This video truly encompassed the lifetime of a battle royale. First, it applies the core mechanics of a certain genre and has bare gameplay at the forefront. After that, it adds new gameplay elements in an attempt to make it more interesting/unique. Then, it gets oversaturated by forcibly adding other media into the game. Then the game dies.

Started as a silly RPS stream, became an allegory for the state of battle royale games and how it's more important to follow trends than focus on game design.
Truly only a published author such as Douglas Douglas could've come up with such a narrative. Bravo!
I think adding some unique mechanical traits to the additional characters could make this much more interesting:
-Superman locks onto the nearest player, killing indiscriminately as he already does
-Batman locks onto the current team leader and kills anyone that gets in his way
-Thanos is a stationary spawn that picks one team at random and kills any of those players within a certain proximity of him
-Miku is a stationary spawn that draws in nearby players with her music, slowly dragging them closer to her until she respawns somewhere else; touching her kills you and you could only escape her pull if you happen to be moving the opposite direction
-Lastly I suggest we add Goku, who would fly from one edge of the screen to another, giving anyone he touches a permanent speed boost as a result of training with him; he would be the only one that's helpful to the players because Goku is just a great guy
-The DVD logo is already perfect

Unironically this game looks incredibly addicting.
Id easily put hours into this just for the luck aspect alone. the placement and option choice skill checks are a great bonus.
And chat's suggestions for a house and customization options would be so peak in a real version of the game.
Things like the DVD logo or superman would be once-per-game random event to spice things up.

also, we used my pickup truck instead of his car because regular passenger vehicles have emergency releases in the trunk to get out, but the bed of my pickup truck just has a few metal latches and then you're stuck in there, so we thought it was extra funny to use my truck because then Doug is actually literally just trapped in there

I think the best version of this would be have the player with the highest kill count’s location not appear on the map until everyone else has already placed theirs, they may enter it and edit it until the number 2 player places then they have a final one or two seconds to change it before they are set. This of course should also apply all the way down, ties of course would drop at the same time.
This incentivizes seeking kills despite your best chance of making it to the next round being letting the faction that you can kill survive as long as possible in as great of numbers as possible.
Judging by how the objects are moving, it doesn’t seem like players are controlling them
