  • Dharavi may be India’s biggest slum, but this community of around one million residents make significant contributions to the nation’s economy. But many are concerned about their future, over plans by the Adani Group, which has been given a multi-billion-dollar contract to redevelop Dharavi. We also ask Dharavi residents about how they’ll be voting in this general election.

      LOL, Adani is the joker he's just greedy because he knows how much the land is worth. He only wants to stuff his pockets. The gov should rebuild Dharavi as low-rise townhouses, in sanitory conditions, and give them to the people currently living there. the overflow can be moved elsewhere. That's what the government's job is! We need MORE cities not milking one city built by the British over a century ago!

    Which city has the largest slum in Asia?
    Orangi Town, Karachi, Pakistan
    Asia's largest slum is believed to be home to around 2.4 million people, although no-one knows the exact figure. Fed up with living without proper sanitation, residents of Orangi Town gave up waiting for the government to install sewers and built them by hand themselves.Oct 19, 2016

    Dharavi is a residential area in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is considered India's largest slum and the world's third largest slum, after Pakistan's Orangi, Karachi and Mexico's Ciudad Neza, Mexico City.

    According to World Hunger Index, India has ranked 111th out of 180 countries. This is lower than its neighbors like Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.

    Much bigger question is why hasn’t Australian Government improved the living conditions there ?

      Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others.
      And this is a documentary on India, not Australia.
      Just because an Australian RUclips channel is documenting on Indian politics does not give you the right to attack them. No where I have seen citizens of other nations acting so defensive as that of India whenever a video pops up.
      If you can’t face the reality of your own nation’s wellbeing, then maybe focus more on your nation and see how you can change things.

    • @freddymercury2259
      @freddymercury2259 16 дней назад

      No, the slum should be rebuilt as low rises and the people should be housed in the modern townhouses in the same place and the overflow elsewhere. Adani is just greedy. The government should be building new cities, not milking the existing cities the British built a century ago. That's what the Chinese would do.

    Colombo is now rank as cleanest capital in south asia before that it was filled with slums later those slums were destroyed and settled the people in condos. clearing slums is good for both city and the people who live in slums if there is a proper resettlement and rehabilitation plan.

Third highest after Afghanistan on the Migration Index even going to war zones Russia Israel. No wars in India but 80% of the people living below the poverty line. World statistics are Wrong on all counts as per the BJP and its FM.
