Oh I so agree there are so many crazy versions of Norse magic simply out there to take your money. Now I'm going shopping, Trolldom here I come. My mother loved the trolls she had this amazing set of little Trolls she would place in carefully selected spaces in our home. She loved to tell the stories of the Forest that all contained truth n magic. Thank you so much. 💓
You are most gracious with your time.. sharing knowledgeable, thoughtful content. I really enjoy your work and find your perspective interesting. Thanks so much!
Gradually going through your content and just wanted to thank you for the work you put in your channel. I kinda fell in love with the Viking Age period due to my master degree theses, and I think I might keep up with a PhD. So, all the sources you mention are really valuable. I'd like to depict a more accurate portrayal of the Scandinavian leaders and warriors who impacted the rest of Europe because teachers here still have the wrong ideas about them. It all started on an argument with a teacher who called King Cnut a psychopath... It pissed me off so much that someone in such a position could give off the wrong idea. If she had called Olaf Tryggvason that, it would have been a whole different story 😅
Hey broski, Canadian Scandinavian, Danish. Lovin the hair 🤙🏻. I’ve been doing soooo much research on our people lately, my oldefar came over after the war and our history was lost. Thank you for helping me learn more about out our people. I’m passing it down to my son, history and ancestry is important.
It's worth noting that I've found in the Galdrbok that Flowers did, some of the stave artwork is backwards or missing pieces from the originals. I'm still working of finding some more original copies to adapt it in my notes. That said I do like his book.
I was actually looking for video a couple weeks ago when I was in the market for some more books. For whatever reason it just popped up today. I'm satisfied lol
Thank you so much for making all these videos. I’ve been watching for pretty close to two years now. You do a great job sticking to factual history, and presenting in such a way that makes one want to go searching for more on their own. You are very much appreciated, keep up the great work!
My personal take/ it is not because you find old spells/magic that is good. Magic is a very personal thing, you have to learn about the elements and nature and use what works for you.
i have two of the books you mention... the Sorcerers screed and the galdrabók, i've read the icelandic folktales and legends, and trolldom nice ones all of them and its good material, but i've heard the swedish documentations on our spiritual practices are much more extensive than danmarks and norway (dont hang me up on the last one though, not sure but denmark for sure) NO WAY! omg you have the Norse Shamans on this list... love it! i've been looking for that one lol
Majik , Magic, ? Magic is to my knowledge help from our interactive Universe? Your books are very interesting. Are they available anywhere? I'm intrigued, and wish to purchase a book or two.
I don't know any books I could mention but for archeological finds I use the Swedish websites(they all have all the researches, riports available in English too) as well as some US universities lectures. Some of them you can find here on RUclips too. Otherwise I cannot take any info seriously. People talk BS quite often just because they see the "Vikings" or the "Ring of the Lords". Yes, the Vedas are cool. Takes time though... 😜
Doesn't Edred Thorson (Steven Flowers) have associations with the Ásatrú Folk Assembly? I liked his work immediately until the point where I learned that he is likely a "Folkist".
maria RUclips channel was good in the beginning while she was researching and writing her book . she would answer questions and discuss topics with you .but she has not posted up for a good while

Another excellent video brother. Could i ask as i have yet to find a detailed video on the daily rituals i am trying to learn. Do you have one ive missed? Or if not would you please make one.
It's sad what the Roman's did to Humanity. Their still in control. This is why we hear so little about Scandinavia. No one should ever destroy intellectual property. It hurts all if Mankind.
This was a great video. But I feel like a full, clear, and direct disclaimer on Varg Vikernes - BEFORE recommending his written works, would have been prudent. Thank you!
@@WizardOfArc Oh I don't know, interesting, I'll have to look into it. But not sure what an author's personal life has to do with the information in the book...

the story about Rigr / Rig comes from the text Rígsþula or Rigsthula (the lay of Rig or the thule of Rig) it is about how he created the social "classes" Noble/highborn warriors, the free men, and the slaves. but this is rather a mythical way of explaining society in the old viking and bronze age.. as far as i understand the highborn were the only ones who could perform, a ritual human (willing) sacrifice... never a person who did not understand why, nor a free man, noble, nor a slave of another faith. and only the kings and queen could do so, because their blood were closer related to the gods than that of a common man. they were the only ones who could decree such a thing.
Wich book is good to read if you lets say aren't very good at reading difficult books. I just try to stay mindful and aware as a warrior in the world. If you have been around any of it ? "Magic" or what have you ? Don't believe you would mistake it for what the world is ? That said ? It sounds as if someone is looking for a wizard ? Any doublings with the supernatural should be taken somewhat seriously ? Our Pagan ancestors weren't exactly at university's but we don't necessarily know what education might have been ? Anybody with any ability to control Power of any kind ? was certainly sought after by The cult of Abraham ! Probably still ! And so power would be incredibly secret ! But at the same time it is all around you all of whatever could have been there ? Magic or whatever that might be ? Is usually best achieved through manifestation and intent with a bit of sacrifice.... In any historical form you know of ? There is a great laboratory and the professor has left the building. You are but a child with all the power in front of you. What is your intent ? What does your heart say ? and what do all the lies say around that ? Magic becomes simple then. And less likely to have problems. Because with all of what you might do ? Clearly you needed a clear answer...
I do know in my research that the Eddas and specifically the "Havamal" or "Words of or from the High One" would mention some hints. Though it feels more a collection of wisdom like Psalms or Proverbs in the bible. Another source the Galdrabok is said to be an Icelandic grimoire, though written in 1600s, and possibly more associated to the Renaissance Era of Alchemy/Mysticism. With some interpretation. So that source is to be taken with a grain of salt.
