Everglades Hunting Camps

During our inaugural ride in our "new" airboat, we found some hidden hunting camps. Some were run down while others were quite elaborate.

so people can own private property in the middle of the everglades? How does this work?

I was told they are all leased from the state. I don't know the terms. There are a lot of them.
