Janek, I truly appreciate your vlogs and "straight talks" about doing the work. You've inspired me to start playing bass a year ago (just got a high c five string!!), but you talking about doing the work necessary has mostly influenced my drumming, as it's my main instrument. Truly an inspiration!!
This video was a breath of fresh air Janek. I've been watching many videos lately made in that way... the 3 things to make this, the one thing every bass player should do... while I get the reasons why teachers make this kind of content on RUclips, and they can also be useful for some specific stuff... at the end of the day yeah, as you say they create false ideas and a toxic environment. That rarely delivers results or learning. Transcribing and assimilating gets you 100% results instead of a 2% gained with shortcuts. Plus, it's so much more fun! Thanks man.
hey janek, just wanted to say how much I love you vlog. this one helped especially because my dad is a world class guitar player, studies with Link Chamberlin in Connecticut. so I sometimes take for granted the opportunities I've hade playing music. you've inspired me to start practicing several hours a day again. keep up the good work.

Loving your work Janek - you are my morning routine. Coffee and Janek... love it. Want to challenge you on the 'don't learn it, feel it' thing. If we are look at your success and progress in tennis - if your coach said, don't learn theory, don't waste time understanding and studying what has been documented about technique and game-theory - just play, and have fun. Would that make sense? If you got on a plane and the pilot said 'I never learnt theory of flying, I just watched a load of pilots and then figured it out for myself - i've got my own style' - does that make sense? I know flying and tennising and bassing are different things - but don't you need to know the rules, in order to break them? Otherwise it's a long journey.
Glad the airline didn't lose your bass. How's the search going with the pd regarding your other basses and gear? I wish you well. *-----Q-----*
Hello Janek, Great work with the videos! Can you talk about your process on improvisation and what means for you "not think"while improvisation. I understand that at some point you have enough musical information but how does it translate (or how can we translate {the process}) into something improvise?

Hey janek, once I asked you in the live instagram Q&A about playing with a pick, and you said you like it and mentioned a few bass players you like who uses a pick. Can you talk about it a little more and perhaps do a lesson about pick playing in different styles? cheers!

I think you should forget the mineral water/gym/tennis bollocks and develop a smack habit. Do more for your playing than reps and mixolydian modes.
