The girl survived with minor injuries after hitting the roof of the 1st floor that covered the entrance to the building. She had a pelvic fracture and a shoulder fracture, thats it. Police came to the conclusion that the roof was soft enough for her body to lower the chance of dying on impact and the fact that it was a little girl...
I have zero experience climbing, but from watching a good amount of free solo long distance climbers speak about their experiences, I’ve come to a pretty simple conclusion. There’s two types of these climbers: the near dead calm crazy ones. And the dead ones.

Thinking back to 9/11, imagine people having to jump to their deaths from a building even higher than this one. Just watching this makes me uneasy but imagining the people in the WTC having to jump from an even higher height is just extremely heartbreaking that people had to go through that. Never forget and RIP to all who lost their lives on that day!
There was actually a man who managed to climb down around 20 stories of the North Tower before he fell sometime during the collapse of the South Tower next to him. I know it sounds far fetched but there are plenty of photographs and first hand stories out there of people who watched him climb down the tower.
That's what I was thinking too. I saw a video from 9/11 of a man that was able to shimmy down what looked like 1.5-2 floors, and then he slipped and that was the end. The ppl videoing it from a building across the street were mortified. I wondered what the probability would be of hin making it all the way down and how far the heat would go through the metal
The thing is that these free solo climbers don't feel fear like most people do. It's unfortunately their undoing because they tend not to live to an old age. The guy who climbed the CN tower in the 80s explained it well. He retired and said that all his free solo climbing friends were dead.
@@pieter490 Pretty sure our ancestors developed a fear of heights to stop us from climbing anything like trees so high we could fall out and risk injury or death or get close to a cliff we could fall off

I'm not afraid of much, but very high heights and blocked in an enclosed space, I don't have a way out of, are my 2 biggest personal fears. I used to have to crawl through 20" 50' long pipes/tubes to inspect/take measurements from machining and that wasn't too bad, but if you closed off 1 end of the tube I'd have started getting uncomfortable, close off both ends I'd start panicking. Trapped under ice would probably be my biggest fear. The heights more make me nauseous, bit dizzying. I stay away from those edges of high buildings😊
Your shoulders must be TINY if you can fit through a 20” wide pipe. Mine I thought were tiny but apparently not 😂 you’d have to be a literal string bean.
Yeah I know this is fun and challenging, but for anyone thinking of doing this please don't. The danger is that you'll pull off a piece of the building or, god forbid, pop off the wall. Nobody walking below has a helmet or is aware that you're up there, so be aware that you're not just risking your life, you're putting others at risk without their knowledge. That's really not cool.
If you're confused why the title says "Fire department almost kills climber" It's because they were trying to get a panel off to stop him going up, if it hits any part of his body he'll probably lose his footing and die- climbers feel pretty safe when the only thing they have to worry about is their ability and the wall but any knocks and obstruction puts them at massive risk

Many people get into heated arguments in a matter of seconds because they have no patience, but cops have to deal with people that don’t comply on a common basis.
