We really enjoy Princess and I call it like I see it with all the cruise lines. Love my tux but am amazed how people on cruises have got away from wearing them anymore....kind of a sad change. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great job with the ship tour. You’re very personable and you kept a good pace as you explained things. Thanks. Looking forward to our Alaska trip on the Grand.
Thanks for the tour of this vessel, Pat. I'm lucky that I will start working on there for the first time, in a few days! Watching your videos gave me a bit of a views of what the ship looks like, and where I will be starting my days as crew. Highly appreciate for your contents, I'm very excited!
@@naufaldhyriandhika5732 WOW….that is fantastic and I wish you the best of luck. The crew always says Princess is great to work for! Thanks for watching!
This was our second Alaska cruise with the puppies and I have got to say, it is really awesome for the passengers. I could not even get down close to film as so many people were crammed in there going nuts over the pups. It is something to see and Princess sure has a lock on Alaska and what the people want. Thanks for watching!
I is an older ship and I was on it 20 years ago. It has been refurbished and really taken care of and we loved it. It also gets great reviews so give it a shot. Thanks for watching!
I hope you have a wonderful cruise on it. My second time on this ship and it is so well maintained with great service....you will love it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this great video. We are booked for 2024 this time with our children. I saw some negative reviews about this ship but from your experienced viewpoint it sounds like this is still a great experience.
I will tell you that going on a ship this old, I expected problems like wear and tear, etc. I was looking for issues and they did not appear. They have done a great job maintaining the ship! You will find some things in the room that are dated but who cares. Our crew was great, the Chef was amazing and we had an overall fantastic experience. Believe me, if we had not, I would have pointed it out. What is funny is people will still complain about the most minor things when in fact they are not that big of a deal. More fun to look at the positive I think. I have learned that when you see the same negative comments on a ship over and over, that is when you want to pay attention. Years ago, we were booked on a Trans Atlantic on a Royal Caribbean ship. I read the comments on Cruise Critic. Over and over were recent comments about how terrible the food was. I have been on Royal so many times with great food, I ignored the comments thinking the people were idiots. We had 10 people in our group. We had 14 days of of the worst food ever!!! Steaks like shoe leather, soup that tasted like water, horrible wilted salads, etc. Lesson learned for me! ha ha... Thanks for watching!
I'll be on this cruise for the transpacific nexr month from Sydney to San Francisco, i am so excited cause it is my first time in a Peincess cruise, i hope I will enjoy it a lot. Great review.
I have sailed out of Sydney on Princess and enjoyed it so much. I am sure you have a great time on that itinerary and on that ship. Enjoy and thanks so much for watching!!
Fantastic video, my wife and I just had our first cruise on the Grand Princess and we loved every minute of it! We loved the Princess Theatre, The Crown Grill was incredible and the Crooners Bar was awesome. We cannot wait to cruise again! Again thanks for this video, great job!
We booked the same cabin both before and after the refurbishment. Before the refurb., the cabin steward used 4x4 wooden block to support a broken frame on the convertible sofa bed which literally kept the bed from collapsing. After the refurb., same sofa bed, same broken frame, same wooden block!
Thanks for your fun and informative video. Have sailed on Grand Princess from Melbourne Australia to New Zealand early 2023 and it was a delightful experience. We are cruising again on the Grand early next year from Melbourne to the South Pacific - New Caledonia and Fiji. I wish you many years of happy, healthy cruise experiences. As you rock the tuxedo, I’ll look to see you in the next James Bond film drinking your Martini 🍸 shaken, not stirred. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I have been to Alaska six or seven times (at least) and all have been in July, August or very early September. You never know with the weather but those are the best months. No, I would not pay for the Sanctuary if you are looking for the views. The ship moves all the time and the views are changing....save your money on that.
Great vid, Pat! That said, this ship is much too large for me at this point (60 years old) of my life. I prefer ships with capacity no greater than 750 or so, such as Viking, Regent, etc. Again. Great vid!
Yes, it does have an indoor pool with a retractable roof and yes, the pool was heated. However, it was not pool weather for most of the trip! ha ha. Hope that helps.
Nice video. Watched as it's a recent review and we board Grand Princess next week for 63 days. Just a couple of comments. Club One5 is not only for Suite and Elite guests. There is a nightly function held there that IS only for Platinum, Elite, and Suite guests but most of the time the venue is available to anybody. Also, the Reserve Class (formerly Club Class) dining doesn't have "a lot" of items that aren't on the main menu. There will usually only be one specialty item each night that is only offered in that area. Alfredo's is a victim of the latest Princess changes and is now a pay-to-eat venue. Sad as it has always been free in the past. Also, Grand princess has the "abbreviated" vesion of Alfredo's so doesn't have the full Italian menu like some of the larger, newer ships have. (This happened in this last month so it's great you were still able to get Pizza at Alfredo's.) Thanks for posting this and happy you had a good cruise. We always enjoy sailing with Princess.
Interesting about Club One5....yes, it is open to anyone during the day but we were told it was only for Suite and Elite in fact they asked a couple to leave when we were there. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video. Just wanted to give a pointer, try to avoid bright shirts and hats. Then both have the effect of making your face really dark on camera. Loved the video though, so informative and well paced. Thank you!! I hope you liked Vancouver too, we love people coming to see the city
Well done dressing appropriately for formal night! 👍 I'm in my 40s, but, I refuse to slide into the "uh cun do whutevuh I want" attitude that's so common among North Americans. People who go on a cruise that includes formal evenings ought to have some respect for the others who chose that cruise, even if only in part, because it includes formal evenings; they could've picked cruises that explicity _don't_ have formal nights. A lot of people made efforts to create elegant spaces with quality materials and craftsmanship, put together fine dining menus and plate meals aesthetically, train waiters to give professional service, hire experienced maître d's and sommeliers, and guests made efforts to dress accordingly for such an environment to maintain the whole atmosphere for themselves and the other guests--eating in restaurants and attending parties is a form of theatre, after all. It's therefore the height of selfishness to walk in wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt, breaking the ambiance, because it's what you wanted to wear while you personally enjoy the fruits of everyone else's labours. I'm going to keep wearing tuxedo on formal evenings, even if I am in the minority. It gets notcied and I hope, someday, the trend will change again, back to dressing appropriately, instead of lazily.
WOW....you took the words out of my mouth....my wife and I had this discussion. When I started cruising 40+ years ago, if you did not have a tux on during formal nights you were considered odd...now it is the opposite. There was only a handful wearing them on this cruise but I must say, I got one complement after another from people Hopefully the trend will change back but I don't see it anytime soon. But I am gonna keep wearing mine! Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching!!
while some have a poor attitude others simply are constrained to packing a bag that has everything you need & the airlines will not give you an earful about weight. A tux or an evening gown can't be easily packed especially when you are heading to a colder climate & wearing layers. Skipping the "formal" wear & dressing for the climate will win with a lot of people. We plan of dressy career casual for our Alaskan cruise. My husband will wear dress pants with a shirt, tie & sweater. I will wear a dress or pantsuit. My beaded gown will stay in my closet.
Not sure what is "Old Fashion" about the ship.....yes it is over 20 years old but so well maintained with great service and food. Anyway, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tour. You’re a good ambassador for Princess. And you rock that tux.

Wow....you have got to be kidding me. I wonder how that got overlooked? Our room was just fine and I was surprised with the age of the ship.

Hey thanks so much and glad you enjoyed the video. We loved the ship and would sail on it again. I also have my tux ready for my next sailing in May!!
What month did you cruise alaska? Would you recommend doing The Sanctuary for Glacier Bay?
I have been to Alaska six or seven times (at least) and all have been in July, August or very early September. You never know with the weather but those are the best months. No, I would not pay for the Sanctuary if you are looking for the views. The ship moves all the time and the views are changing....save your money on that.
What is the height of the decks? I am traveling with a tall person. 😮
I am assuming you mean the height of the ceilings in the hallways? I am 6' 4" tall and would estimate they are 8 feet tall. Hope that helps!
