@@nivision I forgot about it as soon as the guy talked about continental drift that's not only visible to the naked eye but rapid enough to move continents around the world in days. Then I forgot about that after the black hole that didn't decay nearly instantly as it formed at CERN. Then he started talking about the black hole pulling the station even though it should have the same mass as earth and have the same center of mass, and I just gave up on the concept of science.
For those that don't know: a black hole with the mass that can be produced at CERN would instantly decay, and be unable to "pull in" even one atom. A black hole only has the mass that's put into it it so if the earth was instantly replaced with an equal mass black hole it would just keep orbiting the sun and the maintain the gravitational pull on the moon (and ISS) harmlessly until the sun expanded enough to engulf the earth-black hole at which point it would start absorbing the sun. As the earth "fell in" to the black hole the black hole would "fall in" to the center of the earth and due to it's low starting mass would essentially be centered where the earth was.
The sad thing is, I was willing to give the story slack until the continental drift thing. Why do authors have to keep one-upping themselves instead of letting one disaster play out?

Fun story, but it's pretty obvious the author knows nothing about... well, pretty much anything in his story. Sergei would have kept (roughly) the same velocity as the station, and it would take MANY revolutions before he disappeared from sight and many more before he would have been visible again. Also, there's no point in trying to look out a porthole to dodge debris. That debris would be traveling at something similar to the same speed as the station and would be far too fast to see, much less dodge. A black hole on the microscopic scale puts off too much energy to allow anything in and will simply explode with the equivalent energy to its mass (not much at the scale we can currently make them). Oh yeah, nasa (and most military installations) has backup power, and em hardened equipment just in case there is a large solar flare or loss of power. Overall, 1/10 for realism, but 7/10 for entertainment.

I had planned to see this one. But it seems the greatest opportunities arise at the most inopportune moments and I find myself confined to hospital for the next few days. They closed all the rest stops, but there are several state parks just off the line that were hosting viewing parties. I would have opted for a park, but my brother.-in-law insisted on the line, even if was just a parking lot. So glad he did - we got there & people were at the bottom of the exit directing us. Paid $5 to park at an auto garage with restrooms. We enjoyed our picnic under some shade trees. I never dreamed of finding a pleasant place in St. Clair, MO, to watch and on the line! Sorry - I’m still kind of surprised how well it worked out. It was worth the 4 hour drive. But, this year I will get to see some on my 30-min lunch! I just hope my glasses still work. Story was well written and narrated very well. Could have used a good bit more research on the scientific side, though. The effort to avoid the CME, solar flares, commander inquiry of the ring of fire, not understanding how servers work, and in general the lack of understanding of things just kind of kept pulling me away and turned a believable story about a pole flip or newly formed black hole....unbelievable? Again, not slamming the author, very well written, but I think a focus on writing about things understood while researching other things would benefit them greatly. Hope he or she prospers, the prose is certainly there. Definitely refreshing to have a clean story. May God bless us all as we move into the future.

...ok by the end of the story my suspension of disbelief was shattered. Solar flare, volcanos, yellowstone...continents start drifting for some reason, the world floods then suddenly a blackhole by the end? I was having fun with his story but by the end I was just 'well if you're going to make it that ridiculous why not just have everyone spontaneously combust out for nowhere?'

Cool story. Few problems.... 1. Military has contingencies for this, they have huge stores of backup tech that runs on tubes and such. They also have extremely hardened tech. 2. Half the earth would have been shielded by itself lol. 3. Underground bunkers and doomsday storage have backup servers ready to bring back up at a moments notice. So, while a good story, this shouldn't scare anyone ;)

I just left a nutrition club my mom is part of, she had me tag along cause she likes bragging to the other ladies about her handsome son 🙄. Anyways the eclipse came up in discussion and the lady who runs the club told everyone she won’t be opening the door for NO ONE tomorrow cause of a certain superstition that she believes that says something about the devil possessing people on solar eclipses and making people commit atrocities then a lot of the other women chimed in with their own superstitions and stories and even my mom told of a time back in the village we come from when 2 people died cause the devil was up to no good and coincidentally it was during a solar eclipse she said “the devil had came from the valley stumbling onto a ranch where he found a black horse tied up and set it free seeing how it was moving erratically, people say it was the eclipse messing with the animals, some believe it was cause the devil was walking among them, and others say the horse was possessed by the devil himself, anyways the horse rode off and came across a kid playing in a open field not far from another ranch. From inside a father heard the kid’s screams so he rushed to the door rifle in hand and saw a tall black stallion breaking through their makeshift fence kicking and flailing, the man took aim and fired killing the horse and in that moment the sky started turning from blue in into a orange. Moments later word got to the man who’s horse was set free and shot down so he saddled another horse, got his revolver, and rode down till he appeared at the father and sons door angrily pounding at the door and when the son opened up the sky was blood red, the horse owner didn’t hesitate for a second and shot the kid in the head, by the time the father got up from his chair he was also shot up. And like the moon leaving the sun the horse owner left without leaving a trace.” This was all told in Spanish so if my grammar seems out of place blame the American education system lol but yeah I’m conclusion no one is to leave their house nor let people in during the eclipse cause it could be the devil in disguise even if it family, friend, or neighbor
