    They're called the Browns because they're named after Paul Brown, the colors aren't related to the name. Paul Brown liked the color scheme of Bowling Green, a college team which is brown and orange, and also Massillon which is a notable high school in Ohio that wears black and orange. The Browns uniform scheme is basically a combination of Bowling Green and Massillon.

    • @robertbayer3068

      Paul Brown was also the coach of Massillon High School, was the coach of Ohio State for their first championship, was the first coach of the Browns, and after being unceremoniously fired created the Bengals. He’s a Ohio and football legend.

    • @vct454
      @vct454 10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah Paul Brown essentially founded the entire AFC North, Browns, Ravens, and Bengals all originated from him. The Steelers are the step child that nobody likes.

      @MrPloppy1 10 месяцев назад +1

      Being from Massillon and walking under the bronze statue of Paul Brown into Paul Brown Tiger Stadium for home games, I can confirm this. Brown was called the “Miracle Man from Massillon” in the papers at the time. He’s the only head coach in the history of the sport to win national titles at all 3 levels (high school, college, and pro). He wanted to pay homage to his beloved hometown Tigers, but didn’t want to use full out orange and black for fear alienating the rest of northeast Ohio and liked the Bowling Green University’s orange and brown color scheme.

    • @larrykinnard
      @larrykinnard 10 месяцев назад

      @@vct454 Paul Brown also was the reason the Steelers are who they are, he coached Chuck Noll, who in turn used Brown's style of coaching with the Steelers. Then of course you have Bill Cowher who served as the special teams coach and secondary coach for Cleveland Browns (1985-88), and following an NFL playing career as a linebacker and special teams player with Browns.

    • @PhuckYT12
      @PhuckYT12 10 месяцев назад

      @@vct454 Steelers didn't originate from him, nor was he related to their success of the 1970s. Steelers were created in the 1930s as the Pirates, suspended for WW2, and then returned in 1943 as the Pittsburgh Steelers.
      Contrary too what Kitcorpse said, he didn't use Brown's coaching style. His style was more reminiscent of those he was tutored under, being Sid Gillman and Don Shula, particularly Shula.

    The Browns were actually named after the original owner. This is actually Cleveland’s 2nd team! The first Cleveland Browns team move to Baltimore and became the Ravens after Baltimore lost their team the Baltimore Colts. The Baltimore Colts actually left in the middle of the night, in a snow storm & no one knew about it.

      Also, when a franchise moves (in any American professional sport) to another city, their whole history moves with it, like any records or titles, even if the name is changed. But in the Browns and Ravens situation, the original Browns records stayed with the current one & the Raven act move like an expansion team.

    The Browns were founded in 1944, and the co-founder Paul Brown would eventually become the team’s first head coach. While the team did not have a name yet it was usually referred to as Paul Brown’s team. This led many to call for the team to be named the Browns despite Paul Brown’s objections. The businessman Arthur McBride, the other founder, eventually gave into popular demand and named the team the Cleveland Browns. Brown never liked to admit that the team was named after him, but the team and the NFL acknowledge that this is indeed how the name originated.

    Occasionally,Matthew you will see NFL offensive lineman push the running back for extra yards on run plays mainly up the middle.It's called "Pushing, or Moving The Pile".Alll teams does it,until the referees blow the whistle to signal the play is over.You can see this type of run play from the Philadelphia Eagles a lot on short yardage like 4 and 1,or 2.It's called by two names."The Tush (Tush aka your Bum) Push",and The Brotherly Shove" named after the city of Philadelphia's nickname "The City Of Brotherly Love" Like Houston,Texas is also called "The Bayou City"🏈🇺🇲

    -The Browns were named as a result of a fan contest. They choose to name them after their first football coach who was a beloved coach in high school, Massillon, college, THE Ohio State University. He would later fall out with the new owner, and leave. He then went to Cincinnati and formed the Bengals.... The team colors were what Brown liked, it was similar to the colors of the high school he coached at and another college in the state ....
    -The Ravens STOLE the Browns from Cleveland. This is their second team. They fought to keep the colors and name, usually that goes with the team.
    -Funny, Travis and Jason are from Cleveland. Cleveland Heights. That's why their podcast is named, "New Heights". You should watch it, it's pretty good...

    This is a huge rivalry. Baltimore originally had the Colts but they moved to Indianapolis. Baltimore begged the NFL for an expansion team as compensation, but instead the original Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, and an expansion team went to Cleveland to become the Browns. Basically Cleveland is Wimbledon and Baltimore is MK Dons.

      @TenTonNuke..... but if you are a TRUE Browns fan, you love our team NO MATTER WHAT. We don't jump on the bandwagon for another team that is always winning. Some of our former fans have, and in my opinion I don't want any of those "flavor of the month" fans returning to the Browns when and IF they start winning big time ALL the time. I was around when the Browns' were top of the league during the '50s and early '60s, so I HAVE witnessed a lot of winning years. I want to SEE them get back to that before I run out of time on this earth.

They spent a 4th round pick on a kicker last year, cut him and traded for this guy. They have been rewarded by the trade with him winning special teams player of the week 2x in a row, now this clutch game. Join the movement #superbowlsuperbrowns

      @mostlynobody517 I too grew up in Cleveland, and been a fan since I could understand football better when I was 6 years old, I was 17 the LAST TIME our BROWNS won the Championship game in 1964 (it WASN'T called the "Superbowl" until 1966) THe Browns won a LOT of Championships (later called the "superbowl") during the '50s. THAT is why I get REALLY upset when fans from a certain nearby city in PA, keep telling us that the Browns "never won a "superbowl." I tell them how we used to beat the pants off them back in the '50s and won the TOP end of the season games, BEFORE those same games were called a "Superbowl" it STILL COUNTS because it was the LAST game with the LAST 2 teams playing in the entire league. SO, I would LOVE to see our Cleveland BROWNS finally WIN another "Championship" ("Superbowl) but I am running out of time! 76 now, closer to '77 in 3 months. GO BROWNS!!!!!!
