Hey everyone- just wanted to say I’m aware there is about 30 seconds of audio lost around 24 minutes- this isn’t the case in Premiere timeline, I’ve rerendered this video a few times and am having an audio issue where each re-render is missing something. I will be fixing this in a RUclips editor soon and I apologize for this inconvenience- I hope the rest of this video is enjoyable.
Nah no problem it makes it even funnier honestly
Zootopia as a movie: The most rewatchable
Zootopia as a world in SMBA: The most frustrating
I don't know why but with the background music still going that part made me laugh so hard
When will it be fixed?
4 months later and still no fix :/
As a staff member on Flashpoint I was very sad you passed it by. The reason why some antivirus programs trigger false flags on the program is because of the scripts it comes bundled with that are necessary to emulate a game-to-server connection required to circumvent games that could only be played on certain websites or to draw on game assets scattered across multiple "URLs" in general. Some antivirus programs dont really understand that this process is entirely safe as most of it is done on the end-user's side and just assumes it's doing something shady. I can ensure you though that Flashpoint is 100% safe.
I figured for this video since I have friends who helped me out with footage it was not a huge deal, but I will use this for future projects
Something sad is that Keith Webb (Character artist) and Paul Gardner (Main dev for the first year) both note several mandates that honestly hindered dev
-No none monkey characters (Keith planned for a whale and fruit bat NPCs initially)
-No prequels (concepts of Kid Dr. Badboon and assistent were scrapped), though the devs bothered to note continuity, especially in the PSP version
-No direct antagonists (Naysayers were a circumnavigation, but not the actual cause of trouble)
This effectively meant the devs had to scrabble to remotely have conflict for story. And with info from Sega being a none direct relay from Nagoshi + BB dev occuring secretly, the devs were doubly screwed for lasting appeal of the game and guidance if any
They definitely needed more time, audio reuse and the mission structure especially were the worst
It's like they wanted it to be bad
Ah yes my favorite Super Monkey Ball game.
It really stinks that Super Monkey Ball Adventure didn't get the development time it deserved. I still have fond memories of playing this game and hearing that it got shafted stinks.
Me and my brother played this game religiously, and he was never exposed to any other smb games since. He still says it's one of the best games he played as a child, close behind Kingdom Hearts 2 and Twisted Metal 2.
Kongrilla (and the hover chant more specifically) really illustrates just how badly the whole game needed a jump button; either that or just have all the chants unlocked from the start. As is, though, progression in this one is probably the worst of any collectathon I've ever played.
Great video as always!
Thank you for your kind comment! Kongrila is likely one of the best if not best worlds of the game- it’s a shame it’s at the end because by the time I got there, I had a sour taste in my mouth of the whole game :P
Had this game as a kid and never understood at all how it worked. The naysayers terrified me and I just remember getting frustrated and shutting off my GameCube after an hour of doing random tasks. Kudos to you for putting up with any of this lol. Also thanks for refreshing my nostalgia
I remember getting this game as a kid. I'd asked for Super Monkey Ball, but instead it was Adventure. I still gave it a chance to then despise this game. I got stuck in the green grass, water area I think due to some boulders or the weird enemies, and I'm glad I never did since these missions look like NIGHTMARES!
Just stumbled upon your channel, great to see you reviewed this more obscure game. I've never played it myself but have always been curious about it. Some parts look like they could be fun, especially the mini games.
Also LOL on the part about the sunglasses thumbnail XD
Is it just me or does the voice of Jeff Compass cut off around 24 minutes?
love this game
Same!
Now I mean no disrespect with this because I haven't seen a single person talk about literally all of my childhood games so I love your content. But the wood ball rant is kinda meaningless, you just have to be quick to melt the ice and then the fire will be lit at the next generator
In saying that I'm not saying the difficulty isn't an issue this game is so fucking hard low key , even now as an adult I struggle with a lot of it
It's a minute 20 in, but gotta say. This game is beloved.
Don't like most other super monkey ball games that much though so coming at it from that franchises perspective is probably very different from someone like me who loves spyro and rachet and clank
1110 in, i honestly thought the gate levels were one of the weak points of the game, like they were there just as a callback to the older games. It felt kinda like a chore sometimes. Not always though. They were still good enough to be fun in their own right if i was in the mood.
The voice us just gone at 2410?
Odd.
I didn't mind the long falls on the stickyball portion.
If i fall it's my fault right?
19:45 oh oh oh oh ooooh, try everything…
Worst monkey ball game imo is Banana Splitz, it's so bad...
Do you mean Blitz?
Do you mean Blitz?
I’m glad you actually brought up the missed potential in this game, because a sonic adventure style monkey ball game really could have worked. It just didn’t get the time/resources/testing it should have. Also idk why this was greenlit while Sega was working to entirely reboot the franchise lmfao
2006, the year Sonic and Monkey Ball both got 2 games a pop and they all were bad :P
@@JeffCompassbut sonic riders and sonic rush adventure
Nice review! Probably the best one i’ve ever seen on this game; honestly makes me want to actually try it after putting it off for years lol
If Monkey Ball Fandom was as big as the Sonic one, I'd be opened to reworking this and fixing all the flaws to make it playable and fun. Alas it's out of my skill range. 😅
I feel similarly for both this game and 06 that they are hard games to bring back from the dead. I think Adventure inherently would work more possibly considering it’s less story based! But I can imagine it would be a technical nightmare haha
It'd be easier to just make a new game in the spirit of
Speaking of game testing, this heavily remined me of the hilarious situation that the first Rayman game ended up with.
The testing for that one was done mostly by the devs themselves, and so they fine tuned the difficulty to their skill cap without a second thought.
It ended up ridiculously difficult because unlike developers, regular people didn't have months after months of accumulated experience with the game. xD
Idk man sounds like a case of git good
I just heard of this channel and oh my the effort put into these videos is too much for this amount of subs and viewing rate to be this low
These comments really make my day- thank you!
just finished watching, another excellent video. Love the humor you bring while also discussing the game. The effort you put into your videos is definitely noticeable and i cant wait to see more
You’re the best Funky, thank you for your consistent support, these comments always make me happy to read 💙
The game is just so dark looking. They really needed to add some global lighting to brighten it up. It's just so gloomy
Another winner Jeff - I've never heard of this game at all! Enjoyed watching
Thank you FalseBoo :3
So happy I just found your channel 😍 I've watched a few videos already and I'm HOOKED.
Super pumped to see your channel continue to grow, bc you deserve all the hype (and way more subs!!)
Thank you!!! These comments really mean the world to me!
Super Monkey Ball Adventure. A game that if you played it as an 8 year old and was your only experience with the franchise, you most likely still adore it both ironically and unironically, like me 💙
I'd say 3D and Step and Roll are worse, at least Adventure had some interesting level design.
15:20 I think ya hit the wrong target
Nice Appetite For Destruction poster 👍
This was 47 minutes well spent!
I’m glad you enjoyed it ^_^
i love SMBA
Super monkey ball adventure was one off my favorit games on psp, i love it soo much😊
That one guy who disliked this video
I remember playing Super Monkey Ball Adventure on PS2 and GameCube when I was young. While I didn't understand the story, I enjoyed the exclusive Party Games they had (except Monkey Trumps, I didn't have a PSP and since online was shut down for PSP, I probably will never get a chance to play it at all).
I really hoped Monkey Bounce, Monkey Tag, and Monkey Cannon reappear in a future SMB game. I enjoyed Monkey Cannon the most as it was super fun.
Nice job on the video!
