@@jankomeisel9568 That was the general implication of the statement. The most readily available information on RUclips (or the internet in general) is based on pandemic-era scalping practices, not making purchases with upside.
Wise words. Lessons I'm sure the majority of us wish we would have known when we started. I bought everything when I first started and slowly figured out that booster boxes, certain exclusive products, and products with unique promos are the way to go.
@@sorubro2193 Well there needs to be a level of compromise between flooding the market and not producing enough stock to the point that scalpers cause new products to cost a fortune. Ultimately if people are not buying stock and therefore no one is ordering it from the manufactures that is going to cause less of it to be made, it doesn't mean we're going to go back to the madness of covid where new sets were immediately being sold out and jacked up 200% by scalpers.
Exactly, this will happen which will result in lower printruns and hopefully higher print quality. Only thing that is scary about this is tha the whole covid era could become the most hated period in the long therm collectors community. Cause if you compare it to let's say Ex Series and Goldstar era, the thing that makes those sets very rare, desireable and expensive is that during that era pokemon lost their popularity alot, resulting in low printruns and focus on bringing something interesting to the players/collectors - different holo patterns in each single set, good QC etc. The Swsh era is quite the opposite. Great advice. I definitely get too many ancillary things bc they’re available. Or did. Now I focus on those products really only if they have evolving skies clearly in them or like at my local Walgreens that’s putting out 2019 Dragonite tins constantly with evolutions packs confirmed inside.
i would go a step further and question how hard it may be in the future to get rid of multiple random collection boxes that a buyer/collector may only want one copy of for display purposes. booster boxes just seem like the better play honestly as they are easier to store and sell.
It’s hard to say really agree with all those things you said always sealed blisters never raw packs collection boxes take longer to age but I go for lost origin ones and evolving skies ones the two best sets in the era With crown zenith I’ve noticed with Black Friday in the UK most is Scarlett and violet era people get caught up in the chaos I invested in another evolving skies booster box high entrance point but got me other two £100s cheaper by £800 - £1000 next year no brainer unless something mental happens

Love the content and appreciate the education you provide for the community. Just picked up The Japanese Classic Collection and plan to keep sealed. I really enjoy diversifying in collecting/investing and wonder if you plan on investing in more Japanese products in the future.
I remember Vivid Voltage ETBS where at 120ish until Pokemon decided to reprint it and destroy the value. Very good points in the video. I think it went slightly downhill to say after the launch of Evolving Skies with reprints and overprinting. That seems to be the last highly investable set I can think of imo.
I usually just get the ETB at the start of a new expansion and never get the same one I like the booklet of all the cards in the expansion and the sleeves
Great points, next year I plan to spend smarter on Pokemon TCG products. What gets me is the etb drops first before any product and I get FOMO lol thanks for the vid! Really smart.
I always use my own initiative. Etbs and build n battle boxes ill still buy if cheap enough off msrp. For me its pack per £/$ ratio. Had some mental deals in the past in bulk..sealed fusion strike and astral radiance etbs at £25 each crazyyyyyy
First video I’ve watched. As a new sealed collector I agree with everything you’ve said. I’ve been collecting every Pokemon Center ETB and a full sleeved booster pack art set for each set and that’s it. (With the addition of an evolving skies booster box).
I totally feel like you took some inspiration in my comment about investing to modern in your previous vid :) awesome! Btw tip about not buying singles at launch is nobrainer. At least i thought that every serious collector has this as an absolute must. But still it doesn't anyhow mean to make profit, i bought multiple cards like Shining Fates Vmax Zard and Champions path V Zard at a price which felt like equilibrium and still lost about 30-40% on both of those. So not buying after launch doesn't always mean making profit, but definitely always means minimizing initial losses a lot.
I actually think the PC ETBs have alot of potential even though the normal ones are mass printed. They actually have a much lower print run like if you check Pokémon Center all of them since Crown Zenith haven’t been reprinted. Like you can still find Fusion Strike and Lost Origin PC ETBs on Pokémon Center. But every single S&V set PC ETB is sold out and many like Paldea Evolved have been sold out for months. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are at least as limited as normal Sun & Moon ETBs like Lost Thunder. I think this might be because they’re harder to reprint due to the PC stamped promos requiring an entire reprint of promos to make more PC ETBs. Whereas Sw/Sh PC ETBs simply had two extra packs so were easy to reprint. Just my two cents!
There’s more to it than just buying and not buying specific products. Entry point also plays a big role for me. If I can get a ETB for 25$, I’m sitting nicely. Msrp will be msrp. I’m still up 15-20%. People will need to do their research as it is not as black and white as it seems.
What’s up Micheal! That’s you name right? Lol awesome job man. You always make some good point. Wish I started watching your channel sooner maybe could’ve saved myself some storage space & $$ but all is well and I can’t complain
Thank you for your awesome videos! Super helpful as I get back into the hobby and very informative. Does this mean though that two ETBs I bought on Amazon just screwed me over? I didn’t realize they could repackage them after taking out the good ones! Should I return them when they arrive? The price was comparable to what I saw on EBay….. (I hope this was the video you gave this advice on). Thanks again to anyone who has advice.
Awesome job mad new to the channel. I'm a New York collector so I'm not really sure. Came from comic books so it's a different brown. Thank you for giving the heads up in your input on this. It really does help. I sell cars as well Nissan's The hobby is definitely fun and looking forward to more videos. Thank you again.
Holy heck!! This video completely blew up. What have you learned about starting a YT channel? I was thinking about starting a Pokémon themed art channel but I have no clue how to get views
Great video. I just started collecting again with 151 because I noticed that I can't find the packs anywhere. I was buying Christmas toys for my kids and found an opened stolen premium collectors box in the toy isle. I realized this set was probably going to shoot up in value. Then I noticed that the boosters online are way more expensive than usual because they are running out of them. So I bought a bunch of etb's because they haven't moved up in price yet. Hopefully I get what I'm looking for but I already have zapdos, alakazam and mew.
Just getting back into it. im thinking celibrations, 151 and maybe pokemon go are my first objective to get a few. The special expantions will gain and hold longer value. Im scared about the celebration having such a small set number tho.
Special set PC etbs are the only etbs i collect now. Even special set normal etbs get printed heavily years after release. Shining fates release 2.5 years ago and those etbs are still below MSRP.
Hey Marko - love the channel. I remember several years ago when I saw Team Up was about to be released and thinking that would be an awesome set to invest in. Didn't trust my gut unfortunately. Have picked up some great modern sealed things though being careful in selection - Mewtwo/Mew Hidden Fates Sealed Pin Case, Cosmic Eclipse BBs, Evolutions ETBs and BBs, Generations collection boxes, etc. Lots of WOTC things of course. If ever looking to deal or trade/sell, let me know. Sam
It’s actually not a bad decision to pick up these ETB’s when you can find them on sale for $25-$30. If sitting on them for quite some time will net you a pretty decent ROI.
A huge issue with the pokemon community now is everyone thinks they are an "investor" and they are trying to look at everything from an investor standpoint.. Since I started collecting pokemon literally all I've done is take sets that I LIKED and bought some to rip and some to sit back, or just some of that set to sit back.. You have to like pokemon and enjoy pokemon in order to flip and invest in it properly.. You can't know nothing about pokemon and know what will do good long/short term... Know your investments, learn to enjoy pokemon, only then can you make solid investments in pokemon.
I dropped collecting Cards for a year and I come back to seeing the price of these Pokemon packs and there a bit more expensive than there usual price from when I last bought them, like damn, they weren't this expensive last time 💀. Can someone explain to me why the sides are Silver instead of yellow?
8:48 the included promos in SVL build & battle, and the trainer toolkits, all came universally damaged in multiple spots, on every single promo card. Forces us to resell fresh out the box cards as LP, and if we miss it, refund the buyer.
The cardboard sleeved packs is laughable to me every time I hear it. It is absurdly easy to open those and keep the OG glue intact, replace the pack and it’ll still seal because of the industrial glue.
Booster boxes are set hits usually garbage hits at that. Tins are mixed and best investments for hits. As a collector ( who buys product from you) I’ll stick to tins and etb’s
the crown zenith. I asked the girl to pick me a box. She went to this bad boy and said she had the craziest hits. I guess that was a phenomenal batch bc she was right. The hits just kept hitting and makes me want to get a 4 piece of them now
i just buy singles now...justget the cards i want, been collecting everything from pokemon...figures plushies..cards ornaments...everything..since 1998..im also poor so i dont waste my money buying pack after pack just to get the five cards i really really want...just go for the singles now..been doing this since the firstscarlet nd violet set and its great..i have all the sets pretty much complete ata fraction of the cost!
I do have a question about Build & Battle stadiums. Can they be a good investment, if the entry price is low? In my country, booster boxes can rarely be found below 130€ (which comes aroun 3,60 per pack). Shops, however, are often cleaning B&B Stadiums for 32€ (cca 2,6€ per pack) I got a few Silver Tempest and LOR for that price, but I am curious, if it would still be more worthy to just take the price difference per pack and instead of 4 B&BS get one booster box.
You need to get back to the Dragonball, the art is insane, and there is big investment in the IP starting next year with a new TCG, Digital Game and new series. Have a look at the GDR, SCR, SPR cards of the new set Perfect Combination for instance.
I have opened up 1 etb from each english Scarlet and Violet set and in each box i have gotten at least a full art. In most boxes i got SAR OR SIR idk what they are called, and I bought a obsidian flames etb for $36 and got the $25 full art charizard and the $10 regular charizard ex and a houndoom ex
I like to collect, and use, I just can't sit on them it feels like I don't appreciate the card heh. maybe I'll buy the occasional extra pack to store away not sure..
I’m an avid sealed booster box collector and upc guy. How do you feel about unified minds, burning shadows and celestial storm booster boxes in the future? I own those amongst the newer ones
I've bought two crown zenith etbs and actually made money of the pulls from both. but then I bought a 151 upc and only got two pulls worth $20 each lol
I bought a obsidian flames booster box yesterday. Do you think this box will raise in price like these other boxes like platinum, Diamond & pearl, n’ wotc series stuff? Like $5,000 in the next 7-8 years? Beside especially this one obsidian flames with charizard on the cover
This is so much better than 99.9% of Pokémon investment videos. Solid advice for sure!

Oh mate, it can definitely still happen, drop from what seems to be a stabilised bottom. But I think those 2 will do OK long term!
PokeOz the type of guy to stare at his arch nemesis from across the street, then disappear when the bus drives past
Hahahaha 😅😅
Sound advice, as always!
Glad you think so!
Agree mate, that's where to go with ETBs, the pokemon center exclusive versions.
Love the Toyota plug!! I’m the general manager of a Toyota dealership in the US
No way!
There’s more to it than just buying and not buying specific products. Entry point also plays a big role for me. If I can get a ETB for 25$, I’m sitting nicely. Msrp will be msrp. I’m still up 15-20%. People will need to do their research as it is not as black and white as it seems.
Exactly right mate!
So valuable! Even as a small creator, knowing this stuff is great!
Thanks for watching man!
What’s up Micheal! That’s you name right? Lol awesome job man. You always make some good point. Wish I started watching your channel sooner maybe could’ve saved myself some storage space & $$ but all is well and I can’t complain
Thanks heaps for tuning in man!
Thanks for tuning in bro!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Very insightful.
My pleasure!
Yooo! Those DBZ boxes. The DBZ CCG was the best.
Great ccg!!
Just found your channel homie, this is excellent content.
Welcome aboard!
ETB’s look so good as a displayable collection piece. Love the cosmic eclipse etb
They are!
I’m addicted to pokemon and spending way too much money lol thanks for the tips!
Happy to help!
Nice dbz score boxes! Frieza, 2 cell saga, and cell games... Sheesh 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The best
Awesome job mad new to the channel. I'm a New York collector so I'm not really sure. Came from comic books so it's a different brown. Thank you for giving the heads up in your input on this. It really does help. I sell cars as well Nissan's The hobby is definitely fun and looking forward to more videos. Thank you again.
Oh nice mate, Nissan isn't a huge brand here in Aus. Toyota is #1 😎
Holy heck!! This video completely blew up. What have you learned about starting a YT channel? I was thinking about starting a Pokémon themed art channel but I have no clue how to get views
Just aim to create engaging content. That's my sole aim. Whatever comes of it, will come 👌
Most sealed investors buy the pc etbs and booster boxes. Display nicely and hold best long term value.
Too true!
Amazing advice thanks for the video!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
It's amazing how many people are back into the hobby from 151. Glad you're back in it!
Great video, keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do!
I needed this video. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for watching!
Good video! Thanks for the advice on everything
No problem!
Just getting back into it. im thinking celibrations, 151 and maybe pokemon go are my first objective to get a few. The special expantions will gain and hold longer value. Im scared about the celebration having such a small set number tho.
Yeah there's been a few small holiday sets that have performed well though. Generations, dragon majesty, shining legends etc
I needed this, I am victim to buying 2 etbs from poke center upon every set. I stopped a paradox rift. Well stopped at Paldean fates
Glad you enjoyed it man!
Great insights. Thank you.
Thanks for tuning in!
Special set PC etbs are the only etbs i collect now. Even special set normal etbs get printed heavily years after release. Shining fates release 2.5 years ago and those etbs are still below MSRP.
Good work!
Sam
Thanks Sam! Hope you stay tuned!
Great video bud!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Vid and Info
Thanks for watching!
Good info especially for newer investors!
Thanks man!
It’s actually not a bad decision to pick up these ETB’s when you can find them on sale for $25-$30. If sitting on them for quite some time will net you a pretty decent ROI.
Where do you get your etbs usually I find em $40-$50
A huge issue with the pokemon community now is everyone thinks they are an "investor" and they are trying to look at everything from an investor standpoint.. Since I started collecting pokemon literally all I've done is take sets that I LIKED and bought some to rip and some to sit back, or just some of that set to sit back.. You have to like pokemon and enjoy pokemon in order to flip and invest in it properly.. You can't know nothing about pokemon and know what will do good long/short term... Know your investments, learn to enjoy pokemon, only then can you make solid investments in pokemon.
You definitely can't forget why you're in the hobby 👌
Great video!!! I have a question tho. If I have a budget of $850 and I’m trying to get ones that will increase in value, which ones should I get?
I've got heaps of videos on this mate!
I dropped collecting Cards for a year and I come back to seeing the price of these Pokemon packs and there a bit more expensive than there usual price from when I last bought them, like damn, they weren't this expensive last time 💀. Can someone explain to me why the sides are Silver instead of yellow?
From Scarlet and Violet era onwards, they've changed to silver borders. To fall in line with japanese.
8:48 the included promos in SVL build & battle, and the trainer toolkits, all came universally damaged in multiple spots, on every single promo card. Forces us to resell fresh out the box cards as LP, and if we miss it, refund the buyer.
Hurts bro!
Etb give you good hits if you open it ...I only keep odd ball stuff sealed
Some people do say that!
The cardboard sleeved packs is laughable to me every time I hear it. It is absurdly easy to open those and keep the OG glue intact, replace the pack and it’ll still seal because of the industrial glue.
Thank you!
Thanks for watching mate!
Booster boxes are set hits usually garbage hits at that. Tins are mixed and best investments for hits. As a collector ( who buys product from you) I’ll stick to tins and etb’s
Booster Boxes are normally seeded to some degree though, don't forget
the crown zenith. I asked the girl to pick me a box. She went to this bad boy and said she had the craziest hits. I guess that was a phenomenal batch bc she was right. The hits just kept hitting and makes me want to get a 4 piece of them now
That's sick!
i just buy singles now...justget the cards i want, been collecting everything from pokemon...figures plushies..cards ornaments...everything..since 1998..im also poor so i dont waste my money buying pack after pack just to get the five cards i really really want...just go for the singles now..been doing this since the firstscarlet nd violet set and its great..i have all the sets pretty much complete ata fraction of the cost!
Nice mate!
Way better pick up if you're cracking for packs. In terms of an investment, who knows, build and battle stadiums could be the new ETBs!
Great video! Whats your thought on the S&V 151 UPC, worth investing?
I think I'm 10 years time it'll be just fine. I'm 3 years though... I'm not so confident 👌
You need to get back to the Dragonball, the art is insane, and there is big investment in the IP starting next year with a new TCG, Digital Game and new series. Have a look at the GDR, SCR, SPR cards of the new set Perfect Combination for instance.
I can't wait bro!
great content.
Thanks heaps!
I think the Vivid Voltage Build and Battles are a good investment. With the Charizard as a Promo.
Some great promos!
Great advice
Thanks mate!
@@pokeoz91 ehhhh teeaaa beeeeehhhzz ❤️ shout out from USA Trumps country !!
Here in Norway buying etb's is cheaper than buying normal packs
Really? Wow!
Sounds like you've had some good pull rates so far man!
I like to collect, and use, I just can't sit on them it feels like I don't appreciate the card heh. maybe I'll buy the occasional extra pack to store away not sure..
Nice man!
I’m an avid sealed booster box collector and upc guy. How do you feel about unified minds, burning shadows and celestial storm booster boxes in the future? I own those amongst the newer ones
Those 3 will all do just fine. I imagine Unified Minds will far outperform the other 2 though 👌
I've bought two crown zenith etbs and actually made money of the pulls from both. but then I bought a 151 upc and only got two pulls worth $20 each lol
It's definitely a gamble mate!
ok so now gonna try to find the top 5 to look for
I've done a few videos like that! 👌
When people are fearful, be greedy!
That's exactly right mate!
I bought a obsidian flames booster box yesterday. Do you think this box will raise in price like these other boxes like platinum, Diamond & pearl, n’ wotc series stuff? Like $5,000 in the next 7-8 years? Beside especially this one obsidian flames with charizard on the cover
I don't think so mate. I mean it'll go up. I see it at $500 a box in 7-8 years 👌
Pokemon Center ETB is the way my friend
Exactly!
I dont speak english that well, but should I buy Pokemon Sword & Shield Ultra-Premium Collection - Charizard? Yes or Not? Is it good?
It'll slowly move up, for sure!
sad thing is 151 etbs are 80$ a piece in canada at stores its only worth buying from resellers cause they cant move the stuff and sell it for cheaper
Wow! That's dear!
Let's get a 👍 and subscribe for this content guys
Thanks legend!
I'm gonna be focusing my money on booster boxes from now on
Good call!
I’m loading up on all these packs. 🎉
I have just bought heaps of packs for my nephews I went for the scarlet paldean fates 151 boxes and heaps of obsidian … have I messed up
Not at all mate, if it's for your nephews, it's all about enjoyment!
