This was one of the Best and most informative Videos I've seen on this watch to date,.please keep up the great work. This info helped me decide to buy the Suunto Ambit
Excellent review, finally a review that really explains how this watch works instead of just reading the spec sheet. Thanks for that. Will go out now and get myself an Ambit2.
Often we're uploading iRunFar's video content, such as our video interviews, from locations where uploads are quite slow. To make other uploads tolerable, we've had to keep video quality low and have kept the quality of other videos similarly reasonable for the sake of consistency. If we were ever to upload cinematic landscape videos, higher resolution would be a must, but for interviews and gear reviews, we figure this resolution will suffice. We hope you understand.
Great review. I have a Suunto Ambit and my major observation is that it is fiddly. I usually wear glasses but prefer not to when I run as they really irritate. Getting the Ambit (or just about any other Suunto product) to work requires an ability to read small writing and to answer questions. Try this while waiting at the start for a race. It is impossible without glasses. My previous sports watch was a Polar 625X. Press and hold the red button and off you went. Press it again and you can see your lap time. Press stop at the end and you can watch your heart rate come down and back to normal. None of this is possible with the Ambit. And finally, getting help from Suunto is a joke. I have tried clicking on their website and had no real response. I have tied dialing the help desk number and had the calls dropped or answered by someone who clearly doesn't know one end of a sports watch from the other.
Most of our more recent videos are available at 720p. Occasionally, ridiculously slow upload speeds in remote locations will mean that race-related interviews need to be uploaded at lower quality.
Great review. I'm using a Garmin 305 and love it, but it probably won't last forever. This could be my next pick for a trail running watch. Thoughts on features vs the new Garmin models?
Another call for a min of 720p. These days even cell phones can handle good upload speeds so there shouldn't be a need to go lower quality. Thanks for the review.
Great review you have here! just a few quick questions, how long does the battery take to recharge via usb? and when it goes flat, does the whole watch die and render the time display useless? or is it only the extra functions that stop working like GPS/ altimeter etc? cheers
How do you replace the battery when it dies, when the case is one piece construction. Eventually all rechargable batteries wear out... it better be user servicable.
This is the dumbest watch I've ever owned. Completely unreliable in the field and confusing as hell! Also Suunto costomer service is literally non existent for the US consumer. My retailer can't even get help from Suunto Oh and the battery dies every 3-4 months. My $40 Timex blows it away!
Are you serious about running? If so, then yes, but you will have to stick with it or else this will be a waste of money. I run cross country and track and have a similar GPS enabled watch and training is so much better.

The watch is arriving at my door tuesday... can't wait! Perfect video by the way!
great review! I just got my Ambit black HR from Amazon last week, and I'm loving it.
OK, thanks for the reply. Look forward to your next reviews.

Thanks a lot for a detailed review, but is it possible to go beyond 360p? 360p was old 4 years ago. :)
Great device! I've got one. Also good for orienteering, kayaking and even finding geocaches! :)

Great review, helps a lot, thank you very much!

Great review man!...By the way, how long does the watch battery remain alive if you do not turn on the GPS at all ever?

I agree, Great review, but I've got a question. It's possible to load a run or bike routine training as in forerunner 310?
Is it just for running? I do weight circuits and the punch bag but still like to monitor heart rate and calories burnt
Good detailed review, but your camera focus was way off for a lot of it.
When they say 50 hrs battery life, does that mean that after the 50 hrs it no longer keeps time?
How do you replace the battery when it dies, when the case is one piece construction. Eventually all rechargable batteries wear out... it better be user servicable.
Super watch!!!
Hi, How is the battery life when not using the GPS?
Is this recommended for a guy who is still a beginner...?
Shitty video quality but this guy knows his shit.
I like it.
This watch should've been a solar powered watch. especially for outdoors.

By the way does this have INTERVAL TRAINING?
