I really like the interior and exterior styling of these, definitely a big improvement over the previous generation. I think as a daily driver I would much prefer this over my 4runner, but for cargo capacity and off-road capability, I still think the 4Runner has the advantage, though it's worse at everything else haha. I also love that you can still get the V8 in the Grand Cherokee, while it seems like everybody else is going to smaller turbo engines.
Agree to disagree, I think the new exterior looks hideous compared to last model. I love my 17 and when it’s time I’ll probably just go for a gladiator rather than new JGC
@@camaroboi13 I agree. I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, and honestly believe it looks so much better than the new one.
Ford really needs to develop something like this, sort of a Ford Edge urban unibody with true 4x4 capabilities and comfort.
I just got a 22 Overland two-row, with no markup. I love it, sweet spot of SUVs for me.
Hey would you mind sending me the dealership you got it at , been looking for sticker !

Excellent review and much appreciated. I have one on order 🙂, but its been 2-months and not even started build status. I'm beginning to wonder if Jeep has even entered production yet. What happened to the TrailHawk you reviewed? Is it for sale?
I feel the same ordered mine jan 28th
Jeep is retooling one of their factories. Grand Cherokee (2 door) production has been halted for 90 days
Just got an update on mine that was ordered Feb 9 and it’s finally built 🤩. But they had to transfer it to a specialty body shop for the advanced package I added so who knows how much longer. But it is frustrating.
Those other vehicles you mentioned can’t even come close to the off-road capabilities of this Trailhawk. I would hope Trailhawk buyers actually go off-road sometimes.
Yeah you’re right, a Bronco could never do this stuff 🙄
Exactly
nice, love the new roof line ... looks more like the org wagoneer than the new wagoneers do
the turn signals look like they flash amber/yellow but when ive seen the car in real life they flash red. i was holding my breath for a moment lol
Trailhawk and piano glass plastic doesn’t go together well in my head :)
I did enjoy my time in 2013 Gr Ch Laredo. It’s a great vehicle. I miss it, although it’s too wide for Japan :)
Just got a 22 limited love it

How come you don’t off road test anymore?
Reminds me of the XJ Grand Cherokee.
Wk2 tailhawk has rock sliders does the new have or is just plastic
Looks to be a great vehicle. The last generation was loved by those who purchased it and I think it has aged well in the class. The 4XE is an excellent option as well. However I would wait for the new Hurricane TT engine since I like forced induction.
Why do you say 'non-luxury' ? serious question. What do you find the luxury brands do better?
Just watching this was thinking the same thing lol. This is a 60-65k newly designed interior on a jeep trail hawk. It’s a luxury/suv/off-roader
Was that St George, Utah in the background???
YES
So beautiful, I remember driving on that road with that view but didn’t know there was an actual trail up there, what’s it called?
Great advice to test drive before you buy.
No cars to test drive!
How tall are you? The new jeeps look higher than before? Using your height for comparison. Thanks.
5’3
@@IronmanDarts haha, and you can scale that 5’3 due to his tiny hands!
The 7 slots in a jeep had nothing to do about the continents, it was simply a legal issue used to differentiate it from the ford.
Ok
@@everymandriver interestingly, the main evidence of the first "GP" (jeep) in Antarctica as shown in a military picture was produced by Ford. Ford's GP had 9 slots where Willys chose 7.
Very close to buying one. But I have seen that this makes drivers push-button off-road experts. Not that the driver is truly that good (I drove a Toyota FJ Cruiser for 10 years and acquired some skills). But with this, you don't have to be that good. Now - can I live with the fuel consumption of a Hemi (in order to tow) or stick with the V6. Not sure yet.

The price sucks !
Awesome!
Thx
The only competition is the 4 Runner. How can you say the Ourback and Passport are competition?
I got your Willy. Full power
Bring back the Willy
It wish they made a basic version of the Trailhawk. Something that had fewer comfort features and more utility features. Like a higher suspension, non-airlift, V8 engine, HD tow package, Quadra Drive II, skid plates, tow hooks, sealed systems, raised air intake, sealed doors, and minimal extra’s. Basically I want a Laredo with all the 4WD and towing capabilities the Grand Cherokee offers. Don’t need the high end technology. That way it wouldn’t cost $55-$60k. At that price, why would someone not just get a 4WD Tahoe or Expedition with the Hd tow package? They would get more towing capacity, more space, and more utility for the money.
$60k?!...for something you know isn't going to hold up? Think I'll take a 4Runner...
@@byronlarson5534 for the price I would. You can get a TRD Pro for less than the GC. I'm much less concerned about infotainment, as long as I can connect Bluetooth I don't really care. I don't use all the fancy crap personally. With the gas mileage, either way your driving a 6 cyl. so it's not going to be good one way or another.
One thing I've had my eye on is the Cherokee TH. Seems like a pretty solid little unit.
@@jonathanbormann5077 where can you get a trd pro for less than a gc? Everywhere I look they are going for 60k plus which is insane to me. I’m stuck between 4Runner and gc. 4Runner’s are units man and so well built. But the driving dynamics in the gc with that zf 8 speed which is such a good transmission has me so stuck lol
@@mattbrown942 the TRD Pros are about the same around here, 60k, but the GC Trailhawk (equivalent in my mind) is $70k+ around me also so not worth the extra 10k to me. Reliability and practicality are pretty much the top 2 on my list
@@byronlarson5534 agree with this, and these are the reasons I chose a Jeep GC over a 4runner
@@mattbrown942 I have a 5th gen 4Runner. I like it, but honestly I think they're overrated. Yes, they're reliable, that's true. But if you live in the Northeast, you have to take special care of them to prevent them from rusting out, they haven't fixed anything since the earlier generations in regards to that. Also, the driving dynamics are not good. They're terribly slow, they don't handle very well, and they just have a truck-like feeling. Some people like that, I honestly don't mind it and it initially drew me to the vehicle, but 3 years in it does get kind of old. I really don't enjoy driving it, but it doesn't make sense to get rid of it with what it would cost me to replace it. I can't emphasize enough how slow it is. The four liter V6 doesn't make a lot of power to begin with, and most of it is in the high RPM ranges. Conversely, it only has a 5speed automatic transmission with pretty tall gearing, and it wants to keep you at the lowest possible RPM for fuel economy. Foot to the floor, driving it like you stole it, it's actually okay, but if you try to drive normally it just seems terribly slow. The motor always seems to be struggling, especially when you're trying to climb grades on the highway, or just trying to get up to cruising speed or merge. While you're doing that, a lot of noise and harshness from the motor intrudes into the cabin, and it is not pleasant sounding at all.
Positives of the vehicle are the stellar reliability, crazy high resale value, lots of interior cargo room, and that roll down hatch window is awesome, especially if you have dogs. They're simple so they're pretty easy to work on if you're a DIY type person, and they do have really good off-road capability. I'm sure this Trailhawk is capable but I would say a TRD off-road 4Runner is probably more capable.
You do give up a lot of on road driving comfort in order to have that off-road capability, so depending on what you're doing with the vehicle, it may not be worth the trade off. Honestly, I think 90% of 4Runner owners would have been much better off with a Highlander.
Oh, I drive like a grandma, rarely exceeds 65 mph, and drive mostly highway and get in the 19 MPG range with it. The mileage is pretty appalling for what it is. Pretty sure all the full size pickups from the big three can exceed this MPG.
Toyota guys like to say it's all about the smiles per gallon, but realistically this vehicle is not fun to drive unless you're in the dirt.
It's a goodlookn rig for sure but the air suspension killed it for me.. that would have to be deleted and kinetic lift ..from jeep guy to landcruiser guy I just can't see how these don't break in half. But I guess no one really 4 wheels anymore other than overlanding
I took my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee down Black Bear Pass then up Imogene Pass.
It was a little tippy on the Black Bear Pass shelf road section, but performed great overall on both trails
I’ve been driving Jeep’s for over 30 years. J=just E=exchange E=every P=part!
11" of ground clearance is huge... on par with my RAM Rebel. Those wheels are ugly... all black would look WAY better. Need room for some 35's on that :-)
The rims look like they came from the Santa Cruz.
Don't like the styling.
The steering wheel and tail lights are ugly 🤮 how do people see past that?
You'd have to ask them LOL
I need car max 12.000 dollar$
If you got 75k go ahead by a jeep////!!Fiat. BTW check out their recall on them just came out they got major recall on them
Jeep’s brand 👇👇
Predicted Reliability..? BELOW AVERAGE…. As usual…. It’s a Jeep. Nice looking though.
Jeep has been improving. Probably better than Land Rover.
Just like the last generation, once they work out the kinks it will be above average in reliability. 2014-2016 were below average, 2018-2021 gc’s were much much improved over the earlier years of the refresh. This will be no different probably
I had a GC….within 8 months of ownership, the radiator blew up on the fwy. Last and only Jeep I owned.
@@tklakers last gc I had had 180k miles and zero issues so I haven’t had that experience. What year was yours?
