It’s because it has everything. John Wayne is on a serious quest. He has his loyal band following him; dog, Indian tracker friend, his two sons. And they’re on a mission set against the fading era of the West. One last ride to bring back Little Jake.
Elmer Bernstein the genius...this one of my favorite Duke themes, along with "The Comancheros"...and the lush theme from "The Great Santini" closing theme...thanks for posting !!
Yes, Bernstein displayed fine writing for the western ethos with rich orchestral colours. Just compare this wonderful score to the weak score of Burt Bacharach for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Não existem hoje um ator a altura do grande gigante John Wayne ,todos os filmes dele promove o grande pais que e Estados Unidos America., e contagiar uma geração de jovens a valorizar as riquezas ,pelo de seu país.
Damn, Elmer Bernstein can write music, his Magnificent Seven theme will be like the "William Tell Overture" almost 300 years from now people will still be listening and loving it!!!!
Same… Well I saw A Million Ways to Die in the Wild West… but I doubt that counts. Back to the Future Part 3, that’s close though. 😂 I love John Wayne films. A great actor. This soundtrack is amazing too. I just wanted it to keep playing rather than actual dialogues. 😂
Un classico dove si celebra l'onestà e la sicurezza delle proprie scelte, la solidarietà familiare e l'amicizia virile. La colonna sonora richiama a quella di " True grit "
Just watched Four Days in November about the Kennedy Assassination for the first time. The theme music throughout reminds me of this. Bernstein wrote it 4DiN too.
I don't know if it's John Wayne's greatest film or not, but it's one of (my) favorites. Richard Boone certainly played one of Wayne's greatest adversaries in this movie. On my personal 10-scale, I rate "Big Jake" a 9.2!
I really like most of the Wayne westerns of the 60s and 70s. Big Jake is one of the my favorites. After the ambush it kind of lurches a bit with the Big Jake character fighting a bit too much with his sons. Like most of the great Wayne westerns of the era, the first half is better the second. But overall they are still very good films.
Elmer Bernstein's themes for westerns tended to blend together a bit, but it doesn't matter: they *defined* the Western genre. Nothing gets your blood pumping like a Bernstein theme!
I'm going to make it a point to watch this movie because it's Richard Boone written by Harry Julian and Rita M. Fink, and Harry Julian Fink wrote some of my favorite Have Gun - Will Travel episodes. P.S.: My favorite John Wayne movie scores are probably The Undefeated and Rio Lobo.
The trouble with money is that there's always somebody out wanting to take it away from you..... but still that's the only thing wrong with it..... now ain't that the awful bloody truth .
Beautiful RIP Maureen O'Hara but one Question if she's kept telling people that he was Dead and when someone did ask her about her husband and she said I have no husband and she hadn't seen him in 15Years then how did she know where to send the cable message asking him to come immediately?
How long does it take a dumo country boy to figure out how to loop music on RUclips... Not long at all but it may take a couple years to figure out you have that option. What the hell I'm still fascinated with the microwave 🇺🇸🤠
You can call me father, you can call me Jacob, you can call me a nasty son of a bitch......but if you ever call me daddy again we're gonna finish this fight
Watch Comancheros. It's 1845, Texas is still independent from the U.S. and a Texas Ranger cares about a Louisiana State wanted poster for a guy that comes in off shore to Galveston.... Okay but onto the gun inaccuracy, John Wayne is seen selling Winchester 1874 models in 1845 to the Comancheros...the first full issue of the pistol cartridge caliber lever action was a patent by the Volcanic Arms company that made the 1860 Henry repeating rifle, the manufactured versions weren't widespread until after 1860! The gun that Micheal uses isnt even a 1911
It Was Your Mother's Idea And I Agree That We Take the Boy Rather Than Pay For Him.My Mother's Idea I Don't Believe You .I Thought I Knew Her Hardly. There Were 10Mccandless People Shot 8Killed One Crippled Your own Brother Shot Maybe Crippled Maybe Dead And My Grandson Kidnapped You Think We're going to Pay Them for That You Crazy
My son and I watched Big Jake a few days ago for my 71st birthday. Great.
Happy birthday 🎉
Beautiful Art work RIP JOHN WAYNE RICHARD BOON.MAUREEN O'HARA GLEN CORBETT.
Back when western mean something ...live forever john Wayne .
I grew up watching this movie and still love it to this day. It's a classic and one of the best westerns out there!
I love it, it's from my birth year. But so many movies from The Duke are great.
Yea same here but in my opinion Hondo was better, but all John Wayne westerns where grate.
@@TexasRanger-lf6jcHondo is good but his best is definitely Rio Bravo or The Searchers. All of his movies are great though!
The Duke John Wayne was the greatest actor ever! Greetings from germany

YES GREAT THEME TUNE, THAT WEE BIT OF FUNKY SOUNDTRACK AS THEY WERE TAKING HI GRANDSON AWAY, WAS JUST GREAT.
It is so hard to pick a favorite John Wayne Movie, but this would probably be my selection.
My favorite John Wayne movie. Not sure why, it just is.
Yes, me to, it's my favorite western of the Duke. I see this western with my father when i was young on the tv in France. Greatest John Wayne ! !
Something about it is just great, I agree. Can't put my finger on it either.
It’s because it has everything. John Wayne is on a serious quest. He has his loyal band following him; dog, Indian tracker friend, his two sons. And they’re on a mission set against the fading era of the West. One last ride to bring back Little Jake.
Mine also. this and The Alamo
Mine is Hondo.
Love most of the John Wayne soundtracks!

Theres so much sincerity in older movies, I love Mr Wayne. Me mudder got me a box set because of my love of spaghetti westerns.

I hope that if I ever get to do something heroic, my soundtrack sounds like this.
Nostalgic!
