I'd completely forgotten about this arrangement of Jerusalem until I clicked on this, then immediately remembered the whole thing like it was yesterday.
When you compare the players in todays euro vs 96, 96 is far better. Glad to remember alot of the games when I was a kid. Players like, Deschamp, egar davids, Bergkamp, zz and thuram
It’s shame that every England game now starts with the lame sweet symphony pop music. This Jerusalem themed intro music from euro 96 was so memorable....itv continued with it until 99
There wasn't really much footage of England in the Euros before '96. The competition was previously tiny and the few times England was in, in '68 and '92 they fell flat. '96 was when it became more of a big deal as it expanded to 16 teams with quarter finals and a group stage and so became more of a mini-world cup.

Now this is what you call an intro 25 years later & still the best!.
Euro 2004 BBC 😉
Definitely this gives me goosebumps it’s amazing
Love this version of the song and intro montage - brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. Thank you for uploading!
Just discovered these titles now, beautiful
Whats the name
Greatest tv intro to a football tournament of all time period
Na plenty way better
I have to agree but I do love the bbc intro to the fifa 2002 world cup aswell.
It looks like an opening to Emmerdale as well.
Lol.
Tremendous comment
I forgot how good the itv Euro 96 intro was.
Back when 16 teams battled it out to see who is best today with 24 teams is too much and don't get me started on a 48 team world cup 😮💨
They keep expanding the tournament and this inevitably dilutes the quality. And yet Scotland still can’t get past the first round 😂
This was better than BBC for once.
Still brings a tear to the eye. Have gotten used to England losing since unfortunately.
Why did they scrap this theme proper gets you pumped up for a game god how I miss the 90's
True. Was a travesty when they did. This intro gives me goosebumps I also love the fifa world cup 2002 bbc intro too
@@karlpeart1752 glad you said about the goosebumps thought I was only 1! 👏
I was a teenager when Euro 96 was on TV 📺
Sad music , beautiful memmories , my greetings
The f""King sponsored by lasted longer than theme.

Quote from the description:
The BBC and ITV once again shared coverage and these are the BBC titles."
Even though the video shows the ITV titles...
No its the ITV opening titles 100%
I was 12 when this was on
Im irish if i was english this would ye proud
Best tournament theme surely? And no one say WC 1990 ffs. It's this!
A good BREXIT tune?
@@DuderinoDeux You posting pissed?
@@Scallion_D erm No. Not my country thank fuck.
@chazza JJ It's just quite an irritating song tbh. BBC's World Cup 1998 intro is better than that too.
do you mean itvs france 98 tune, surely not the bbc version? itvs was immense
It had been snappily titled since Euro '80 (for the uninitiated..) LOL!
Spine chilling stuff 👍
Vauxhall Vectra…what a beast lol
@.22 seconds into the intro if you look at top left corner it says “888” if you pressed teletext, this would give you the subtitles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I forgot about that

Michael Cox Totally agree. ITV need to change it as it's getting stale. It needs a fresh new look.
@@TB..... ITV used that in their coverage of the FA Cup
Bittersweet Symphony never gets stale.
Probably dont use it anymore because the title can be considered "racist" and not "inclusive"
Dose it matter what the song or theme sounds like
Yet showing scenes from past world cups?
Also Romario doing kick ups for Barcelona in the Champions League against Galatasaray.

Dammit Burns
Euro 96 and now 96 likes for video
Not a patch on the BBC's opening with ode to joy!
They don't even make opening titles like this anymore
Thank God!
Yes they do. They still have f***ing SPONSORS IN THEM.
@@MrThecarebear Oh well, but never seen one like this again in the past 20 years
The best intro by far closely followed by bbc intro to the 2002 World Cup
Much better offering than the BBC's Ode to Utter Crap!!
🇩🇪
BBC and ITV both disappointing music and titles for Euro 96
This is the best theme ever
Both were great.
