Vlog 17: The Decline of SEL & What We Need To Do

In this episode, I dive into my thoughts on the current state of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in our education system. SEL has become a hot and polarizing topic, but it’s more important than ever to have meaningful conversations about it.
I reflect on recent discussions I’ve been part of and share my belief that SEL and academics are not an either/or choice-they are an and/both necessity. SEL and academics must co-exist to prepare students for success in all areas of life.
I also talk about the need for education and learning around SEL-how we can move the conversation forward and implement SEL effectively in our schools. At its core, regardless of political views, values, or beliefs, I think we can all agree: we want students and adults who are confident, empathetic, self-aware, and equipped to make a positive impact on the world.
