Admittedly this newer ILX looks more de-Civic-fied, but Acura still seems disinterested in really upgrading the tech and drivetrain performance in this car. An increase to around 220 or 230hp and cosmetically modifying the newer Honda infotainment systems (i.e. Accord and Pilot) to give it an Acura style, would make this ILX a strong contender in this class.

Honestly, Base model looks like the best value. I'd rather have real buttons instead of an info-tainment system with a touchscreen. Wish Acura had offered a turbo charged engine option. And quite frankly, a moonroof delete. Cars I buy, I keep for a long time. Last thing I want is a leaky moonroof or sunroof because the seals got old and deteriorated. Passenger side literally looks sad and depressed. But would still make for an excellent buy as Pre-owned.

After test driving both since they were both at the same price point, I chose a Civic Touring over the ILX premium. Really the only thing the Acura had going for it, is it would retain more value over time being an Acura. The touring had all the bells and whistles the ILX premium had, andwas frankly more fun to drive, which is why I chose it. I'm not gonna just go for the prestige of having the Acura logo on my car If I didnt enjoy it more.

Speaking of those vents, thats a lot of design space to use to house reflectors. It would be great to see rear fog lamps in those locations. Thanks for another great review.

  • @MugatuJag

I think it looks great, interior yes does look dated, for a Acura it is a great price but I think I would probably also consider a mid-level Accord with a few options for that price, I know that this is a different category but for the same price the Accord is really really nice. However I'm sure that they're going to have great lease rates for this car and since a lot of people lease these days it's going to be an attractive buy!!

The interior is horrifying (I just laughed while typing that because I’ve never thought of that being an adjective for a luxury car). This thing looks like a half cooked attempt at a car. A stunning exterior (really only with the A spec package) to catch the eyes but you better tint your windows because when someone walks by your car in the parking lot they’ll probably giggle at this shit. @@davehouston6528 The only hateful thing is the pricetag ($25k is base model) on those tarted up 3 generation ago Civics. Having said that, heard Honda is bringing back the Integra (which I assume will replace the ILX) so thats promising.

@@jbm0866 What do you think of the Integra vs the ILX? I feel it has a better interior design (much more modern) but I prefer the K24 vs the L15 and the DCT is nice in the ILX.

@@Nix_Pardus No comparison imo, the ILX was based on arguably the worst Civic platform ever (started development during the world financial crisis, Honda went for cheap) and they kept using it from like 2012 to 2021...which is criminal since the base price was $30k and both the past and current gen Civics were much nicer cars. The Integra is a luxury version of the latest gen Civic hatch, which the old ILX was never offered as....and unlike the ILX, a very good car at a decent price. You do have a point about the cvt versus the perfectly good dual clutch in the ILX, but that is Honda's only mistake with the Integra imo...I'd have one if they were priced a couple grand lower to start.

U$10K more, you'd have Tesla Model 3, which is 1000 times better
