    Unfolding on the beach and streets of Benin. A heartfelt letter from a mother to her future daughter expresses the challenges and joys of growing up as a woman. Through song and dance, a tribe of women dispel fairy tales myths to center embodied values of feminine power: strength, independence, and self-worth. Their rebellious spirits find freedom and joy through the rhythms of their bodies as hands clap, shoulders shake, hips swirl, and feet stomp out of their bold dreams of womanhood.
    Michael Maurissens is a Belgian choreographer, filmmaker and cultural practitioner based in Germany. He founded the MichaelDouglas Kollektiv which focuses on the development of collective creation methods within contemporary dance fostering dialogue at the interfaces to disciplines such as communication, architecture, choreography and conflict resolution.
    Since 2010, Michael Maurissens has expanded his artistic pursuits into graphic design, photography, and filmmaking, serving as a filmmaker, cameraman, and editor. In 2013, he successfully completed his postgraduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
    He currently directs and produces films and experimental video works, documents performances, collaborates on art projects, and leads screendance workshops worldwide. Through dance and filmmaking, he fosters meaningful cross-cultural collaboration and dialogue, using both mediums as participatory tools for creative engagement.
    His films delve into the body as an archive and explore the practice of dance within diverse social and cultural contexts. His interdisciplinary approach has facilitated film production and purposeful collaborations across a diverse range of countries including China, Germany, Japan, Uruguay, Tanzania, India, Spain, Morocco, Palestine, Italy, Egypt, Benin, Turkey, Switzerland, and Senegal.
