That wasn't Brezhnev. Arguably Stalin was the one to make it a world superpower. Quite contrary under Brezhnev the USSR started a long decline. So you could say it started falling apart with the stagnation during the Brezhnev era
@@I_Rykuu_l Brezhnev made couple of mistakes like making Soviet economy dependent on oil, but he drastically improved the living conditions for people in the USSR and build a ton of infrastructure. Compared to post-Soviet countries, working people lived much better under Brezhnev than today under current capitalist and corrupt leaders. That’s why he is so liked by the people who grew up under his rule.
