  • The inside tire rack I made did the job, but just took up all my space basically... so decided to build a swing out tire carrier using a hinge from "www.4xinnovati..." which I found while watching a video on RUclips " • 1st gen Tacoma rear bu... " I got all the steel material at a local steelyard and the spare tire wheel plate from a buddy who got it from "www.ballisticf..."

The narration you gave was really nice. You explained your thought process nicely. Thank you! I've been gathering ideas for my own swing out project.

Nice build! Do you get any sag when you open the carrier? Do you have to lift up on the arm as you close the carrier? I'm thinking about doing the same thing. My tire weighs about 200lbs

Thanks man... I really like how it turned out! At 1st I had a lot.of twist in the end of the bumper as I think I covered in the video.. then I welded in some angle iron and tied that all together and virtually eliminated all sag... there may be like 3/16 of an inch I have to lift to close and latch it.. but not a big deal at all.

Is your tire actually a tank tread? Heavy tires

Is that 2"x3" box? And is it 1/8" wall? Looked like 1/8" but hard to tell if it's 3/16" or 1/8".

First question, why would anyone build an explorer? Its a nice rig, dont get me wrong. Why not a jeep, or why an explorer? Are you related to columbus or magellan. Name sounded cool. Lol what.

Everyone has a jeep or a yota, and RUclips is diluted with those builds so why not something different

Anyone can build, or I mean "bolt on" parts to a Jeep. This all goes back to my 1st vehicle being a 1988 Ford Bronco II. For some reason, it was always my favorite, but when I was 16, I was never able to "build it." So many years later, I picked one up and started building one, then with the family, I needed more room. So I started planning a 1 ton v8 swapped explorer build, and I love it. I love to stand out from the rest, and it feels better knowing that I actually planned this build and then built it.
