What a legend of a restaurant and family! This island has been through worst of the worst. Miss you ono family!

Thank you Kenny & OFR for the great service and the delicious breakfasts. We loved your shave ice, too. Your restaurant was the GOAT-authentic and fresh. For us, the very best on the entire island of Kauai. We always tipped the wait staff as much as we could afford because we appreciate a family-run business just like yours. The place could be absolutely maxed out with customers and the food never suffered. We loved and will miss it! The fresh mango, the coconut syrup, and freshly made food items were amazing! Thank you for the great meals. God bless and take care of yourselves. Aloha!

I'm so, so sad about this. We got married on Kauai in 2003 (got our marriage license at the Pono Fish Market) and Ono Family Restaurant was our home away from home every time we come back to the island.

Mr. Ishii, my wife and I honeymooned in on Kauai in Feb. 1994. We stayed at Pono Kai then. Your restaurant was our daily breakfast each and every time we've visited Kauai ever since (8x if memory serves me correctly), even when we have stayed in Princeville. Ono Family restaurant was always the start of our day. The Local Boy omelette for me, and the Pancakes and freshly made Coconut Syrup for my wife.
We are so sorry for you and your communities' losses during this time. We had hoped to come back this spring but it looks like the restrictions are going to be too prohibitive for us to make it work. We wish you and your former employees the best of luck. While we do not feel the loss as you do, we will still truly miss Ono Family Restaraunt and it's employees we saw each and every time we came to the Garden Island.
Mahalo for the many incredible memories that started with Ohana, an omelette and some pancakes.

My wife and I ate there in 2018 while staying at Pono Kai, we both enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We are coming back in the next week and hope you guys have re-opened by some miracle. Sorry, for the pain that Covid and the government placed on you and your employees.

This so very sad. We have been frequent visitors to Hawaii, first in '65. Probably our first visit to Ono Fam.Rest. was in 1980 when we had our children with us. We would always stay at Koke'e but every visit since (about 13) we have made it a point to come here for breakfast usually with an order of Eggs Canterbury and an "aloha special" smoothie. We hope you, your family and staff can remain healthy as we all battle through this, even months later.

I wanted to tell this wonderful family how much their restaurant meant to our family..we first visited Kauai in 2016 (and then every year until COVID hit). Our very first day on the island we stopped to get shave ice. It was such a fun treat and we were made to feel so welcomed. We tried a few others over the years but it was always our favourite and always our first stop. We also enjoyed our breakfasts very much. We understand why you are closing, but just wanted you to know you will be missed 😢😢😢 wishing you all the best & stay safe..the people of Kauai are in our hearts ❤

We are so sorry. We remember your lovely breakfasts and other stuff. We haven't been there for many years, but here in the Bay Area of SF we have some wonderful restaurants that have
had to close and that is sad. But better to keep yourself and your family and employees safe. We have had some success with being open for take out, but the other thing that is beginning
to work for us is our city and school district buying food from restaurants to give seniors and school kids and their families. We wish you all the best and hope you will find another way to
make a living or find a way to reopen. With vaccinations, we have some options opening. Thanks for avoiding "politics" in your statement. It's simple science that it's a deadly virus, very contagious and it effects us all including people that don't believe in science.

Mr. Ishii- SO SORRY to hear of the economic effects to you. sad to say we'd never had the chance to eat at the restaurant. We have a Timeshare at the Marriot in Lihue, but we always stopped for Shaved Ice at Ono's on our way to the North Shore! My son works as a Line Cook in San Francisco, but he hasn't been able to do any cooking for several months now! I hope the economy returns for everyone in the hotel and restaurant industries! Good Luck in all your endeavors in the future! Stay Safe and with the vaccine now, I think we can survive this!

Florida has been open for business with tourists coming since last summer. Business volume is down, but people are working and businesses are surviving. People wear masks and try to maintain a safe distance, but life goes on.
It is horrible that Hawaii’s government officials decided to destroy their local economy in the name of safety. Other places have shown that the total lockdowns were not necessary.
Remember this at election time. In a democracy, the people get the government they choose. Next time choose more wisely.

In this day and age as people are facing the loss of everything they worked so hard for, jumping to outrageous conclusions and shifting blame, censoring the God-given right to free expression of others they disagree with and giving into mob rule with petty bickering and irrational squabbling...this is happening more and more often than ever imaginable. Contemplatively, I am reminded of 2 Kings 20:1-2 which states very plainly, "Get your house in order!".

To keep healthy take vitamin d, vitamin c, quercitin, zinc, and if you can get Ivermectin or Hydroxychloriquine, they will protect you and/or help your symptoms if you do get it.
So sorry to hear of your closing. Wishing you the best for you and your employees futures.
Unfortunately, it was politics that closed down some states more than others. The open states are no worse off than the locked down states. Actually, they are better off for businesses not closing.
    Again, so so sorry.
