Sonora/Jamestown - On Friday we had light steady rain from around 12 noon to around 9pm. It completely stopped overnight, and here it is Saturday morning, and there's no real rain coming down anymore. It looks to me that Tuoulmne county has been, and continues to be, on the bottom/southern edge of this latest rain event. I would hestitate to call this a true AR. I've seen more rain produced from a "normal" low pressure storm system come out of the Gulf of Alaska, and sweep down through the west coast. The ski areas are probably going to close down until they get some actual snow again. My prediction is that we will get our needed snow and good rains in March and April.

In no way is weather “simple” there is a reason atmospheric science isn’t a popular major

Not all rain is atmospheric rivers there is so much math that goes into predicting a true atmospheric river and there is so much science that goes behind what qualifies as an atmospheric river
