now I've seen it clearly, thanks to great video.
You are the only one on RUclips to record walking down the entrance to the station for the Newark light rail, I appreciate you for that
Memories. I was an engineer for pse&g when it was converted from the 1890’s mercury arc rectifiers to solid state rectifiers. Thank you.
Great that New Jersey has a light rail
Thank you for recording these entrances
Absolutely outstanding video !!!!
By far, the fastest and cheapest ($1.60) way to get from Bloomfield to Newark Penn Station. I commuted on it to a previous job. I still take it to visit beautiful Branch Brook Park.
I use it go get to school in nutley nj it’s pretty nice tho ngl
They really need to extend this line to Elizabeth and Paterson.
TH❤NK YOU for your videos. ✌
Includes LRVs rebuilt with middle sections to increase capacity. Not all cars assigned to Newark light rail were rebuilt like that.
Didn't ride the branch to Newark Broad Street station via the arts district?
The new fare is $1.80 and they also print an expiration date for the use of the ticket
How does the train make that sound at 8:04-8:07
Nice looking cars, but very squeeeeky! The Military Branch station platform is super wide. Wonder why?
Another time coming filming trams Brăila
Why didn’t you show the street running?
Good video quality, do you use a go pro?
Nope! Thanks for complement!
No gates at crossings? That's an accident waiting to happen.
No gates, because the crossing at Orange Ave is protected by normal traffic lights. When traffic on Orange Ave has a green light, the train gets a red light and must stop. I'm old enough to remember riding the trolleys on the Central Ave line into downtown with my mom to shop at Bam's and Kresge's😮
@@pilotpete2 Orange Street. I used to live around the corner from the Orange St. station...on First St.
cool

Is safe there?
