    What I remember most about TDN was the magnitude of the hit Joy to the World. I was living in Milwaukee back then, 1971, and the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship. I went up to Chuck Negron when I saw him in the aisle of a supermarket I was in around 2010.
    I told him I loved the Live at the LA Forum cd and actually had it in my car. He was friendly and gracious
    I asked if he thought they would ever reunite- this was years before Wells died. He said, “ No- it wouldn’t be good for me.” I saw him a few months later perform at a free concert for Tri-Help, the substance abuse treatment center. I thought they were too slick and plastic in their day- but have since come to appreciate their harmonies - and material- and that was Chuck.

    Many artists & songwriters at the time wrote songs for them(Harry Nilson, Paul Williams, Randy Newman, Hoyt Axton). They actually had MANY Top 20 hits!
    My favorites are probably Joy to The World, Shamabala, & the often forgotten Family of Man! Seeing these songs done live today by what remains of Three Dog Night is like a spiritual experience! Its like going to a religious revivalist event, very moving & powerful!

    Had to dig deep for this one. All the hits of course, but there are songs that got no airtime but still shined on their records. “Chest Fever” and “Murder In My Heart For The Judge” come to mind. My favorite hit of theirs is “Family Of Man.”

    • @katazack
      @katazack 10 месяцев назад +1

      Chest Fever was a great concert song. Jimmy Greenspoon really made that Hammond B3 rumble! Three Dog Night stayed near Kissimmee, FL for a few days in the late OO's during a tour and Greenspoon came to the local public arts school and talked about music with the students. I couldn't bring myself to go to the concert they played in town, though. By that time, there were too many missing band members and I wanted to remember them the way I saw them in the '70s.

    Old Fashioned Love song--quintessential TDN! Lots of musical magic with that band--and backed up by first-rate musicians. Saw TDN for the first time in '86; but with Cory and Danny. No more bands like this one!
