Great points on the future sole plate not matching the upper, like how did we get to a point where the boot is that stiff and aggressive? Andrew is right, puma need to bring back the Adap-Lite tech especially with the success of Adi going back to Hybridtouch. Just add some reinforcements for a more stable upper. Puma let us down with the King, remember the evospeed 1.4 leather. That’s what the King should have been. Also miss having the evopower series, the future is a great boot but none of Puma’s boot stand out in the crowd except for the carbon amd that’s way too pricey. They have done one great thing though, their takedowns have been some of the highest quality for a few years now
We all know what would help puma, I don’t want to say save is using the Ferrari brand. I like their nitro content, and carbon, pushing that supershoe way.
Sorry on this little opinion rant. I think Puma has genuinely lost any sort of direction they had and all the momentum or progress they’ve got from 2017 to 2020 is more or less down the drain. Granted there were some exceptions like the “evo series” of boots be it the evopower,evotouch and the Evospeed specifically from evospeed 1.4 to 17 which if you exclude the SLs were all good in their own rights in my opinion btw. However their current direction is you just either will be wowed or underwhelmed. At the moment brands like NB and Skechers has even overtaken them which the former have made so much gains in the last 5 years. Excluding Japanese brands like Mizuno even within the niche market some of their boots are nowhere near to Diadora who has been making good sneaky releases by re-releasing older models Lastly on the line itself,it took Ultra 3 years to get back to the level their 2020-2021 levels at after being in the wilderness in those 2 years. Excessive colorway drops are flipping annoying so agree reduce and for the carbon ultra just give it a Mizuno MIJ treatment by releasing it in small numbers. Also with players like Harry Maguire and Cody Gakpo all wearing leather Ultras why not have a leather option. Puma future I think it’s as good as dead,the hype they had is gone and the boots have evolved so poorly. On the Puma King,the whole synthetic release is seriously not helping and agree when the previous king was terrible you’ve lost any sort of hype for it. This isn’t the first time Puma did it when they did in between 2012 and 2014 which led to Puma discontinuing the King before returning in 2019.. Either do what James suggested or alternatively just do a hype drop release by re-releasing some of the classic Kings they had in the mid/late 2000z. These boots still look great
Hmmm, interesting here. Also, are you saying Diadora is better than Mizuno, Adler and other Japanese boots? Diadora is struggling MASSIVELY when it comes to football boots and there is a reason they are focusing more on running these days. I like the stuff they are coming out with but some of the other stuff seems to be kind of just marking off a checklist. Puma really needs to sort stuff out. I think one of the most frustrating things is that a lot of us can see what Puma needs to do to fix things and no one at Puma seems to have any idea. Its wild.
@ ohh think I should clarify it a little bit when I said excluding I meant Adler,Asics and Mizuno has their own special audience and no way they’re better than Diadora so sorry if there’s any confusion on that I honestly feel the same way on your second paragraph. When in recent they’re trying to fix they just add more new problems to it ,it’s just frustrating given I really do have a soft spot for the brand. Plus always wanted a puma king as a kid amongst the t90s,predator,adipure and tiempos
