Thanks man this really made my combos more accurate. Now I can tell that a missed input is my fault and not from a weird setting in the control menu.

Alternate inputs are great for people using an arcade stick. Hitting diagonals on stick is very smooth compared to just hitting the four cardinal directions.
Ah okay. I probably should've mentioned this but I COMPLETELY forgot about those fight sticks!

I've never tried but, when I competed at a tournament I had guys using them against me
@@bigbossentertainment3488well it's simply different. Like if it was the first time you used a controller, but now it's the first time you use a fight stick. Japanese uses them because they grew up with arcade machines so it's easier for them
Arcade sticks seem more suited to games like SF, Tekken, and guilty gear as examples. Modern mortal kombat games seem to be built around pads. Saying that most modern fighting games are built more for pad use arcade sticks are really fun to use though. I've played hitbox, pad and stick. Hitbox is probably the best, but more so for other fgs mortal kombat is more suited to pad in my opinion, but I'm a scrub at all fgs, so take my opinion with a grain of salt 😅
for me i like having swap stance and block on LB/L1 and RB/R1 because the triggers are analog so it makes doing enhanced specials and things like Nitara air dash, Johnny taunt specials, or Shang age morph feel harder to me

For anyone playing on playstation, there is a mod for the d pad that separates the button. it's pretty awesome. I did damage my controller installing it, though, so maybe get someone to do it if you are unsure of installing it yourself
I actually just found these online yesterday! I can’t express enough how AWFUL the natural ps5 dpad is for MK it’s the worst experience I’ve had playing on PlayStation. I’ll be trying to do a combo and I’m just jumping all the time like an idiot! The only way you don’t mess it up is if you take your time to press the dpad, but then you aren’t doing it fast enough to be competitive

Thank you for creating this video. It would be helpful to know why the input timing is 'medium' instead of short and long. Otherwise, good video.
No problem and thanks man. Medium is usually sweet spot because Long just means you can push special movesinputs a bit more slowly for specials to still be able to come out. This would make it harder to do a back/forward normal attack without activating a special move.
Long is more for beginners who have trouble even doing a special move by itself.

Sub Zero is one of the easier characters to play with. He is definitely beginner friendly and you can use the frost kameo or sareena kameo. Those 2 kameos are the BEST for beginners and good all around
Raiden is good one. Great damage right now and his combos are not too tough to get down.
How do ysl a grab when requires pressing both the square and circle at the same time? It’s so hard for me to do

Wonder if i should get another ckntroller since rhe ps4 pro one is hard. Sory dor typos dont have a lot of dexterity when using the tablet
All good man glad you appreciated the video and got something out of it. You may need to try a Scuf controller or Battle Beaver. The controllers are about $200 if you get the basic one, but they're D-Pad or arrow pad buttons are actually completely separate, that way you never have this issue
Thanks for the recommendation, those scuf controllers seem amazing was going to go get a ps5 controller tomorrow but if it suffers from same issues as ps4 I'm prob better off with something custom. Hit box wouldn't really be used for any other games so these other ones I'll keep looking into thanks

The best controls for this game are Smash Bros controls. Think of it if you have R1 or R for grab and throw. And ZR and R2 for blocking. Then you'll have the best fighting experience ever. And if your left handed vice versa you could try putting grab and block on the left hand side. That way you'll never forget smash bros.

What is it importance of flip stance?
I believe it's just cosmetics, BUT for some characters in their moves list, flip stance will actually do something else for them
I use PS5 controller on PC. It’s the worst controller I’ve ever used for fighting games. PS4 controller Goated! 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Yeah I've gotten used to it on my ps5, but I think ps4 controller works better for fighting games too
When i play and i do a move too fast it will give me a different special for example i press triangle and then try to go into bicycle kick it will instead give me fireball idk if you get what i mean 😂 but is there something I can do
Are you using these settings? Your finger isn't pressing square at all is it? With these settings and good timing, you shouldn't have that issue

I still use these settings, I love them. I always land what I want to use and they're really comfortable
@@PqraNoiia So when I use Scorpion I often do his teleport on the ground when I'm trying to sweep so it make sense if it's holding 1, and when I hit down to sweep it pulls out down back 1 because some times I'm backing up and then go to sweep or go to use his long sweep.
@CowboyEpicEntertainment yes that probably is because of the release check being turned on, it really messes up the game
I hate how the arrow pad on the PS controller is basically tied together. It makes the game so much harder for me.
Bro I literally tried testing just tilting the down arrow towards the left to do a down back 1 fireball and it literally worked without even touching the left arrow. I did my special attack just from the bottom arrow.. it is bs honestly.
Is this what my problem is? I always misjump no matter what using the dpad. I have really bD arthritis in all my joints and using a controller is super painful, im using a ps4 pro controller but is there a better one for me? I can't even land li mei air kombo for her first tutorial kombo. I've played mortal kombat for 31 years so it's frustrating how hard the movement is making. Is ps 5 better than ps4 pro att least?
@@unknownuser3000 so most pro players prefer ps4 controllers, but that could definitely be what's causing you to misjump. You can try buying a fight stick and using that instead for VERY accurate inputs. I just think it might be hard to learn
For me Medium timing with everything else off works the best

Hey, his smoke cancels just require a very precise timing. I would go in practice mode for as long as you can and practice it. It took me a while to understand it but they aren't too bad now

No, I haven't tried yet, but I hope that my problem will be fixed, brother, explain again, I know how to cancel the simple run, but canceling the run doesn't work, whatever I do while hitting, that means we get accurate timing.

Any off brand controllers should work, but check your combo timing too

@@Joemal782 gotcha. Always remember #1 that it's literally just a video game. You aren't forced to play it, and it was made for entertainment right? If you're getting stressed from losing online, spend time in the practice room, play story mode, watch pro players' videos and copy them, and the last resort would be to take a break from the game.
My real advice and most important is spend hours in the practice room with 1 character trying to get better until you're so comfortable with that character that you can do lots of different combos with them and you know who is a good match up for you and who isn't.

If you read the button shortcuts description, it says "Toggles Multi-Button inputs FOR SINGLE button Moves" I turned this setting off and on and found these results.
With button shortcuts "OFF" you CANT press square and X at the same time to grab, it just ends up being a regular attack. You can STILL grab with R1/RB though.
im on steam, when i plug my ps5 controller it shows me xbox icon, can i change that?
I'm not sure about that
in most cases pc games will always use xbox buttons over playstation which kinda sucks. You're gonna have to wait until somebody makes a mod for it if the game allows it

I think you're mistaken. I'm in practice mode as i type this. We both MEAN/ prefer the same thing. In the video I explained that it is better to push a single button like R1 instead of pressing Square and X at the same time.

I feel like pressing 1 button (R1/RT) to grab/command grab is easier and quicker than trying to press 2 buttons at the same time.
It’s so hard to move foward without accidentally jumping or something
I believe at that point you just need to watch and be careful with your fingers

Well yes. When doing a combo, if you're close enough to your opponent or if the move has enough range to touch your opponent then you're fine. Arrows are the only way to play MK if you want to be good, unless you buy a fight stick / arcade stick

I spent the $119 on MK1 too. We'll get the DLC characters 1 week early before they release the first Kombat Pack. MK11 has less bugs for sure but there's no point going back to the old one.
