We were just discussing what we need to do to our Kato roundhouse at the Club layout... thanks for sharing your ideas as some of these may work for us.
Very nicely done Mike, you've really improved the look. I really like the stucco effect on the outside. I think I will have a go at doing that on my layout. Thank you for sharing, best wishes.
Thanks for sharing your very interesting video. It's looking really good. Look forward to seeing it finished on the layout and your job on the turntable. Best wishes Keith (UK)
Nice job! When I built my Walthers packing plant, I improved the look of the roof by painting it flat black, and then while the paint was still wet I thoroughly covered it in cinders. Once the paint had dried I shook the excess cinders off into a paper towel (and then back into the package). Then I used some diluted matte medium to secure the cinders completely. Looks like an asphalt/gravel roof now! Much better than plain plastic, even if it is painted! I like the stucco look on the outside, too. Very nicely done!
Hey Mike. Enjoyed this video. I'm thinking I might try a brick face of some sort on my roundhouse, although the stucco in a darker shade might work. Could you clarify what you mean by a "black wash"?
Great idea on the stucco work Mike! I didn't see any glass over the doors. Did you decide against having glass there or just going to do that later? Thanks. Cheers, Dan
can you give out some info on the styrene material you used and also the stucco material. I'm new at this and any help is appreciated. I just ordered the turntable and roundhouse. Here's hoping !!
I do not remember on the styrene as I had it lying around. The Stucco is simply Acrylic paint with ANY color of Arizona Rock and Mineral powder mixed in to a near paste. Mike
Looks good. Now why do you consider that work an "Americanization " of the roundhouse? What makes it American compared to the original out-of-the-box? I am interested in it as I will sratch-build my roundhouse, thanks!
Hi Mike! You did an amazing job on this project! I wish that you would have showed exactly how you applied your stucco mixture to various parts of the structure. To do this, did you use an airbrush or a regular brush? -from Tom Pilling
Looks amazing! I love the stucko texture.
Thanks Man !!!
Thank you you are awesome how you do simple things into huge nice looking projects
Thank You Gracie !!
Very well done ! I want to try to germanize a kato roundhouse for my kato turntable ! Thank you for showing your suggestions how to make.

Thank you Michael. You will have no problems with the stucco, just prime the model first.
Mike

Thanks so much Michael , once again, glad to have you.
Mike
looks great, I hope you do a video on the installation of the turn table.
Thanks , there is nothing to installing the table besides sitting it in place (after detailing of coarse).
Thanks , Mike
Mike Fifer thought you have to cut the foam under it
Not if you are using Unitrack.
Thanks , Mike

Do it later after I do the details inside.
Mike
I was hoping to see you doing the wash of the Black.
I'm new to lighting with led. I would like to see how you power yours. I have strip led that I'll be using.
It has been in some of the other videos, but I am using the Woodland Scenics Just Plug System

I stuccoed the outside and it had no doors , so I scratch built the doors.
Thanks , Mike

I used a soft 1/2" brush and brushed on the first coat and then stippled on the second coat.
Thanks , Mike
Hmmm stuco that would work i need an older roundhouse in theory. But stuco would hide age nicely.
Thanks William , That is what I thought.
Mike
Wonder if a copper or shheet metal roog might be more appropriate should not be hard modification
Hi Mike. I see you jumped channels and did a guest appearance on Toy Man Television. 😉
I didn't know I was but it certainly happened.

Mike
