- This last video of my physics testings demonstrates how the DS3 WRC handles in the final NGP 6 release. The physics has been tweaked slightly compared to the previous video, based mostly on a real rally drivers feedback.
In this run I also used a custom gravel setup which allowed me to be little more brave with my driving (maybe too much in some places :))
It is the same stage as in the last video (rallyguru-trac..., just in the reversed direction.
I invited a codriver Paul Nagle to my car this time, he fits my rough driving style perfectly! :)

Personally I find NGP 6 to be the step in the right direction - each classes & individual cars now have much more specific and often very challenging handling. As there are way more aspects simulated (too long list to include it here), these must also be taken into account while driving and you have to stay focused permanently, so any kind of "hotlapping" will be much more difficult now. On the other side, this allow much sofisticated car control. All of these improvements are also transfered to FFB (this was already good in NGP 5, but not the FFB is just superb).
I am really looking forward to see how the community accepts all new features! :)

The whole rally thing is worthless when your Co driver sounds bored like he is reading a book. Just listen to the german voice... A woman that sounds like she would rather lie in her bed than sitting in a rally car... Codemasters... Patch it! Please....
@최기훈 it does, I have Windows 10 as well. I read somewhere not to install RBR on drive C. I installed RBR on another drive. Perhaps it helps to install RBR just not in C:\Program Files

Actually this is just a fun factor that is not realistic at all. The real rally drivers hold their emotions back at all costs, loosing the concentration this way can have fatal consequences in this sport.

@@marfrandema1884 Yes, it is taken from the real recording - K. Meeke says that after finishing the Mexico Powerstage where they jump out of the stage and almost killed people on a parking... but no rally driver would make such notices during the stage ;)

It is made by "Leza" modder, he made it by cutting those sounds from some onboard WRC video. He made plenty of codriver sound mods.

I am currently working on a stage which has 8 mil. polygons (dense vegetation) and I can run it in 60fps @ 4K with maxed AA (via nVidia Control Panel) + Reshade.

@fukthegoog It is just an option - in the game menu you can find a "Shakedown" (for your offline training) and the "Online Tournaments" which allows you to enter a pre-configured event and compare your times with others after each stage & overal times.

I can't believe that's RBR. It was the best and most frustrating (but still best) rally sim I ever drove.
It is the same like learning any other skills, i.e. if you are beginning with playing the guitar, your fingers hurt sooo much :) RBR is so satisfying once you start to have the car under your control.

I was using original pacenotes, but you can edit them to make it really precise.
for a moment or 2, i forgot it was a game. i love the rough/bouncing roads. all console rally games seem to have the problem of just gliding over the terrain, but this looks/feels like every piece of gravel causes a shock to the car.
RBR has been king for a long time now and it doesn´t really look like there are any contenders to that title .
Yep, exactly that. DR2 for example felt like gliding most of the time, really disconnected from ground. Sure it has impressive graphics and sounds, but the gameplay is acceptable
Co-drivers in games SHOULD sound scared. Especially if it's me behind the wheel.
But RBR tries to simulate reality and the real co-drivers are not scared :)
The felling of the springs being compressed and the bumpers hitting the ground is just sooooo satisfying.

@sneksta because the sounds are like shit and graphics are randomly bad to shit. Of course, it's so old. And, so, some one like the evolution studios (gone), ore DICE (Rallisport challenge), or the warthog, making , dunno, Seb Ogier rally.
@Aniq Iman it's not true. I mean, some stages are ok, most are shit, like cars models (we are in 2019...) . The game itself is faboulus, but' I'd love some one to MANAGE A PROPER GAME, not only mods for nerds (which I love, of course, but sometime is good to have just a good working package).

I'm really impressed by the co driver voice over, it's as if it's a real onboard rally video.
As soon as i read Carvalho de Rei, i knew it it was my country and holy molly, even the plates they had the attention to put such detail on them! At that date (date that this game was made), the plates with information, the buildings and the type of buildings, brands, etc, they got all that right. Incredible. I have never saw someone with this much care, on representing Portugal on a video game like this...
Also, i just came to know this game not so long time ago. I came from ViperConcept channel and he said really awesome things about this game.
Also, the co-pilot is so on point! The mistakes that were made and his instant reaction was priceless, even when finishing the course the little chat between pilot and co-pilot... It just blown me away! _Reminded me of playing GTA 5, whanever i was driving during a story mission, when NPCs were talking, if you crashed into something, they would stop the dialogue and react to that accident and continue their dialogue... Same feeling, i was blown away that time. I just gotta love these little details ♥_

A game like no other. it gives me goosebumps. the sensations are fantastic when you go in to it.
Unbelieveable... i loved so much this game... i think i'll reboot my PC seeing this. The pacenote mod is completely insane, barely believeable.
This is really impressive physics, this is really how a short rally car gets aruond! I could literally feel the sideways forces watching this video. If I ever tries this in a VR headset, I would die from shock if I were to drive off a cliff.
You also feel very subtle details using FFB, unfortunately this cannot be demonstrated through a video :) I never tried VR yet, but definitely want to try it... I am just not sure how my brain will understand that visual realism vs missing G-forces...
This is what Dirt Rally 2 should have been. Just some environments need some work still but driving looks so good

Co-driver sounds so realistic and its made really well. The whole game is just a pure dream to a sim driver, its just on its own level.
Just imagine this with a modern graphics...

These graphics look better than dirt rally 2.0 to me. More pure, simple, realistic. Less post fx and prettiness filters. As a bonus it will both look 10 times better and run 10 times better in vr. Simplistic graphics always look better in vr due to its current limitations. But i will never play another Sim racer without vr again. It's too good.
So the thing is, I am going to get a high-end PC next month and up until now I was overly excited about all the latest games in 4K and all that. But now I saw this video and forgot about everything else on the market! I am a very big sim-racing fan, and at the moment I would like to play nothing else than RBR with the mods you installed.
So I thing I am asking on behalf of all my fellow gamer friend on the comment session, would you be so kind and share with us what kind of mods are you using to achieve this amazing realism? I assume one of the mods must be NGP6, the other is the Carvalho de Rei v1.2 map, and for the co-driver mod the Meeke mod from by Leza. Are these mods on Nexusmods? Or where could we get them? And are you using any other mod to get the ful-fat RBR experience?
This map with all the details are amazing. The ammount of foliage on screen is simply put stunning. Wow again and again.... I am impressed

Look up RBRPro for a quick easy install. It's a program similar to content manager for assetto corsa.
The textures, sounds, light box on these stages are AMAZING. Far from when I was playing this.
Might find the time to relearn this game and how to apply all the mods.

The stages quality vary a lot, but this sim is more about the physics anyway, so once you drive you barely care about the graphics.
Anyway, if you want to try the latest RBR (with all the standard mods), the most recommended and simple way is to use this all-in-one installer:

It might be from 2004 and I'm not sure if these are stock or modded visuals, but, it does look believable :).
Just new content and improved physics, but both only extends what was created in 2004 (and both can be still improved a lot by modding).

This Vid was my step into RBR, now in 2019 :) . In VR. I don't drive DR anymore (maybe later again). The weight-transfer and FFB in RBR are state of the art. Truely sad, that the Reshade doesnt work in VR, so the grafX are not bad, but ok. And the RBR-Menues... Are so fast... It takes about 10 Seconds to get in the car.

Did you use my installation or you managed to get NGP 5 work by yourself?
RBR driving experience depends on the quality (level of detail) of each particular stage - try the presented Carvalho de Rei or similar carefuly made stage, then the RBR physics & FFB really starts to shine.

@@Vannellus It is a tool that should make installing cars easier, but it doesn't work well for me actually, I find it little confusing and I experience some crashes to ... but you can try it.
The author said he is going to remake it soon though.
@@jendabekCZ I got the NGP6 to run and just having fun with the latest releases. Applying a bit more camber and a bit negative toe at the rear tyres, gives a better oversteer @the DS3 WCR for me. The FWD Clio 16S feels great, too! U can really feel the FWD and finetune with the brakes! Pls keep on making videos trying the NGP6!

Thanks, I think there are 2 reasons, the first is the Dirt: Rally is a mainstream game, so I believe it is not in their interest to make an unforgiving simulation (Codemasters games are not based on a simulation BTW) which would be frustrating to drive for most of their player-base. The second reason is that you need to have really skilled & passionate physics programmers to achieve correct gravel physics, interesting reading about this topic:

The best I've seen yet. Very realistic. Some remarks though. The colours of the scenery when compared with the car's cockpit lighdt are to faded even if we take into consideration that we are in a dusty Special Stage. Then when we change from gravel to cobblestone we shoud hear a different sound as the car's tyres make contact with a new surface and also the car's dynamics should change, it should tremble or balance a bit more. Otherwise its awsome.
You can hear the tyres sound changes when transitioning to tarmac section and I find the physics pretty accurate as well ... But what you really miss is the FFB where you just feel every detail of the surface, unfortunately this experience cannot be transfered to video :)
Otherwise the game itself is a playground and it depends purely on a track creator how skilled he is. There is definitely possible to create extremely realistic and detailed stages, way more than this one - I work in a team of modders, we are working on something... and I can tell you that RBR can handle incredible detail. There is definitely very large room for improvements even without making any "new version". Hopefuly something will be demonstrated in a near future.
I wish we have it again on consoles...

Honestly makes you wonder why the need for the constant annual purchase is a thing. Could dirt 2.0 not have been an upgrade rather than the full purchase plus dlc? WRC games are essentially the same year upon year, could they not be delivered in an update?
Imagine a decade of support by a software house that developed something like this. How spectacular that could be. Graphics don’t change so much these days anyway.

Just wondering, in terms of times, how does NGP6 compares with NGP5? Is it slower?

It is not that simple, but as it now requires more technical driving, you can be faster than with NGP 5 if you are skilled enough to handle the complex physics, but also slower if you drive as you were used to with NGP 5.
Gravel is now more grippy in general, but not by some adjusting of "grip level", but because of simulating more aspects that results into higher grip... i.e. WRC and it's aero-kit is now more effective due more sophisticated simulation (faster you go, more grip it generates, also the front & rear aero is now simulated separately...). Also the tyre vs surface physics has been tweaked ...
In this particular stage I am around 10-20s faster than with NGP 5. But at the same time I need to be more careful in many places which I was just flying-through in NGP 5...
Tarmac is much more tricky, hairpins now require very precise throttle to avoid oversteer & spin, braking is now more affected by weight distribution of each wheel, you can no more turn while the wheels are locked etc...
There is also much more significant difference between not only a car class, but even specific car model (i.e. Hyundai R5 handling is very different to Fabia R5 - because of the different wheelbase etc).
It would be long list, but in general, NGP 6 is just more complex and you need to "drive more" ... which is what I like about it :)

why is the sound in this better than any other rally games... the engine not so much (its still pretty good) but just the creaking and rattling, the suspension, the surface, the gravel flicking up and wheel spin etc. its all just so spot on. and the co driver, lol. but i assume thats edited in after? is it a real recording of a co driver from that stage?
Hello, the sound effects are connected to the physics (which is also the case of Force Feedback - there are no "effects", just pure connection to the wheels), so they are played properly based on what is actually happening with the car, I suppose that's the reason why it sounds quite natural.
Codriver is all recorded in-game (it is Paul Nagle mod) except those few "wtf" calls ("jesus christ chris" etc), that was a little cheat from me to make the video even more entertaining :)
The game still gets updated by the community, so it is possible it will get FMOD sound engine implemented (like Assetto Corsa) in the future, that would help with the engine sound a lot.
dispite outdated tech, this game (ofc with mods) looks way more belivable and natural than Dirt Rally. Those tracks were made with love and dedication. I'm really thinking about buying a wheel and getting back to RBR after almost 15 years break.

@@jendabekCZ Mostly the dead-zone in the middle where the FFB stops to work for a split of a sec. The resistance it makes also feels a bit unatural (tho I never drived a proper sports car). The other thing that slightly annoy are the gears. I can really feel them when i rotate the wheel, especially when I'm trying to do small corrections. I also don't know how to setup the rotation limits for RBR. I heard people saying that i should go with 360 degree, others that it should be 540 degree and now I don't know what's the right amount :P. Other thing that I'm not sure if I messed up in RBR or the wheel settings, is the sensitivity curve. I need to do one full rotation on the wheel for the car to start turning :/.
@@krisx2S Max. degrees of rotation can be set in Logitech SW. It is normal to feel the gears while rotating the wheel slowly, but this is not problem while driving, trust me. The same with the deadzone.
Which RBR should I install, I didn't like RSRBR .
Vanilla still stands the test of time, however RBRCZ or RBRTM is apparently recommended. check the r/simrally reddit, they have a guide there.
