There is copyrighted music used in the film, which is really compelling
If you use modern free youtube music
Has lost its original historical significance
Please forgive me all the copyright owner

    • @uBeenTag

I completely agree that modern music may not suit your film. However, you likely don't need to worry about copyright issues if the songs are oldies. If you're still concerned, feel free to send me your song requests, and my friends would probably be able to assist.✌

Wow, Thomas, words cannot truly and adequately express our gratitude to you for the time, passion and effort that it must have taken you to collate and upload these snapshots of our cinemas from a past era. Absolutely priceless! For those of us of a certain vintage who had the privilege and destiny to have actually physically and materially savoured the experience of movie viewing inside these vintage buildings, just the recollection of those moments bring on such a flood of nostalgia pinings. Pleasure, pain and poignancy - all a mixed bag really. It is the veritable price of progress that the old, where they are deemed out of sync and step with contemporary times and need, must give way for change to supplant (some say usurp) them in the larger scheme of things. Sad but inevitable (although in the expansive countryside of some countries, time does seem to stand still, at least on the surface). The other side of the coin is of course the ultra-modern, breathtaking and exquisite architectural icons that now dot our Singapore landscape (Marina Bay, Esplanade, Changi Airport, MRT, the lot) that are the undisputed pride and gems for the whole world to enjoy.
This is my first time commenting on your video uploads and this is the my first viewing since a while back. So I hope not to speak out of touch and context with the following suggestions, please :
    i) Maybe for each photo frame in future, you could freeze it for say, at least 15 seconds so viewers can take in all the details, especially those little nooks and obscure elements that are of supreme interest to those who hold dear their personal connections to the particular cinema in question. As it is now, it can be quite a rush before the next picture comes on. Of course we can always use the pause button, provided we do so within the fleeting time allotment. Not a big deal, but it does augment the viewing pleasure quotient.
ii) If you are up for it, English text could be incorporated for those not versed in Chinese characters/script. I'm okay with Mandarin (and Cantonese, yay!)
iii) My previous residence was at the now-demolished Queen's Crescent rental flat neighbourhood (off Queensway) so Golden City and Venus cinemas at Margaret Drive ("The One-Armed Swordsman, Wang Yu") hold very deep resonances for me (man, I can feel the tears welling up in my heart even as I am typing now). King's cinema, once located at Jalan Membina, (opposite Tiong Bahru MRT station) was also another favourite haunt of mine (I believe it did screen the Taiwanese classic "Feng cong na li lai" , arguably Wan Sha Lang's greatest pop hit, and starring the late Ke Jun Xiong). Majestic Cinema, along Eu Tong Sen Street (Chinatown) was where I joined the snaking queues to lay my very excited hands on tickets for Bruce Lee movies. This particular video montage seems not to have included The Oriental cinema (Dong Fang Xi Yuan), situated previously along New Bridge Road, diagonally opposite Majestic. What about Pacific cinema within the much cherished Great World Amusement Park? Such wonderful, simpler times, with basic entertainment options and much cheaper tickets to boot! (Joget Dancers charging 50 cents for one dance to one song! Wonder how the very attractive ladies are doing now, in 2021?). And of course not to omit Jurong Drive-in cinema, South East Asia's first such marketing innovation, I understand. Perhaps these old movie houses are in your other video uploads?
iv) Again, the background choice of Mandarin movie soundtrack and dialogue will be Greek to those not familiar with the language. Maybe include also audio snippets of English films as a much appreciated service to a wider spectrum of viewers here? I'm sure the majority will agree.
Just some passing thoughts coursing through my fatigued mind , in the wee hours of the morning this day. I hope to offer more constructive and
applicable ideas with more viewings. And certainly I look forward to more viewers' comments and reminiscences. For instance, perhaps Mr Mohd Yusuff Sharif, one of your commenters below, could be kind enough to share his recollections of Malay films of old, vignettes and the odd and quaint encounter with patrons, episodic highlights etc. That would really be very good indeed!
Once again, Thomas, our deep heartfelt thanks to you for the opportunity to take a peep into our private moments of our past years. You stay strong!

      @@singaporethomasgiam5608
You are doing fine, Thomas, serious. In addition to the still photos and background audio embellishments, maybe you would like to share, here and there, a bit of movie trivial, or personal remembrances of your visits to the cinemas, those long ago days. To get the ball rolling, here are two of my contributions, please :
      1) Nora Miao's bit part as the roadside drinks seller in Bruce Lee's "The Big Boss", where she was harassed by some hooligans, was really a late decision to cast her. She was actually on holiday in Thailand (all expenses paid by the movie studio) when the director decided to rope her in for her cameo in an unexpected turn, necessitating some minor changes to the script. As a young kid I always was puzzled why she did not play a bigger role in the film, maybe complementing the other Taiwanese female lead. I got this piece of enlightenment from Nora herself, in her subsequent media interviews on her recallings working with the late Bruce, decades later. She never married by the way. Reading between the lines after all these years, fans will likely gather that she was infatuated (secretly in love with the man) and the feelings ran deep enough that she left things to fate (Bruce of course was already married to Linda, American citizen, with son Brandon and daughter Shannon). Nora also said that Bruce treated her "more like a little sister". Sigh......the travails of being young, inexperienced and being star-struck.
      2) Remember the days of 50 cents admission ticket for the cheapest seats for movie re-runs? It was verily the case at Pacific cinema, Great World Amusement Park even in the early '70s. I was purchasing my ticket when I realised that this scruffy, bare-thread boy was actually pleading with the box-office staff for a refund of his 50-cent ticket. He pleaded and pleaded but to no avail. Coming from humble financial circumstances myself, I did feel for him. Still do, decades later. Your thoughts here?
I hope viewers of your videos will similarly and generously share some of their movie experiences and encounters. It will make for very interesting read, definitely!
      Many thanks.
