She used to hit me until I got old enough to fight back. She had a volatile humour and would flip out over the smallest things. I was a very depressed child, developed an eating disorder, and I wasn't ever really allowed an outlet. She could be angry for days, and would sometimes come to yell at me in the middle of my sleep, sometimes pulling me out of bed and such. I used to fear her killing me in my sleep, so I'd move a dressed in front of the door before I went to sleep, so I'd notice her trying to get in and wake up in time to defend myself. It worked until she took my door. I've been told variations of "well she must've done something right since you're such a nice person" or "maybe it's why you're so nice and helpful" etc. etc. - _I_ did that. Me!

Florida is having a huge population boom, and I live in what used to be the country but is now, sadly, one suburb after another. Down the road a piece, a builder put a driveway on the land of the farmer next door. The farmer complained but our county commissioners are either realtors or closely tied to builders, so they chose to do nothing. The farmer then put a fence on his property, enclosing the driveway. And he put all these pigs in the pen. The stench was incredible and the homeowner started the process to sue the builder. The builder was forced to put the driveway where it should have been in the first place and eat the cost. The farmer was compensated and removed the pigs. Everyone but the builder is living happily ever after.
The story of the bully of a 4 yr old, who is telling the OP that he is wrong with how he or his 1 yr old are being? I am a mother of 5 and I applaud him greatly, he did exactly what needed doing! I hope it helps that little girl be a better person!

People in positions of authority need to be held to a higher standard, and should never be allowed to get away with breaking the law, even if you think embarrassing their mother is enough of a punishment
