Sockets used are a 10mm and a 13mm. If you just want to remove them, it's just a 13mm. All the fuel lines are on the drivers side, inside the frame. The lines that run by the running board on the passenger side are for the rear heat and air. 18- 13mm bolts and the steps are off. Process takes less then 10 minutes.
Thanks was heading to the junkyard to get me some wanted to know what size to take with me although once im there i might want to take more than one thing.
i buy running board for my tahoe 07 and i got 8 short bolts and 4 long when i check the brackets i think i need 4 more bolts is that right or its come with only 4 and 2 bolts for each side ?
Can you just unbolt the running boards straight front the brackets that hold onto the body and all together in one piece, or do u have to take the running boards off the brackets separately?
All I can say is that those 13MM (M8) bolts on the "upper" bottom of the brackets can become a royal PAIN to get in when installing.. For the record, trial & error taught me that they're metric M8 (1st of all) AND those ones on the bottom gotta be 40MM long vs the 20MM M8 bolts that will work on the side walls (otherwise they wont "reach" far enough to get through the screw holes that are built into the body). Those bolts really killed me... I got so far, HOME STRETCH, & then all the sudden they just wouldn't start through the built-in screwhole no matter which angle I attempted. Driver side is missing ONE of them since the front bracket was MIA on both I ordered), but the other side is missing TWO of them both because of the missing front bracket and my inability to get the damn thing to start through the scewhole (I gave up lol). Thankfully both sides are solid regardless of this AND regardless of the missing front brackets (since theres a bolt near the very front end of each running board which makes that front bracket less important once you remove that bolt, flip it around & scew UPWARDS)... But yea, I got em tight enough so that the missing front brackets aren't an issue & no "gap" remains between the running boards & the body. Might see if I can bribe the next mechanic into attempting to get those last two bolts in for me, since its probably alot easier to do when the cars up on a lift. Either way, it'll be a cold day in Hell before I ever remove these after all the Hell I went through just to get em installed lol currently have a 2012 SSV & I'm absolutely DREADING going through this process all over again when I get my first PPV (assuming the running boards have been removed on that as well).
dee williams . First, thanks for the question; I appreciate it! Unfortunately, I doubt it since the left and right sides are mirror images of each other (like left and right hands). Especially due to the 2 piece construction of the running boards. But I will double check that for you within the next week. It's possible they are interchangeable if the small 'front' piece is removed. I'll get back to you on this soon.
