  • Inside The $40 Million Gulfstream G450 Private Jet
    0:00 - Intro
This is the Gulfstream G450, one of the best-selling business jets of all time even as one of the smallest business jets in the Gulfstream fleet. Today we’re going inside the Gulfstream G450 to talk about everything you need to know about this magnificent aircraft.
    0:45 - Cabin
The interior can be customized for everyone's tastes. Gulfstream offers a variety of standard floor plans, with most seating 12 to 16. The standard floor plans feature forward or rear galleys, a forward crew lavatory, and a main executive lavatory in the rear of the aircraft.
The cabin is 6 feet 2 inches or 1.88 meters in height. The G450 comes with a kitchen. The cabin features tables along with 12 portholes that let in as much light as possible. The G450 can seat up to 19 guests, and all of the chairs can be made into beds, while there are two longer sofa areas toward the rear of the plane.
Gulfstream has fitted the jet with Wi-Fi, LED lighting, better environmental systems, heated windows, and updated seat-mounted controls. The standard in-flight entertainment package includes Airshow 4000 with moving map, dual DVD and CD players, 17-inch bulkhead monitors, a 15-inch credenza-mounted monitor, headphone jacks at each seat, up to four telephone locations, and electronic window shades. The single seats can be fitted with optional, individual 7-inch monitors. Satellite television and Gulfstream's Broadband Multi-Link System are two big-ticket options popular with G450 buyers. The latter option provides Internet connection speeds up to 3.5 megabits per second.
The jet can also sleep five when the seats are folded into beds. Each seat comes with its own storage space and TV, which can be controlled from the armrest. A stateroom, complete with one or two berthing divans, can be created in the rear of the aircraft forward of the main lavatory. And finally, the 169-cubic-foot or 4.8 cubic-meter baggage compartment is accessible in flight through the rear of the lavatory.
    3:23 - Cockpit
The cockpit is 30% larger than the previous G IV, and provides plenty of room for a third crew seat on those longer missions. Gulfstream’s PlaneView cockpit, derived from Honeywell’s Primus Epic cockpit display systems, delivers a comprehensive solution to make software upgrades quick and easy.
The cockpit is dominated by four large Honeywell Primus Epic avionics LCD displays that the pilots can easily manipulate with a unique cursor control device that grows out of the outboard armrests. Gulfstream also has a proprietary electronic flight bag called PlaneBook that uses a tablet laptop to create a true paperless cockpit.
The EVS, developed by Gulfstream and Kollsman, is the first vision system of its type to be certified by the FAA. The vision system gives the pilot a heightened level of situational awareness and allows greater safety. Using a forward-looking infrared camera mounted under the nose and a military-style head-up display, the EVS turns night into day and allows pilots to see runway lights and the surrounding obstructions and terrain even in the worst weather.
    5:18 - Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, the Rolls-Royce Tays have been fitted with digital controls and tweaked to produce slightly more power and fuel efficiency, which is why they can push the G450 to speeds up to 476 knots. The G450 is powered by two Rolls-Royce TAY MK 611-8C engines, each producing 13,850 lbs of thrust. This combination is able to push the aircraft up to a maximum cruising altitude of 45,000 feet or 13,716 meters, with an average hourly fuel burn of 450 gallons or 1,700 liters. The G450 has a maximum range of 4,350 nautical miles, which is 5,000 miles or 8,056 kilometers on a single tank of fuel.
The plane can take off in 5,600 feet or 1,700 meters, has a maximum rate of climb per minute of 3,760 feet or 1,150 meters, and a minimum landing distance of 3,190 feet or 972 meters, all while maintaining a maximum net payload of 5,800 lbs or 2,630 kg and a full-fuel payload of 2,500 lbs or 1,134 kg.
7:32 - Purchase and Charter Price
The base purchase price for a new G450 is $40 million before options, and the charter price ranges between $10,000 and $15,000 per hour. Naturally, prices will vary depending on availability, fuel prices, ground fees, and more.
    7:50 - Operating Cost
While the annual fixed cost is roughly $800,000 to $1.2 million, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $6,000 to $10,000.

Indeed the G500 ist much more modern and better than the G450 and you get a 9800 km range with the G500. The 8 million plus for the G500 are worth the money.
