Everyone that has listened to him knew! He’s had 420 hit singles and sold over 100 million records worldwide. He had hits in several genres. He was also the a great actor.
Need to check out Kenny and Lionel duet awesome
@@marklichnovsky6534 I have! Lionel is one of my favorites!
That’s exactly what I said to myself. We knew!!! Soooo many great songs. And if y’all don’t love “Six Pack”, we have a problem. 😉❤️
I was smiling when he asked who knew.. I was saying the same thing you said...everyone knew😊😊
@@jennhurl Charlie Rich was the Silver Fox. KR was the Gambler for obvious reasons.
You asked who knew Kenny could sing like this? Lional Richie did!
I second that the live version of Kenny and Lionel singing this together is worth a watch...their longtime friendship definitely comes through :)
Thank you, that filled my heart with love
Yesssss!
Yes, that one is so good too. Kenny is honoring Lionel and tells the story of how he got him to write the song for him, and then Lionel comes on stage, and they sing it together. So good!
Kenny does so many good ballads. Love him singing "We've Got Tonight" with Sheena Easton. Actually, I liked seeing him and Dolly sing it at his concert. It was really good. I am a sucker for 80s ballads.
YES!!!!
Many of us didn't see this as a country song. We thought of it more as R&B sung by a country singer. Kenny Rogers was well respected because he was a great singer. Kenny's voice was like velvet. He made this song a hit. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Lady is the epitome of a "crossover" song, charting on 4 different Billboard charts, #1 on 3 of them (Country, Hot 100 & Adult Contemporary), but it only hit #42 on Top Soul Singles.
Kenny did a lot of music exploration and sung several different genres. Although he was more well known for his country
True story.
I don't ever remember you smiling like that, Van. Cheers.
My mama most definitely threw her drawers on stage at his concert back in the day. She’s 76 now and has zero regrets about it.
Lionel Richie knew where this song belonged. He trusted Kenny with something he wrote.
I cry everytime I hear this song. I grew up on Kenny's Music. He was my mom's crush. RIP to my mom and Kenny!!
We all knew Kenny Rodgers could sing like that. He's done it his whole career
Song writers loved getting Kenny to sing their songs. He crossed multiple genres and was a likeable guy. Songs would sell and he always gave the writer credit.
"Who knew Kenny Rogers could sing like this"........Everyone lol
I'm a lady who NEVER to this day was loved like the song says but for a moment listening to this I could ♥ pretend. RIP 🙏 Kenny and thank you.
That’s what a G looks like. Straight up Gangsta
Kenny was a bad man in his day. Brother had skills
We knew how he could sing. A multi talented singer. Saw him in concert Aurora Illinois. He was fabulous
A lady friend told me that when Kenny sang this live, there wasn't a dry seat in the house.
She was right. I was standing in front of a stage just crying my eyes out when Kenny was singing this song. Felt like he was singing each and every one of us. Unforgettable.
@@jeanday9747 Don't think that's what Martin was referring to, lol
The music back in the day was great
Saw him in 78 i was 10…loved him…rip kenny❤️
I knew !! My 83 yr old mom has taken me to see him in concert 5 times !! No joke .. she loves him and I do too !! And I’m 46… lol 😂 👍❤️❤️😘😘
Kenny Rodgers was a living legend! ♥️
Lionel and Kenny's friendship and how they respected each other was so great!
This was our first dance song at our wedding, 40 years ago. Still my favorite song and we still dance to it.
Kenny Rogers has a voice like no one else. I have seen him in concert five times and every one of them were awesome. I had the biggest crush on him when I was a young girl.👏👏👏👏👏❤❤
This song is like a gift to all the guys out there, because when a guy dances with his lady to this song you know she will melt into his arms lol
Yup!
Amen to that!
I asked my fiancé to start writing out songs he would like included in our wedding playlist this was one of them. He’s not a sentimental guy and has a hard time saying how he feels when I saw this song and really listened to the words. Man it makes me love and appreciate him so much more. The waterworks are on in full effect 🥺😭🥰
Im 46 and I knew he could sing like this! My parents and grandparents loved him! He is fantastic!
I knew! Grew up on this. Danced to Kenny Rogers with my Daddy at my wedding. I was a total Daddy’s girl and danced to “Through the years”. Man, made me start crying thinking about it.
Lionel Ritchie is one of the greatest song writers in history, absolutely amazing
This was my MOST favorite song to slow dance to. Almost every guy knew the words and would sing them (badly most of the time) to the girl he was dancing with. We loved it.
An absolute beauty written by talent and sung by talent…
Definitely an underrated voice.
Clearly Lionel is a master story teller and he knew Kenny would deliver like no other!
We ALL knew he could sing like that!!! His voice is PERFECTION!!!🤘🤘🎶🎼🎵🥁🎸🎧
Talent. No autotune
My mom was in love with him. Every time his song came on she couldn’t do a thing but sit and listen. His record was the second album I ever got. Elvis was the first.
With a voice like Mr. Rogers and a MASTER LOVE SONG WRITER like LIONEL RICHEY this song could not help but be MAGICAL!
Kenny , Lionel, whichever sang this song increased the population. this was so popular that made every couples night.
RIP Kenny.
One of his biggest hit “Sweet Music Man”; Kenny wrote it to outlaw Legend, Waylon Jennings.
He is one of the greatest country singer… ever!!!
Love how you don't just read a sponsor's ads but actually make a humorous and informative little bit for it
When I was a kid in the 80s, all of us kids had to be quiet for our Mom...for two men on the radio. Kenny Rogers and Conway Twitty. :) Conway Twitty's Hello Darlin' was played very loudly at our house. :D
There's a lot of similarity between soul and country. Both genres are full of stories of heartbreak, love, loss, victory, and defeat. They get stereotyped as "white" music and "black" music, but truthfully we all have a lot more in common than many people would admit.
Totally agree with you. Music can bring people together no matter what.
Yes Yes Yes!!!!!!! What a performance; Lionel’s song with Kenny’s deep, sexy delivery; PERFECT 🔥
That voice gives me chills. Idk if everyone else gets that feel good chills when he sang this classic. He had a killer smooth and macho voice
Van, I knew Kenny could sing like that! I grew up listening to him singing. You said something about Lionel writing a country song. Lionel wrote that song specifically for Kenny at Kenny‘s request. Kenny and Lionel were best buds! Not sure you knew, but Kenny Rogers passed away on March 20, 2020. He died from natural causes. Kenny could sing any song really. I love the smile on your face!
They say Kenny was the President of the "panty-droppers club" lol , my mom LOVED him , and I hope she got a big ole hug from him up in heaven. I think of my mom every time I hear one of his songs.
Kenny was great and his voice gave me chills. I loved him growing up.
I have always loved this song and Kenny Rogers. RIP
All I wanted was a man that I knew felt that way about me & that I could be his Lady! Blessed to have that in my life! Kenny Rogers was my crush 😍
Lionel sings this with Kenny at an awards ceremony for Lionel. The love they share while singing it on stage makes me cry! Please check it out! Love your reaction, I kept my drawers on. lol
And on top of that, you get the back story of the song being written. Even if you don’t react to it, it’s worth watching the story/duet. They have one at the Lionel tribute…but also one on Crossroads.
@@bigwaylon In a later interview, Lionel added to the story, making it even funnier. He said the 1 word he had was actually "Baby", but when he & Kenny met for the 1st time, Kenny kept going on & on about his wife, repeatedly calling her a Lady, so when they got around to talking about the song & Kenny asked the title, Lionel blurted out "Lady."
Yes, there is a true love and friendship there, and you don't get to see that too often on a musical stage anymore...and to know that it's persisted at least since the 70s is awesome.
@@wnsafford1854 Thank you, I did not know that. Awesome.
Lol, I knew Kenny Rogers could sing like that!!
Listen to Ruby oh my God I was 16 when I first heard him and fell in love with that cry in his voice. I am now 68. And I still love his voice.
Yes that rasp 👂❤👂 Lionel and Kenny were actually BEST friends! "Gonna be men drawers on that stage" ...😂😂😂
Sometimes the live version is the best. It's wonderful when it happens
Kenny and Lionel were the masters...and they came together to write and sing the best romantic song that was ever created. They are truly a brilliant team.
I knew! ♥️😁 He was a gift! Loved him! RIP Kenny Rogers! 🙏
Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were the male and female embodiments of country music to me when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. To this day their voices trigger the nostalgia vibe hard. I'm not even a big country fan nowadays, but The Gambler will always be in my top 5 favorite SONGS of all time due to the nostalgia factor.
We knew… Kenny Roger’s Lady, Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You and Willie Nelson You Were Always on My Mind - what a time it was!
I think even Kenny knew this performance was Lightening in a Bottle. ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Hey there! New here! Yes sir… this song made the panties fly off!!! Kenny could do that after the first note! RIP to one of the greatest voices you will ever hear.
Welcome to the LFR Family!
I've been in love with that man since I was 5 yrs old dude. I took his record to show & tell in kindergarten.😁 That would've been '79. He's always been one of my #1's. Conway Twitty's another good one.
He’s been singing this to me since I was 12,,,, I had the pleasure of listening to these legends since then....❤️
Yes, I knew. Kenny Rogers has always had a great voice.
I did. My parents were friends with a couple that owned a horse ranch. They played cards, and played Kenny, Dolly et al on repeat. I had no choice but to love them both.
What a great performance. What a Great singer..Enjoy
Yes sir ever since the first song he ever released back in the 60's called RUBY
Yes he's a true legend rip kenny
Van, you just make me smile so much when I watch your reactions! Thank you for that!
yes....yes, we knew LOL There's a reason Kenny is a country legend. That voice that voice. My fave of his. It never gets old. And yes, we ALL throwin' em hahaha This was one of your funniest reactions! 13 to 333, to EVERYBODY 🤣
Kenny had the freshest suits.. NEVER saw him lacking NOT ONCE
I knew but I'm almost 50 sooooo... Lol He was just awesome 🤯💯❤
Who knew? We did! You should watch the version where he is singing with Lionel! And his duets with several ladies are beautiful as well! Check those out. I really live You Can't Make Old Friends with Dolly Parton.
He certainly had a voice, timeless and amazing. Thank you for sharing discovering and enjoying some classics. It's a joy to see your smile listening for the first time. Now, my generation....your reaction to Bon Jovi! Could watch that a million times!!! Bless you and your family. Thank you for bringing smiles in times we all need it.
Love that hat, man. Give you EVEN MORE character...if that can be believed! This song is so beautiful. Loved watching your facial expressions.
Paties was droppin’ when he sang this.
Moms and Grandmas all over
Great reaction to a great song. Kenny Rogers was an incredible singer.
You asked who none I did he was the stud of the late 70 and the eighties. No one can ever compair. He was magnificent 😍
You should check out Lionell Ritchie and Kenny singing this song together. A joy.
He was amazing. He will be missed. Thanks for doing this! Love your reactions!❤️❤️❤️
I'm 66 years old. First time I heard Kenny was in 1968. It was "Just Dropped In". I listened to it on my cool transistor radio. It was a LSD Song (very popular back then). He still sounds the same. In fact his voice is a bit more mellower:
"I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in" 😊
What???!!! Im 50 and took a shit ton of LSD ( loved the gooney bird, four way window pane, purple microdot)
Wasn’t aware Kenny dosed 🤣
Is that the song in The Big Lebowski?
You made me laugh so much!! 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 when you started talking about drawers I about DIED but sir you are correct, many drawers were probably thrown at him. Thanks for this reaction.
Yes Yes Made my Tuesday morning, Thank-You. Kenny Rogers has been played in my whole life, First Kenny Rogers and The First Edition songs Ruby, I just dropped in, elvira, something’s burning, and the. Kenny’s song Lady, Morning Desire, sweet music man, Lucille, Island in the stream Please take your pick love your reactions so much and tell jojo hi too
Hard choice for me way always between Lady and She Believes in Me. When I was a little girl, I was transfixed by the voice that could melt butter. You Decorated My Life; We've Got Tonight; and Daytime Friends were also at the top of list for Kenny sings w.
Saw him in concert in the late 70s and consider myself lucky. RIP, Silver Fox. What a treasure.
Lionel and Kenny were very good friends. They called each other brothers. They worked on many many projects together and you really need to listen to more of his music and his many duets that he has done. One really good duet is him and Lionel singing this song at Kenny's tribute concert. He is one of late greats.
I knew he could sing like that since I first heard him with the first edition singing somethings burning
Man this reaction made me laugh and smile! I needed that today thanks brother keep up the great work
Absolutely I knew, even saw him sing this in concert when it first came out.
I've never seen your reaction to a song like you reacted to this. You never quit moving or smiling...loved it
Your son has a great father, God with You. big hugs from Poland. szczerze najlepszego
Oh heck how did I miss this one. One of my all time favs. Gives me the goosebumps Everytime still today
The guy that got the most "Drahs" was Sir Tom Jones!
He still makes me cry. ♥️ I loved him growing up. Lionel too. ♥️
3:36 uh anyone who loves Kenny Rogers...dude is legit
Me! I’ve known since I was 5 yrs old, when this song came out. I actually remember watching this on TV. Love him, may he Rest In Peace.

You have a very MOVING SOULFULLEST APPRECIATIVE VOICE WHEN YOU SING!!..THANKYOU AGAIN!!
We knew, I've been listening to Kenny Roger's for years!!!
Lol i knew. I've been listening to kenny Rogers since i was 5 yrs old (35 yrs ago). He is a legend
It is a beautiful song and done so well by Kenny. Kudos also to the songwriter Lionel Ritchie who also gives a magnificent version. Thanks for your reaction. 👏👏
Ever so often, i come back to your channel to watch your review of Lady. It always makes me laugh so much. One of the best reviews of this song to date.
