- The Pew Research Center’s new demographic projections- the first formal forecasts using data on age, fertility, mortality, migration and religious switching for the world’s eight major religious groups - finds that the religious profile of the world is rapidly changing.
What can we predict about the effects of an increasingly religious planet?
Will these projections lead to an increase in religious conflict, especially in the Middle East, South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa?
Can we expect that nationalism rooted in religious identity will grow, especially in India and Europe?
A panel of experts will tackle these questions - and many more - raised by the center’s new projections of the world’s changing religious composition.

Do these experts regard people who call themselves "spiritual" as opposed to "religious" as part of the unaffiliated?There is a resurgence in neo paganism in Western countries and this dampens the association of the unaffiliated with the so called "secularised."
Only 47 comments after six years. Lots of reporters and government people, so a very informed audience. I think world populations are a bit more volatile where religion is concerned. There are numerous factors that are unknowns which cannot be predicted.

+George the Kafir if were having an average conversation about religion i would agree, but i think it makes sense for the study. while i would imagine a sizable percentage of atheists/agnostics were raised to be religious and no longer identify as such, but i dont think its reasonable to argue that what religion you are born into is very influential on one's future beliefs. generally, most "religious" children will remain in the religion, so i think it made sense for them to do it in the study

I have a question.we know islam has a bad rep for isis. if this bad rep is solved,then what probably happen when islam is presented good.i really want an answer PEW.
Most of us in the West (yes even we Americans) do realize that ISIS does _not_ represent Islam as a whole. Where I live in the US, there are people of all faiths, including nons like myself, who happily live, work, and go to school together without issue. I understand that may not be the case everywhere, even if the peoples involved want it, due to historical, cultural, or other reasons. I sincerely hope that one day we can all live peacefully together.
As far as ISIS goes, I think that it would go a long long way if the Muslim community itself (countries, peoples, etc.) successfully dealt with it themselves. If it falls on the US, Russian, Israel, etc. to deal with it, then that could further deepen the divide. Regardless of who started it, it will be very important who stops it. That could be Islam's "Berlin Wall" moment, where the world's opinion of them changes radically almost overnight.
Islam does not have a bad rep for isis. It has a bad rep for all the other things connected to it as well. You cannot stick to this overly simplified description if you hope to make differences. Islam needs a reformation.

Because their primary addressing people who come from a Christian background so all Abrahamic religions will be addressed I mean their seeking English what's the main religion in the English speaking nations of the world 🌎 so if you are a Christian or Muslim you still have to recognize the Jewish faith because of the old testament. @Tom Harry Aha, so that's what he was talking about. Sure, it's not a religious divide, but it's a political divide that divides muslims. And people need to be able to be side by side no matter what religion they have. Secularism is the way, not islam against rest of society.

It is an inclusive everything within Hinduism are part of 5 elements earth (pritvi), water (jal), fire (tejas), wind (vayu) and space (akasha) to receive anybody, everybody (even small atom to big as ant/ plants/ animals/ trees/ men/ women/ ???? etc - nonbeliever-atheist/ believer (not a book word to word stuck believer like all abrahamic religions). The Hinduism is more than science to the whole cosmic to reaching divine God (Brahm) so take experience such the way of life for your happily living and understanding the Universe nature.
