I have been fortunate to live near The Brandywine Valley & enjoy his work & son Jamie’s talent in their museum .
Must be a wonderful experience 🙏😊 So happy to hear
Christina was Wyeth’s disabled neighbour, who refused to use wheelchair. But it is actually his wife, who sat for this portrait/painting.
Fascinating, thank you so much for sharing 🙏
This is the thing I wondered about the most
A replicate poster of Christina's World hung in my childhood home's dining room. I was always totally enthralled with this picture. When I went to NYC and purposely went to MOMA just to see the glory of the original. The painting speaks so deeply to me and I just stood there and cried.
Amazing! Your connection to it is so unique, after being exposed to it at a young age and so frequently.
Art is amazing, thank you for sharing 😊
One thing that stood out to me was how you talk about the era that Wyeth was painting in. The Great Depression I’m sure had a huge influence on him. In the paintings I see how he’s seeing beauty in very normal things and still conveying the sadness of the times. I love to hear your thoughts on different artists. So interesting. Definitely do more of these.
Thank you so much Jacqueline 🙏😊
More to come, I want to also explore more of this time period for sure.
The melancholy undertones are fascinating
I agree. I don't have a formal art education and appreciate being introduced to artists I'm not familiar with. ❤
Very interesting. Thanks 👍
Very realistic pictures.
In addition to his technical skills, Wyeth's real skill was bringing curiosity to his paintings. We are curious what and who the people in his paintings are and who lives in the houses he includes.
Indeed, I see them and immediately they have their own lives, interests and history.
I assume all of that without questioning at all (:
I really enjoyed your commentary! Much as I love his work, and the many times I have looked at it in books and in person at the gallery, I always see something new. I think MY mood influences what I am ABLE to see. You spoke of many things I haven't seen before!
That makes a lot of sense to me! (:
I love when representational / realistic art - still has that quality of being open to some interpretation, and sharing different things with you every time you observe it
Love this overview! I grew up in that area along the Brandywine River. He is one of my favorites. (p.s. Christina was a neighbor of Wyeth's; she was not able to walk - I can't remember why. Anyway, she is supposedly the inspiration for the painting.)
Polio?
Thank you for watching! 🙏😊
I'm learning a lot from reading the comments here
Nice to see a video today! Love n hugs to sweet Ruth and family :)
Some of the family’s work is at a local art museum so it was awe-inspiring to enjoy their talents nearby. Appreciate your evaluation of Wyeths work ‼️🎨🖼🖌️
Must be great having it close by! So glad you enjoyed this one 🙏😊
Happy you are healthy
Thank you my friend 🙏😊
So far so good haha 😅
Mr. Wyeth used to come to restaurant where I worked at while I was a teenager. I’m sure I was gaping every time I saw him but I couldn’t help myself. If my mouth doesn’t say it, my face certainly will.
Haha amazing! I'm sure many would react that way 😅
Your reviews on artists past and present helps me not to get 'stuck' but to be open and explore art. You do this so well and freely Liron. Yes 'uniqueness' was all about this artist. I have to find my own ..its hiding somewhere but i will find it. And by listening to you it is incredibly inspiring you seem to smash away my limitations and inspire me. Loved this. Thanks Liron!
I am so grateful for the kind words 🙏😊
Thank you, and I know you will find it - it's in plain sight
Thank you for this. I am from Rockland, Maine, the home of the Wyeth Museum and Art Center. Having lived here all my life, I have visited the museum numerous times. I even know a couple of his early models personally. He liked to paint people with Scandinavian blood. Mr Wyeth's work evokes a certain mood. No bright colors, except a touch of blue or some red geraniums. Of course I have one of his prints on my wall, "Master Bedroom". I am happy you have found you on youTube. I am finally retired and trying my hand and eyes at watercolor painting. A challenge!
Thanks Liron! I've had a print of Christina's World for about fifteen years now and yet I only discovered the full history behind it a couple of years ago. Absolutely fascinating!
Watercolours, good ones, are absolutely fascinating. I love it.
I wonder what you think of the paintings of Louise Rayner. I'd love to know the colours she'd have had in her palette.
This was fantastic. Would love this to become a series featuring different painters.
Thank you 😊🙏🏼
Well, there is one! It’s called Painting Masters and this is part of it (:

I think Forest Gump movie took this type of scene for their Jenny scene.
Great commentary and video capture
Thank you so much 🙏😊
Thanks!
Thank you so so much for your support 🙏😊♥
Take your face off the screen. Takes up room that could be used to show the art work.
My mom loved Andrew Wyeth’s work, and passed that appreciation on to me. It is inspirational. I was surprised to learn his father was also an artist who died in a tragic accident with his grandson. Thanks for highlighting his work!
Indeed! Such a tragic event.
They were practically a family of painters
Thank you! So insightful and love your breakdown of this master's work... Greatly appreciated ❤🙏
So happy you enjoyed it 😊
So glad to see you today! Thank you for posting. It means a lot to us.
Thank you 🙏😊
Perhaps there will be a bit more of a torrent of videos in the next couple of weeks (:
The Olsen house in Cushing,ME, featured in “Christina’s World”, is still in place and available to be visited through the Farnsworth Museum
Sounds very interesting! Will have in mind if I ever visit the US again (:
This was a very enjoyable talk and exploration of Andrew Wyeth's work. Thank you for sharing the images and your thoughts on his work. Good stuff! :)
Thank you for the kind words & for watching! 🙏😊
Very nice overview Liron of one of the giants of 20 century art. Wyeth painted his neighbors and the countryside around Chadds Ford, PA. and Cushing, Maine. He painted only in these two locations all his life. When I first started painting in high school is when I first came across Wyeth's work, and I was immediately drawn to it. One of the most unique design elements in all his paintings is that everything is in focus! It's not at all how the eye sees a scene, but somehow your brain accepts it, and it does give his work a strange surreal quality, otherworldly you might say. Cheers!
Cheers my friend! 🍻 Thank you for sharing, and so glad you enjoyed this one 🙏😊
I'm learning a lot from the comments
Thank you for doing this. That painting of Christina has always reminded me of the struggle of women over 100 years or more ago, how hard they worked to raise a family and keep a farm going. There is tension between her and the house.
It also reminds me of a poem by Sharon Olds called, “That Moment,” about when her life pivoted. Check it out. ❤
Fascinating, will check it out.
Thank you for sharing 🙏😊
No doubt. Even WITHOUT a farm, raising a family and operating a household is extremely demanding, at least as much as, if not more than a full time job.
I love Andrew Wyeth! I'm so glad you covered this, I appreciated your insights. One of the things I love about "Christina's World" is that I've seen it hundreds of times but each time I see something new in it. I feel like I should be tired of that painting but I never am.
Indeed, I can relate! I feel this way towards many of the paintings here 😁
"Look at this. Who does this?"😂 I feel that. I might've dropped that tiny amount of treeline from the composition. Maybe he did at first but it didn't feel right?
And Christina feels so ungrounded in the picture, so separate. It's eerie. Love it.❤
Thanks Liron that was a fascinating look at some of Andrew Wyeth’s work..I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on each painting and pointing out things that I didn’t even see!
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you 😁
I really enjoyed this video. I have several of his paintings in my photos for inspiration! Thanks!
My pleasure 🙏😊 So grateful to hear you enjoyed this one
Grew up in Pennsylvania and I would say that looks like a sycamore tree.
Thank you, was wondering about that 🙏😊
Though after a google search I'm still unsure, perhaps he has taken some liberties (:
Great video, L. Love when you do deep dives into various artists’ works
Thank you Christina 🙏😊
thank you .i love lots of color but is work is so good .
Indeed, he is way more subtle when it comes to the color palette (:
I learned to greatly enjoy such art, even though I have the same propensity towards COLORS and contrasts 😁
Thanks. I learned a lot.
Thank you for watching! (:
Thanks for video
Thank you for watching 🙏
I learned a lot!
So glad to hear (: Thank you for watching!
