Those front pre runner bumpers are the best Axial ever made! I use them on ever of my TRX4 trucks ha ha. It's 2019 every RTR should come with metal gears and links. So many better out of the box rigs, Traxxas,Vaterra,Redcat. There is no place for the Honcho or Deadbolt on the market anymore. Can't argue price point anymore with the TRX4 Sport and Gen8. Wonder how Axial will handle this?
true but.. I replace my trans gears my gear horn and drive shaft to all metal and upgraded the wheels to B-locks and it wipes the floor with any redcat and most traxxas crawlers. I dont understand why ppl want shit to have all metal and upgraded rcs out of the box. Because if that was the case they would be even more expensive and not only that its more fun to break stuff then upgrade it. It's an awesome feeling knowing your rc is just a little bit stronger and will preforme better. However the only thing I stripped was the gear horn. And then one of the trans but that was my fualt. Other then that this rc was worth it 100%
I run my RCs "ALL THE TIME" in - 30 and colder in the winter( it does get in the 30+ in summer)!!! LMAO when you said you were shivering in +12!!! LOL I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. Great video!
I got mine out of the box and drove it about 10 ft on a shop floor, bumped into a wall, and the bumper snapped off. Very poorly designed bumper brackets. I spent the afternoon making a stubby stinger bumper out of steel for it, turned out very nicely.
it's weird to me that you said that the honcho has some plastic gears in the transmission because i took apart my transmission and it had all metal gears.
I'm definitely getting a Honcho..Andy probably the scx10 3 😁 ....currently I'm driving Axial SCX10 2 ...You've got some skills on the rocks though. #salute
Thanks for the review! He is perfect like that for me. It will not need to be updated or very little. An addition of a rack on the roof with additional lights. Thanks for the video. Yvan :o)

Yovani Lopez hi, I’m a new to honcho and I want to order this honcho, but I’m not sure when I open the box and I just can play it or I have to order anything more to complete my run? (I mean do they include battery and charger?)
Hi sir, nice video... So i've 1st axial honcho (old version), may I asking you : 1. Is esc original = waterproof? 2. Is esc original = resetting using hobbywing program card? (Problems with drag brake) 3. Is it save to play with 3s lipo battery, for original esc & motor. Thx a lot sir...
buy some jb weld and a steel rod and slap that on the inside of the rear links. grind down and shape after hard, paint flat black and boom no more flex in the rear.
OK I JUST MADE UP MY MIND,,,,WAS GONNA SAVE FOR THE ONLY SCX10 1.0,,,,,,,,,,BUT I HAVE A SUPER NICE WATERPROOF SERVO TO GO RIGHT IN THE CRAWLER,,,THEN GONNA ORDER A FRONT SWAY/STEARING ARMS,,,THEN BE GOOD TO GO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT WHATS UP WIRH THE PARTS DO REF SC10 PARTS FIT???OR DOES IT HABE TO SAY FOR(SCX10 #2:/) BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET A LIFT KIT WAITING WITH MY WATERPROOF SERVO!!!!(THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!!)
So the new axle is more stiff? Like less flex in the c hub and steering part of the axle. I have some beat up older style and im considering running the updated version before getting some rock jocks. Also, what size screws hold the bearing in on the back axle?
Do they make aluminium axle houses for the honcho? I have had mine 2 days and broke the front. Axial is sending me a new one but they r on back order till the end of November. Kinda bummed
You weren't the only one according to the comments... many other Honchos had bumper issues as well. So I believe the truck is trying to tell you all something and I know what that something is!! Well it's simple, Mr. Honcho obviously does NOT like it's own bumper and quite frankly, I don't blame the poor truck. The front bumper is one of the nastiest eye-sores I've seen on an Axial but the length of it is actually a waaay bigger problem than just how fugly it looks. The first thing that should be done to this rig out of the box would be a front bumper circumcision! Besides being a mount for the fog lights, the ONLY other thing this bumper does is take away ANY and ALL of the vehicles approach angle. Approach angle doesn't even exist on the Honcho and considering these RCs are supposed to be designed to climb steep things, how does that make sense? How can it climb when the front tires don't and can't get anywhere near an obstacle or line that has a steep vertical entry? Same problem when attempting to exit a steep decent... it's going to get hung up and well, where's the logic there? Once the damn bumper has been removed (one way or another. ha), which IMHO is a HUGE upgrade, and people will notice how incredible it's technical crawling capabilities have increased. I feel like I should be somewhat apologetic now, as this was on the borderline of becoming a small rant. hehe. oh well.. and hey, plz don't mistake my passion as negativity. Ok? ** To whom it may concern; Please DISREGARD this comment if you're the type who ONLY drives or plans to ONLY drive basic trails with this thing and NEVER want it's tires to touch the traditional rock crawling course type of terrain. Thank you. p.s. I know I'm an ass cuz of it... waiting for so long, but after years of enjoying your content I just now finally subscribed! woohoo.
Hi i just got my axial scx 10 2 and the steering link kept stripping. And i was wondering if that was a problem with yours, or if it was just my crappy maintenance. please comment back.
Great review! I have the Rubicon 👍. Is there any chance someday-you could go oover on how to videotape your rig. How do you get your camera down that low LOL
I know this review is 3 years old, but I am very new to the hobby and trying to decide between this Hancho or the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport. They are very close in price. Any advice or opinions from someone with experience would be much appreciated !
if you know anything about budgeting you would get a freakin deadbolt. and buy the honcho body later on down the road. for a 100 dollars less you wont tell the difference between the deadbolt and honcho.. if you have the money get the honcho. But if moneys tight folks get the deadbolt.
Jeffrey Pak Axial makes a better product imo. It has better weight balance out of the box. The TRX-4 has a weird battery placement and it's very top heavy.
Can you change the relation power/speed in the Axial II?. I mean, I want my Axial with more speed (does not important if I loose any strenght). With the built in relation the truck is very slow.
I have the Cherokee scx10 ii and I kind of prefer the axles and links that are on there. To me it seems like they cheapened the truck not made it better
Does Axial even listen to it's fans? For years people asked for a Honcho release updated with all the parts from their kit version. This should have been their flagship product like the new wrangler release. In fact I believe it should have included all the hopups and the 2 speed transmission the kit version has. Cheap crawlers are a dime a dozen, this is expensive compared to a Redcat, they should have went the other direction. Now to get the rig I want, I have to buy either the wrangler and get rid of the body and buy the 2 speed tranny with the 2 speed kit or I have to get a kit version and buy all the body separately and I'd buy the old body because the color is better and I want the spare tire.... so oh yeah a tire and wheel also, don't forget rock sliders and mounts ...wth? Sorry, everyone sounds like they're being paid as advertisements in these reviews. Did you spend your own money on it? I'd rather buy a deadbolt and upgrade that.
agreed deadbolt ftw. once you mod the rear links to stop flexing its unstoppable and as capable as any crawler on this table. rock sliders is a must for rocks and even just twigs poking up and hanging you up.
TRX4 Sport hands down. Portals, great grippy tires, metal links, more metal in general, better looking body, etc. I know this is 10 months late lmao 😂😂😂
The solid axles suck. Friends honcho broke the chub and can't replace just the chin. And can't get just the housing. So now he has to buy a complete aftermarket axle
