Just had the pleasure of spending a few hours with the Fast family on our way to hunt pheasants. What a genuine and welcoming Christian family. I was greeted as if I was an old friend. This world needs more families like this. Even though I’m not a real country boy I plan to follow their adventures from now on.
Farming vids are great, family footage is awesome, your girls will remember this for life!! and so will you until their husbands have to start paying for the horses...
I know it's not easy to work with family all the time, but honestly it's the part about a farming family I enjoy watching the most. Reminds me of when I was a farmkid and we all worked together to help out back home. BTW good luck and many enjoyable moments to Collin, hope he's gonna have a great corny time.
I was wondering if it was okay with all concerned if Colin took a camera with, and did a little videoing of the Corn Harvest and Families you will be helping in Minnesota?
Got a good dust maker, thought it may chop and mix a little better. Good luck to Collin going to Minnesota for a few days or weeks. Be interested in seeing the finished corral.
When my brothers and I were kids, we had a go kart we rode in the pasture. The trail we rode on, was called Cow Patty Path! My big brother would purposely run the front passenger tire through the fresh patties and cover my brother or I in crap!
Dang you are going to be missed while you are gone Collin I am glad you are getting to do something you want to do. I hope you post on your Instagram account got let us know how you are doing and how you like it or not. Being from a farm I liked the corn I use to love to run through the fields. Dang that was dusty. Tony you and the wife could use more workers a few more kids.
Funny how following your channel for so long makes me like those distant ancient relatives that always say “My, My, how you little girls have grown so big!”
At least you have a skid steer to drill the holes. I had to use manual post hole diggers but I also learned real quick about the value of water. Put 5 gallons in and come back tomorrow. Good experience for the kids. Thanks
Equestrian , Road Apples, Meadow Muffins, Pasture Pucks, and the legendary, "Steaming Divot"! New green Lush pasture for cattle, Cow Pie. With hay and grain, Cow Patty, and after a gentle rain and a couple of hot days, Farm Frisbee. Similar to the, Sailrabbit.
I ordered a pair of Brunt work boots recently upon your recommendation. I've never had a real pair of comfortable work boots until now. So far the Brunt's are the best I've ever had.
Great video!! Thank you for the drone and ride along shots ... they add so much perspective of the country and farming. ☺ Also enjoyed and great to see your family working together .. and the cows made me smile and took me back 60 years to my growing up on a farm and curious and cute cows. Don't forget to go back and level out gthe dust piles from when you folded the Degleman😁 Be interesting to see if Colin pops up on RUclips in Minnesota. ... QUESTION Do farm trucks and tractors need to be licenced to go on the road ... here in Australia they do and its very expensive.👍👍
we saw some of the worst erosion in 80 years in our area from fields that had a degelman protill used on them this year. Blowing, washing, you name it. Filled ditches multiple times in some areas. I'd be really cautious where you use it
Nice video and great drone footage of the Degelman. If Torgerson,s can’t sell it to you we can probably take it off their hands! Major expensive piece of equipment. But they work great.
And I thought it was dry here in Nw Iowa How do you even grow anything. Tony when do you get most of your moisture winter from snow ? We usually get 78 in of snow during the winter but lately we have been getting short amounts. Love your drone footage. Colin will love harvesting in Minnesota, but you have a good man don't let him go !
The skills those girls learn by doing the work (& btw for those “safety ppl” pinched fingers taught the girls they should’ve listened to mom & got gloves, they will next time. Life lesson.) is much better than reading about it.
I feel your pain on drilling holes. Summer of 2005 it was super hot/dry in SD. I spent my entire 2 weeks vacation helping my parents put in 50 yards of fence posts across their barn yard. Place sets on a lot of rocks, but the ground was like cement that summer. I've been looking at the continuous fence... what did you use to attach it to the posts?
Hey Collin, I grew up in Minnesota and a classmate of mine was Brent Johnson! Brent and his dad and his brothers had a custom harvesting Business. Could it be the same Johnson custom harvesting you are going to help out? I grew up around Evansville Minnesota. 🤔🧐👀 I live in Bismarck North Dakota for near 30 years now!
@@FastAgMontana - Tony, If you have a chance to get in contact with Collin, tell him to say hi from Sam Hanson to Brent Johnson! Brent was a classmate of mine and his twin brothers were born when we were 12 or 13! It’s a small world, isn’t it! 👍😎🙏🏻
He LOVES them. Favorite pair of work boots he’s ever owned! He bought a second pair (unlined and no stew toe) for town shoes because he likes them so much.
That looks like a mighty impressive cultivation tool for breaking the soil up, however, do you have any concerns about either wind or heavy rain erosion damage seeing just how fine the disturbed soil has become following its use and just how hard and dry the deeper soil clearly is from the drought this recent months. There doesn't seem to be a speck of water in the soil being dug out for the post holes for the cattle / horses!
Do the tracks supposed to not compact the ground as much a the wheeled tractors ? I've noticed a few farmers are going to tracks in my area of eastern Kansas ( but I'm only really know of one for sure as I'm not able to get out & look at the farmers around my small area . I used to work on a family farm for 35 in and I remember miss it . I'm hoping for a good snow for you also .

The pro till is all that Mike Mitchell use, looks like a tab dry there, it’s dry here at my place in East Central Minnesota also
Should of went with some Nitto Trail Grapplers (Mud Grapplers are sweet, but you might not want THAT aggressive of Tire). They are sweet though. 👍🏻🤘🏻

There is a fair amount of organic matter mixed in. A good rain would seal the ground and hope for a good snow year.
