This series is amazing. And your reviews are too. Structure, pacing, and style are always perfect. A soothing voice on top - as a gaming-enthusiast one gotta love your work. Tip for a future review in this section: Giant's fluid movement system by jet-pack reminded me a lot of 'Outwars', a 3rd person shooter from 1998, by SingleTrac / Ziggurat Interactive. Would love to see this one in a future review!
I think this would be a big hit if it was released today because of the online community that didn't really exist back when this was released. But I doubt anyone even knows this game exists now days. It was the first open-world FPS game that combined RTS mechanics where you had a base to upgrade, expand, and go out and collect food in a multiplayer that I played
I remember this game. At least remember installing it and running it. But at that time, my graphics card couldn't render polygons for 3D models so all I saw in this game were white boxes and some terrain texture. That said, this game looks amazing. It is very dreamlike. As in I have seen landscapes like these in my dreams for sure!
I couldn't remember this game's name for the longest time, and just yesterday cleaning up stored stuff I came across my old CD cylinders with all my games and found it. Yes, great game!
I acquired this game either through a friend, or I found it in a house we moved into, either way I didn't buy it at a store. It was a total surprise! I still remember using arpfix to make Delphi topless, then worriedly minimizing whenever my parents would walk through the room
Holy shit, I played this game as a kid but up until recently, I couldn't remember the name but this game crawled back into my memory. Thanks for the video and the refresher, this really took me back
Damn, this game seriously brings me back. I remember my favourite part being upgrading the jetpack and just being able to cruise across the map. I never got that far. I got the the mermaid chick but can't ever remember getting to play as the Kabuto as I remember the game being really difficult for a kid of my age at the time. Such a great hidden gem! So much nostalgia. The good ol' days, when I had not a worry in the world...oh how I wish I could go back💔 Another hidden gem I remember was Shinobido 2: Way of the Ninja (PSP). Absolutely amazing game! Tbf, I might actually get a PSP emulator for my PC and replay it as it was that good of a game!
I remember when this came out. The days of Omikron: The Nomad Soul (Glowy Bowie on Quantic Dreams debut title), Syberia, Outcast, Deus Ex... We were crossing a threshold, we just didn't know yet. :-) Other forgotten gems you might wanna delve into: Sacrifice (third person action summon 'em up) Dink Smallwood (simple visuals hiding an engaging isometric action rpg, also hilarious) Ground Control (though Massive Entertainment is still around as Ubisoft Sweden, and working on low-key titles such as, oh I dunno, The Division?) Evolva; The Thing (both from Computer Artworks, who unfortunately went the way of the Dodo) Food for thought!
I remember going to a dicksmith back in 2001 and finding this gem in must go cart. As soon as I started playing it I couldn't stopped. I have replayed this game far to many times and had to buy it again on GOG when I lost the disc
Oh my god holy shit. I knew this game from my childhood, I remember watching my cousin play it and totally liking it, but I never knew the name and now all these memories are rushing back that is so cool! Thanks!
I got this game from my dad on a CD(it's the version with the uncensored version of delphi;) and I've played through it twice already and I'm playing for the third time and it's still not boring me
I am old, I played all the Lucas arts click games, I played Leisure suit Larry, Armed and Dangerous mentioned below and I still play games. Deadpool, was a good funny recent game... HOWEVER, no game is close to being as funny as Giants Citezen Kabuto.
I loved this game! I'm not sure how I came by it, but I remember it being the first game I upgraded my graphics card for, from a TNT2 to a GeForce 2 MX. The controls were great, and even though by today's standard the environments were pretty empty, they are still beautiful! I often would stop just to enjoy the view, forgetting I'm playing a game. The third act, however, was where the game took a slight downturn.
My father plays this game non stop since it was released, he knows every single map inside out, he knows every A.I. mechanic inside out, it's so funny to watch him play, I mean he knows literally where every enemy will be before they even get there, I asked him once how he doesn't get bored out because he is playing the same game over, over and over again, he just said I play games so I can relax my mind, and I guess a lot of people forgot that's the reason games were made for, for mind relaxing fun. Thank you Planet Moon Studios
Great Video and description of the game, One of the best games ever made and as the guy said the humor in it makes it really unique and even more entertaining.
Oh boy... one of my definite favourites ever since I got it by chance when I was a youngster. I concur with the fun/10 rating, simply because the game may not be the best looking (especially today), may not have the deepest inventory aspect (although it's still solid), and may not overwhelm with deep lore or hearbreaking story, it's still incredibly well put together and simply... well, fun. A must-play for anybody who can look past the aged graphics.
I used to play this game and tribes 2 around the same time. Both awesome games. Many nights spent playing this and listening to Portishead on the stereo.
Multiplayer was incredible. Playing Kabuto against my friends is one of my fondest gaming memories as a kid. Would love to see you make a video of "Sacrifice" or "Blade: The edge of Darkness"(this last game and "Commandos" are the only good games ever produced in my country, but both are masterpieces).
I always loved the mission where you had to save the smarties and then use them to build a base, I always loved bringing them food and watching them be safe and well fed, although it didnt last very long I would always get my base swarmed by the reapers or run out of food.
I’m not massively into the whole strategy (or shooter) genre, but this part was genuinely superb. Part strategy, part shooter, and just difficult to make it feel challenging but not impossible. Loved it. The whole game.
