    Thank you for exceptional and excellent videos. What material are those burnishers made of? Is it possible to make them? If not where one can find them?

      I have many things. I bought from used watch tool shop and from Bergeon.
      It has two type. Push down type and push up type.
      In this time you should buy push down type.

    I am learning to use Jacot tool for burnishing the pivots of my balance staff too 😊 I recommend smoothing out your burnisher with diamond stone to get a better result.

      I think it can do 1mm or less.

    What is the name of the base holding the jacot tool? I don't have a vise but need something to hold the jacot tool stable.

      Thanks for watching.
      I usually use vise for a drilling machine about 15cm x 15 cm.
      It’s not expensive.
      Watchmaker’s vise is usually set side of bench, I scared dropped a parts.
      In this vise, work on inside of bench.

      @@tanakayawatch thank you will look in to this! I don't have a lot of room to put a vise so this would be the perfect solution. Is it stable? It looked decent in the video.

      It’s no problem for Jacot tool. If it moved you should put some RODICO ☺️

    これはほぞの研磨でしょうか? 昔の旋盤?

    • @tanakayawatch
      @tanakayawatch  3 года назад

      ホゾの研磨用の道具です。作った天真や歯車のホゾを磨くと同時に加工硬化させてよりスムーズに動く様にします。
      これは違いますが、同じ構造で旋盤として使う事の出来る物もあります。チャックでワークを噛むより中心が出ますので、より中心に拘る人には良いかも知れません。
      私は大抵旋盤で済ませてしまいます。

    • @MrSpa7777
      @MrSpa7777 3 года назад

      @@tanakayawatch 加工硬化ができるんですね。 でも、田中さんが言っておられるように旋盤でも可能ですよね。
      当時の人の工夫というか 技術が感じられます。
      凄い世界ですね。

    • @tanakayawatch
      @tanakayawatch  3 года назад

      昔の人は色々考えてますね。
      旋盤で切れないバイトで切れないなと思っている時は、ワークの表面を滑らせてしまっていて、勝手に加工硬化させて、さらに切れなくする悪循環になります。

      Of course,it can do nearly same with lathe. But it can push harder that steel will more hardness and can set a center easily.
      Other way, Jacot tool can do same to lathe.
