I get so excited when I see how alike we prepare certain dishes. I use small chopped green onions. Oppose to white or brown onions. I sometimes add medium cooked shrimps. The family loved that change as well. Make sure shrimp are not wet when added🤗😊🤗
Why do people try to reinvent the wheel, when it's already invented. I don't care from what side of the world u come from, STOP messing up a perfect dish. Potato salad & macaroni & cheese was not created to be incorporated w/seafood or ham, bacon, turkey. If u must have this foolishness w/ur side dishes, PLEASE put them off to the side, just in case some people can't tolerate them. Some people can't have pork or intolerate to seafood & the like. Just because I like it doesn't mean everyone will. Even though my saying is my kitchen, my way, that applies to me only, when serving others, be considerate, either on the side or not at all. But in the house of however, after running across your video my potato is BANGING! I followed your instructions to the t and made it on Thanksgiving yesterday and oh my goodness! Everybody loved it! I never use celery seed, but I will start using it. I also put my mayo and mustard together and then add that mixture to my potato salad. I also let my potatoes come to room temperature before I fold anything into them. They seem to hold their shape better. I never use sugar and I've never heard of that! I also use dill relish - just a preference. I add olives and celery too. I enjoy each of your videos. Thank you for taking the time to show us how you make your dishes. I've learned a lot from you.
I love a good potato salad Chris and yours looks fabulous. I tend to do mine "bottom-up". That is, I mix the mayo, mustard, pickles and onion, salt, pepper, sugar and chopped egg, then fold in the potatoes. I like the sliced eggs at the end as well as the addition of paprika for color. I agree it should be refrigerated over night for a great marriage of flavor then served. I'm gonna try your technique along side some Chitlins, greens, and trotters for my New Year's Day dinner. I Love, Love, Love, Potato salad!!! Though our recipes are almost identical I make mine a little different. 1. I use red potatoes. I like mine chunky and not so much mashed. 2, When I put the eggs in I separate the yolks and only put the whites in with the potatoes. 3. I make the dressing in a separate bowl. I start by taking the egg yolks and crumble them up real well. Then I add the mayo and mustard and stir this up well. Then add the relish to the dressing. The worst compliment I ever had was that it was awesome!
That looks really good but I've never used sugar in my potato salad either & I always mashed my potatoes to give it that smooth texture. The only ingredients that Mrs. Chris that I don't use is the fresh celery, sugar, & the onions. Everything else, I use. Now to give mines that little extra sweet taste, I use a little sweet pickle juice from the sweet pickles. After I cut my eggs on top, I put just a pinch of paprika right in the middle of each sliced egg. Thank you so much Mrs. Chris for your awesome version of potato salad. 😀

I make my potato salad just about the same way you make yours. I don't add sugar but I do add dill weed. I know I made a great potato salad and one day went to a picnic and had potato salad the was really even though she did not use everything I use. I asked how it was made and the big difference was dill weed. Besides, adding a little green, a teaspoon to the size salad you made makes it taste so much better. Many people make mashed potato salad. I live in Maine and my boyfriend's mother made regular potato salad and mashed potato salad. Louisiana makes mashed potato salad and parts of the South.

I have always put sliced eggs on top of potato salad. Like you, I like getting one of those slices. I’ve never seen sugar used in potato salad. Do you think that may be something that is more commonly done in the south? I like to sprinkle my potatoes with a very small amount of brine from the pickle jar. It gives the potatoes a bit of zing as well as salt if your pickles are fermented in a salt brine. Your salad looked very yummy. I plan to make it as soon as I do my April grocery shopping so I’ll be sure to have all the ingredients

Sometimes I love to add Dill as well I make my dressing in a separate bowl so I don't have to stir the potatoes so many times. All of the onions and relish and that stuff goes into the potatoes but my mayonnaise dressing I'm making a bowl and then pour it on and fold it in.

Oh Chris where did you get your pinky ring? I love it! If I'm going to serve my potato salad the day of then I use green onions instead of a regular onion. I have also used dried roasted onions and these two things are much milder than a round onion.

Good morning Chris, how does this potatoes salad compare to your "no fail" version from way back?? Can I still use your vinegar mixture in the new version?
